OOC Discussion and Table Talk
Re: OOC Discussion and Table Talk
Y'know, your PCs don't necessarily have time for a discussion. You know the pit is at least 60' deep because that's how far your light reaches. It takes about 3 seconds to fall that far, or half a segment. A 100' deep pit will give you four seconds; a 200' deep pit will give you just under six seconds, and so on.
But I'll leave it to you to decide how much OOC coordination you think is fair before declaring an action. When If you die, I don't want it to be because I was a hard-ass with the rules.
No pressure.

Re: OOC Discussion and Table Talk
Good point.
Re: OOC Discussion and Table Talk
Speaking of death, I've been thinking of something that might be fun to try. The module is deadly, as I think I've mentioned. There's a not-insignificant probability of a TPK or near-TPK relatively early on in the module. If that happens, you'd miss out on a lot of cool stuff later on (IMO) unless we found a way to plop a whole new party in where the other party was.
So here's what I'm thinking: "video game mode." Basically, in the event of a TPK, a new party, much like the last, gets dropped in at the most recent "save point" and can try again and, if successful, continue. "Video game mode" could work in this particular story because, hey, you're in the lower planes and the normal rules don't apply. Maybe Hell means failing over and over at the same task.
I don't want to make it so death doesn't matter, but I also don't want death to end the game. Perhaps there would be some cost to reloading a "saved game?"
What do you think?

Agreed. I'd like to see this thing through.
Re: OOC Discussion and Table Talk
So... riding the boat down the waterfall pit wasn't the correct response?
Re: OOC Discussion and Table Talk
It's just something I was thinking about. It may or may not have any relation to what's about to happen.

Re: OOC Discussion and Table Talk
As I recall magical swords can shed light at the will of the bearer. Does the same also apply to, let's say, a magical mace of renown?
Re: OOC Discussion and Table Talk
Hm. I don't think it's practical for weapons without scabbards to be glowy by default. Someone could always cast Continual Light on one, though.
But if you want, we can say that it glows very faintly-enough to see 10' away, and avoid stumbling over things, say.

Thanks - was thinking the same - a continual light on a shield let's say.
The glow you suggest is more than fair, thanks!

Re: OOC Discussion and Table Talk
I only have actions for Odilo, Malibran, and the Unseen Servant. We're coming up on the holidays, so it would be nice to know what everyone else plans to do.
Or I could just make up actions. That would probably go well. Yeah.

Sorry - having a tough time thinking of something worthy of a high level paladin.
Re: OOC Discussion and Table Talk
Hallagad's girdle of fire giant strength gives him an effective strength of 22, which has a weigh allowance of +7500 gp. He can dog paddle with up to 95 lbs of gear. So he's at least in no immediate danger of sinking.

Ah, duh, I forgot to account for that.
I win the muppet award for today.

Muppet award?
Re: OOC Discussion and Table Talk
Does OSRIC have weights for potions?
Do magic clothes/boots have a weight?
What about Gauntlets of Ogre Power and Bracers of Defense?

Re: OOC Discussion and Table Talk
Figure potions at 1lb/bottle. Magic clothes, boots, gauntlets, and bracers can be considered unencumbering, mostly because I don't want to have to figure out a weight value for everything. Magic weapons weigh the same as normal weapons, however.
