Howdy, All!

#1 Post by majyc »

Hi there! I started with this hobby back in the days of the White Box, and have been playing ever since. In all that time I've only tried play-by-post once, as a one on one with my sister who had moved away after college and that fizzled out after a couple of months when she got too busy. I've been thinking about trying it again because although my usual face-to-face group is poised to resume meeting in person in a couple of weeks, the online VTT groups I've been participating in have really started to struggle, what with people being able to get out and about again. That leaves me jonesin' for more RPG fun, particularly with the very old school systems like Original D&D that my FTF group isn't that interested in.

How's about you all?

PbP is a different creature than FtF. They are both fun in their own ways though. Glad you are giving it another shot, couldn't have found a better place to do so!!
Welcome aboard!
This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.
Alethan: I'm good with NOT pressing our luck this time.
mjulius: That's how I know I'm home.
Pulpatoon: The whole point of PbP is to take the scheduling pressure off the game. We're just chatty because we're so eager!
Scott308: ...everyone should be reminded of just how wonderful the people they play games with here can be in real life.
Leitz: Quality and quantity wise, I think US is the best I've seen.
Paladin: I can promise terror, glory, and riches...or a quick and brutal death.
Inferno: Come on! That's was Vicar's Head, a completely different doomed village!
Rex: I can move to the wait list to let someone else into the game.

Hi,
I'm Tony, from Exeter, Devon in the UK. Been playing D&D and 1st ed AD&D since I was 10 back in 1979. Introduced some friends to the game a couple of years ago but haven't really played around a table in over 30 years. Now I'd like to play a game. I'm happily married with a 3 year old, I work as a museum curator.
I love 1st ed AD&D.
Tony :)

Welcome!
Sometimes this summer I will most likely be participating in another 24 hour game of Dungeons & Dragons as part of Extra Life. This organization uses gaming to help raise money to donate to children's hospitals. I'm raising money for Marshfield Children's Hospital in Marshfield, WI, and all money I raise will go to that hospital. All donations are tax-deductible. Please take a moment to check out my donation page below. Thank you.

Thanks for the welcome everyone. I'm preparing my character for a future game. Sorry, I know we're mostly lovers of 1st ed, but I really have no time for 5th ed gaming etc.

Welcome, majyc and Brunnacht.

If either of you are interested, I'm very close to launching a Basic D&D game (using the Old School Essential (or OSE) rules). The game hasn't officially started yet, so now is a great time to jump in if interested.

The actual game forum is here:

If interested, drop a request in my recruitment post, here:

A 1e game (or similar) may be next... but that won't be for a while, yet.

I'm still eyeing the Shadowdark RPG which hasn't been finalized yet, but I like much of what I've seen so far.
