Orbital Gods (deities and demigods)

#1 Post by Inferno »

Orbital Gods:

Image

The gods of men in these latter days are also the creations of men, though no divinity will admit to this history. These fickle, contentious beings are artificial intelligences, self aware programs with vast computational resources available to them.

High above the atmosphere, enormous satellites containing the hardware necessary to run these AI's orbit the planet. They number in the hundreds, and communicate directly to their followers through "eyes" installed in their temples below. These eyes are massive screens through which a god may directly observe its followers, and appear to them.
The gods, through means unknown to simple organic minds, are able to grant spells to their priests. The priests must pray for renewal of their powers at certain times of the day. These times are linked directly to when the AI's are in orbit directly overhead.

Pantheons of Greater Gods:

The Church of Dhee Zhee Khamix is a pantheon of human-appearing gods:

Klarkkent: Sun God and King of the Gods

Bhatt Mhann: God of Night and the Underworld

Dhianha: Goddess of Wisdom, War and Fertility

Bharri Alien: Messenger of the Gods

Queen Olivhia: Goddess of the Hunt

Hell Jhor D’Ann: God of Magic

Ahrr-Thorr: God of the Sea

Sha’Zham: God of Lightning, and rival of Klarkkent to become King of the Gods

Jho K’Arr: God of Madness and Humor

Rhidd Lore: God of Knowledge and Secrets

Lhu-Thorr: God of Technology

Dharrk 'Cide: God of Death

The Church is inspired by the few ancient illuminated manuscripts of Dhee Zhee Khamix recovered from the lost vaults of See-Jhee-See. They only survived because they had been slabbed in plastic centuries ago, rendering them unopenable, mysterious and unknowable to their followers today, except for what scarce meaning can be gleaned from their enigmatic covers, or interpreted by the wise high priests. The Church is led by pure humans.

The mutant Monster-Gods of Marr-Vhell are the DZK Pantheon’s eternal enemies:

Storrm Torch the Burning God of Fire

Gam’A Halk the Monster God of Strength and Destruction

Starrk the Iron Golem of the Forge

Grimm the Stone Giant

Lho Ghann the Monster God of Beasts and Nature

Parr K’Orr the Monster God of Spiders

Ghrewtt the Monster God of Plants and Nature

Hhaanq-Pimm, Monster God of Plagues of Insects

The Sect of Mar-Vhell are led by mutants and demi-humans. The zealot mutant followers of Marr-Vhell are sometimes called ‘Zombies’ because of their unquestioning faith.

Lesser Gods:

Nisis, goddess of the things that crawl underneath. Manifests as crawling insects, worms, arachnids, and centipedes

Iithius, goddess of flowering plants and herbs. Manifests as field of flowering poppies blowing in the wind

Wurgol, god of cutlery. Manifests as a still image of a fork and spoon

Theosaurid, god of dinosaurs. Manifests as a glittering bejewelled Tyrannosaurus Rex

Peltia, goddess of love. Manifests as woman of unearthly beauty

Lominox, god of tragedy. Manifests as veiled figure in black robes. His pronouncements are accompanied by weeping

Lodik, god of history. Manifests as a dusty leather bound tome, whose pages flip to reveal his pronouncements

Qqakraw, god of ambushes. Manifests as bare chested warrior with necklace of fanged teeth

Calina, goddess of the Twelve Annihilations. Manifests as a clock face, ticking its way towards midnight

Triboron, god of pollution. Manifests as heaps of rotting garbage and offal

Kiod, god of robots. Manifests as golden clockwork man

Saban, god of conspiracies. Manifests as robed man with featureless white mask

Daog, god of pits. Manifests as the utter blackness of the ultimate abyss

Galona, goddess of torture. Manifests as woman pierced in an iron maiden

Tabik, god of cold. Manifests as frozen corpse, still speaking

Coros, god of humility. Does not manifest visually, only speaks

Voil, god of stains. Manifests as filthy man in profoundly stained clothing

Minga, goddess of baldness. Manifests as a beautiful hairless woman

Turbax, god of construction. Manifests as a burly fellow with a hammer and saw

Rhiolades, god of wine. Manifests as cleancut fellow in blue blazer and ascot, sipping on a half full glass of wine

Demihumans worship the same gods as Humans.

Akela: Pack Mother, the Wolf Goddess.
Sometimes this summer I will most likely be participating in another 24 hour game of Dungeons & Dragons as part of Extra Life. This organization uses gaming to help raise money to donate to children's hospitals. I'm raising money for Marshfield Children's Hospital in Marshfield, WI, and all money I raise will go to that hospital. All donations are tax-deductible. Please take a moment to check out my donation page below. Thank you.
