Lanny the elf

Lanny is deeply disturbed by the news of a saboteur poisoning the wells of the town.

"Father Varis, have you any ideas who might be behind this? Why would someone poison the wells, what would they stand to gain from it?"

Lanny listens as Father Varis discusses the shaman's items and the hobgoblin prisoner.

"I do not think we have any need for those items, if you wish to study them further whenever you have time. The hobgoblin was a very uncooperative prisoner, and he may be equally uncooperative during interrogation, but I remain convinced that he was training the gnolls in preparation for an attack. We would very much like to have him back in our hands when the Baron's Men have finished with him, if that is possible... Regarding our friend Saul, we can assist with digging a plot in the cemetery for his remains if your acolytes are busy with healing the poisoned townspeople, as I am sure they are. It seems that the entire town in on edge due to the events on Fogor's Isle..."

Lanny steps back and huddles with his companions.

"I know we are commited to the missions at the Logging Camp and Castle Mistamere, but the situation here seems to have grown quite dire overnight. Perhaps we should see if our services are needed..."

Father Varis

"I do not know who is behind this although there are many in town who are convinced it is being perpetrated by chaotic lycanthropes! Why, the price of silver has gone through the roof, townsfolk are dredging up every silver item they can find -- candlesticks, earrings, utensils -- and selling them for three, four, even five times their normal value! The smiths can hardly keep up with the demand for silvered items!"

He shakes his head. "At this point I do not see what you could do to help in town; the Baron's men will soon have everything under control. No, I am worried that we may be seeing the results of a carefully crafted plot; these gnolls may have been part of an external assault whilst our forces are busy with other matters. I would suggest you could do the most good following this lead to its conclusion."

Lanny the elf

Lanny looks puzzled when Father Varis mentions lycanthropes and the rush for silver.

"Have any of the townspeople actually seen one of these lycanthropes? I hope this is not a false rumor generated by our own attempts at acquisitioning silver for our newly commissioned weapons... We suspected the beast of the logging camp to be a lycanthrope, and ordered silver weapons accordingly. Rumors do have a way of spreading quickly in this small town... some true, some false."

Lanny nods his head at Father Varis's suggestion.

"We will ensure that Castle Mistamere is cleared of gnolls, and hopefully the hobgoblin will provide further answers. Afterwards, we will scout the logging camps to see if there is any truth to the rumors about lycanthropes in the area."

Lanny waits for the others to ask any questions, and then he returns to the inn and waits to update the party on the overall situation...
It looks like our plans to charm the hobgoblin have been thwarted, but I think we can still proceed with our burial plans for Saul and our healing plans for the rest of us.

Unless anyone objects, Lanny will leave the shaman's items with Father Varis for future analysis.

This all sounds good, in the interest of expediting the back-to-town venture...

Funny, this is exactly what I was thinking when I read that.
Thordin has no issues with leaving the shaman stuff with the priest.

Innana asks about whilst her companions are speaking with the priest and is told that several wells were poisoned overnight by a gang of rabid werewolves. Or Iron Ring thugs. Or a psychotic dwarf.

Lanny the elf

While gathered around a table at the inn with the rest of the party, Lanny listens to the reports of the various rumors heard around the town about the poisoning of the water wells.

"The Iron Ring would seem to be the most likely perpetrators... They are ruthless enough to do something like this, and they are probably interested in strengthening their foothold on the island by weakening the resolve of the townspeople on the mainland... At some point, we may have to find a way to assist the town in their efforts against these thugs, with or without the blessing of the authorities. I have not, however, ruled out the possibility that this really and truely is the work of a psychotic dwarf. You have been awfully quiet lately, Master Thordin, and the last time we were in town, you disappeared for a bit on a "special project". So, consider yourself under surveillance, effective immediately."

Lanny tries to maintain a straight face, but then breaks out in a smile.

"Our original plan had been to deal with Saul's remains today, Flaurmont 3, and then to deal with the hobgoblin and our own healing tomorrow, Flaurmont 4. The hobgoblin is now out of our hands. Let us see what tomorrow brings in Threshold. If there are no new developments, we will return to Castle Mistamere and continue our search for answers on the morning of Flaurmont 5."

Before entering the inn for the night, however, each adventurer is instructed to place his or her hand upon a silver plate mounted next to the door. A glowering, burly man hefting a stout length of wood observes the process. Thankfully, each adventurer is able to touch the platter with no discomfort, sparks or divine intervention.

After leaving the meeting with Father Varis, Marodin is in agreement. He thinks the group should clear the castle and then return to town to see if the Baron's men need help.

Innana the Fighter:

Innana raises her right eyebrow, and muses at her friend, "A Psychotic Dwarf, ay?" Innana tries to think of a way to talk to her friends without outright laughing at their explanations. "I think I would go with the Iron Ring." Innana leans back in her chair, and looks at the water jug on the counter. "I think a Dwarf, even a psychotic Dwarf would be too short to pull it off all on his own, and well, the Werrewolfs would be out for blood, not water. It seems way too methodical a thing for a Werewolf to pull off. "

Innana will meet up with the rest of the group at the Inn, and go over the plan. Innana is fine with preceding with Saul's funeral, then going to Castle Mistmore (with our silver weapons), and then coming to help out with what is happening at Threshold.

Innana wants to kill that nasty Hobgoblin. She knows he will not answer any questions, and if he is able to escape, it will only lead to more trouble.

Lol, yes, even psychotic dwarves are vertically challenged! ;)

Innana, just a gentle reminder that our silver weapons will not be ready for another 6 days. They take a week to craft, and only 1 day has passed since we ordered them. ;)

Also, I am not sure if we will have access to the hobgoblin anymore. Although I suppose we could always ask the guards about retrieving him when we are ready to return to the castle. Maybe they really need the jail cell space right now?

It is more of a jurisdiction/law and order type thing. The Barony of Threshold is, under Patriarch Sherlane, a pretty Lawful place. Although you guys have had a fair amount of leeway thus far, the officials do take a bit of a dim view to a bunch of adventurers running around, even if the party's motives are aligned with the side of Law.

Innana is partially correct. What is incorrect is the To Do list I wrote up.

I have some things written down as orders, but, in fact, they were available for purchase.

We were able to purchase 13 silver arrows (9 went to Rhys and 5 went to Saul, though I do not believe they were listed in his inventory...): viewtopic.php?p=54628#p54628

And there were also four silver daggers available: viewtopic.php?p=54632#p54632
I believe Saul indicated his purchase of two of the silver daggers here (and mistakenly indicated 5 silver daggers when he meant arrows): viewtopic.php?p=54726#p54726

This would mean there were two silver daggers left for Innana, who was asking for four.

Also of note, Innana would no longer require a silvered weapon if she is in possession of the magical Hedfan... unless she wanted some for throwing.

Flaurmont 4, AC 1000

The adventurers awake in the morning stiff but refreshed. Marodin and Semele perform their morning rituals and ask for the healing powers of the gods, touching their companions' injuries and chasing away the hurt and pain with divine grace.
Okay, only Drudsa specified a spell to study the previous night. I am going to assume that between the hp regained from the night' rest (1) and any healing magics that all PCs are back to full hp by the beginning of the 5th.

Bregalad the elf

Bregalad will spend 8 hours on Flaurmont 4 immersed in his magical studies, attempting to learn the Sleep spell.

If funeral services are being held today for Saul, then of course he will attend them.

Lanny the elf

Although he wishes to spend the day moving around the town and gathering intelligence about Fogor's Isle, Lanny knows that an essential part of the healing process is a full day of rest. He forces himself to remain at the inn and study alongside Bregalad to try to learn the Sleep spell.
Lanny will study 8 hours if possible.

Tratiln sitting at the table with the rest of the party, just sits in his chair, slowly drinking his drink and digging into his meal. "What I don't get," Tratiln says, finishing a bite, "is if the Iron Ring Slavers want slaves, wouldn't it be counter-productive to poison their sources? However, what if somebody is trying to put Threshold into material law? When everyone is so busy looking inwards, no one notices what is happening outside. Maybe it's a ploy by Bargle or Elwyn to cause discord while they plot and scheme elsewhere." After dinner, Tratiln will go upstairs and spend some time studying Charm Person.

Tratiln will spend the day studying charm person. He will also make sure the horses are fine and fed.

The adventurers spend their day in rest and relaxation. The elves and Drudsa study their spells before the funeral services for Saul; only Drudsa has had time to grasp the complex arcane permutations, and the spell that enables one to identify the magical properties of various items is scribed into his spellbook.

Shortly before dusk the party makes it way to a subdued ceremony marking Saul's passage. Varis kindly agrees to officiate, the funeral pyre is lit and words are spoken as the indomitable scout's spirit is sent to dwell with the Immortals.
Due to the need to rest/take care of odds and ends each spellcaster only had six hours to study. Drudsa learned Analyze. If there is anything else you would like to do, or you would like to say something to memorialize Saul, do so now and I will move us along tomorrow.

Drudsa the dabbler

"I am ready to leave whenever the group is. Do we know if the arms carried by the hobgoblin were magical? If they are perhaps we can leave them at Myraal for identification, otherwise, if no one is interested in keeping those, we can donate them to the city guard."
Drudsa will now study Continual Light.
