OOC IV
Re: OOC IV
I actually vote for the Northern Frontier, but Thordin keeps whispering in my ear and that gruff voice is mighty persuasive!
Re: OOC IV
So in making sure Rhys is prepared for his first in-game combat, I'm running through the manual to make sure I have it all straight and glanced at the other character sheets to confirm. That is when I got a bit confused.
It looks like several people have basic sword proficiency, but are applying the +2 BAB to their To Hit bonus. I thought that didn't come until one had skilled sword proficiency. Or am I missing a house rule here? Or do they just have skilled sword proficiency and have not updated their character sheet fully?
I also could be reading something wrong, as well, as I'm certainly not totally familiar the Dark Dungeons rules.
I just want to make sure I understand it properly.

I don't see how the two are connected. It looks like BAB is based on the character's level, not their weapon proficiency.Alethan wrote:It looks like several people have basic sword proficiency, but are applying the +2 BAB to their To Hit bonus. Innana is partial to the North, so she votes for the Northern Frontier as well.

Ah, see? That's it. I was confusing the BAB with the +2 skilled prof bonus.sulldawga wrote:I don't see how the two are connected. Got it. Thanks, Sull.

No worries. I still pull out the rules myself nearly every time we go into combat...
Re: OOC IV
This is just getting better and better, I think Lanny is actually pissed. Great job, Frobozz and Zeb.

Re: OOC IV
Just realized I made a calendar mistake. Today should have been the 1st day of Flaurmont, which I shall change in the IC post as soon as I can.
So, that means you guys have made it through a month of exploring! From a mechanical perspective, that also means that most of the PCs have to pay a new Cost of Living for this month. Innana, Alethan, your PCs are new enough you don't have to worry about this.
The rest of you, please deduct 250 gp from your treasuries. This increased amount will cover all of your room, board, minor bribes and tips, etc. for the rest of Flaurmont.

Re: OOC IV
I will hold off posting for Flaurmont 2 until tomorrow morning. Zebediah has purchased all of the available silver sling bullets, though more can be commissioned.thirdkingdom wrote:zebediah wrote:Drudsa buys 7 spell levels worth of scribing material and 2 vials of holy water.
He also replenishes his sling bullets and buys some extra silver bullets (if these are available).
1-60% chance of 3-12 silver sling bullets: (1d100=18, 3d4=4)
Four are currently available. More can be commissioned and completed in 1d4+1=4 days.
1-75% chance of silvered arrows, 4d8 in number, more can be commissioned in 1d4 days: (1d100=41, 4d8=13, 1d4=2)
1-30% chance of finding silver warhammer, one can be made in 1d4+2 days. Either way it costs ten times the normal amount: (1d100=44, 1d4+2=3)
Re: OOC IV
Marodin will commission a silvered warhammer to be built and he'll commission as many silvered sling bullets as possible to be built in three days.
Would it be ok to assume that, if four bullets could be done in four days, three could be done in three days?
If not, Marodin will attempt to overpay in hopes of getting his bullet order to be moved up to the front of the line. Whatever the cost is, he'll double the payment. If they can make more than four (like, say, eight or ten), he'll triple it.

Re: OOC IV
Silver throwing daggers, eh?
1-50% chance that 1d4 throwing daggers are available. The others can be commissioned in 1d4+3 days for five times the list price each: (1d100=13, 1d4=4, 1d4+3=7)
Four are available, each at five times the list price. The remaining two can be commissioned and made in one week's time.

Re: OOC IV
I didn't actually specify how many sling bullets could be made in those four days. Let us say it is a matter not of production but scheduling. That is, if you are willing to commission them you could have any reasonable number of sling bullets made during the four day period.sulldawga wrote:Marodin will commission a silvered warhammer to be built and he'll commission as many silvered sling bullets as possible to be built in three days.

Re: OOC IV
I haven't been following the discussion too closely. Are we still staying in town for another three days before leaving?
And if so, what can I do to get that reasonable number of sling bullets completed in three, rather than four, days? Assuming scheduling is the issue, I could try to grease the wheels with gold to get a higher slot on the schedule, no?
I'll take any number of silvered bullets up to 15.

A couple of comments:
Why are people putting some OOC comments in this thread and some in spoilers in the IC thread? Shouldn't all OOC comments go here by definition?
I'm thinking if all the players with human PCs were trying to be realistic, we'd all be bidding a lot more than 1,000 gp for the Potion of Longevity. Especially when you consider that the average lifespan in that time was only around 40, an extra decade would be worth a fortune... But for game purposes, I think Marodin is fine with selling it. Although he thinks we should haggle and get more than Oleg's opening offer. Someone with better CHR than him should try for 1,000 gp AND a dozen healing potions.
I have been roleplaying Marodin as being primarily concerned with protecting the lands and interests of Men. So the plot hook to help the dwarves shouldn't interest him all that much. But the idea of getting them to forge him a magical warhammer has him a wee bit interested... If that quest got added to the Great Northern Frontier Loop, he wouldn't complain.

Re: OOC IV
A couple more questions, while I'm thinking about the game.
I don't remember if I'm paying Semele's monthly upkeep. If so, tk, can you remind me how much that is?
At what point can we assume Semele can handle her own equipment purchases? I have no trouble buying her platemail and backup shield now but I think she's got enough coin to handle that sort of thing going forward.

Re: OOC IV
My general rule of thumb re: OOC comments and spoilers is that short OOC comments are cool in the IC thread, provided they are in spoilers. Longer OOC comments, or those likely to spawn an OOC discussion, should be put in the OOC thread. In other words, this would be a good OOC comment in the IC thread:
In the second example, the quote is (I hope) clearly inviting a longer discussion out of character about a)what to do next and b)how dark pits of death and despair are murder on one's hair.Valerie the Virtuous
Valerie swings her hammer at the nearest threatening thug!
This would belong in the OOC thread:
So, guys, I would like to suggest that after despoiling the Temple of Triumphant Tyrants we move onto the Desert of Dervishes, rather than the Forlorn Foundries of Woe and Strife. I think Valerie would look pretty good on a camel; and anyway, all this crawling about in dank and loathsome caves has left her a trifle wan.

Hah! I forgot about Semele. She is level two, so is still paying the 50 gp a month cost of living fee. And I think you're right, she's been socking away a good deal of cash and can afford to buy equipment upgrades from here on out. I don't recall if an arrangement was made upon hiring here to pay for her upkeep or not; you guys have pretty much reached the point, however, where gold is going to become a bit meaningless -- at least until you start saving for keeps and armies and the like -- so I'm pretty content to assume she can buy her own shit from now on.
