12 - Fight in the Forest
Re: 12 - Fight in the Forest
Hi,
Since I proposed those options, the following preferences have been shared:
Character A gets the Wand of Conjuring (worth 262k gp) and no gold. In fact he/she needs to pay 646gp into the pot. Tella requested.
Character B gets the Wand of Paralysis (worth 187k gp) and 74,354gp. Roseheart requested?
Character C gets the +1 Dagger (worth 5,625gp) and 255,729gp. Enoka requested.
Character D gets the +2/+1 Ring of Protection (worth 112,500gp) and 148,854gp. Vek requested.
Character E gets 261,354 gp
Character F gets 261,354 gp. Glimble requested.
Garl?
Roseheart, is that correct?

Tella
Okay...
Tella will try to strike a deal with the mages guild for the sale of the major magic items: @DM: give us a price.
BTW: If Tella had received the wand,... it would have been the first and only magic item she received in the game through play. Everything she currently has/had is purchased in her current inventory. Never found a damn thing. Great that the followers of Gond can just snatch up artifacts... been playing a long time. Done.

Re: 12 - Fight in the Forest
I'm fine with that if no one else wants the wand of paralysis (or we decide to sell it for something else)

I thought Tella was receiving the wand:spanningtree wrote:Tella

The same goes for Vek. And I've been playing this great game for 3 years.spanningtree wrote:... it would have been the first and only magic item she received in the game through play. Everything she currently has/had is purchased in her current inventory. Never found a damn thing.
That said, I think we can agree that any PC who goes on an adventure (like this 14 month long Fatman mission), even if they are newer to the game, should get an equal share of that adventure's treasure, right?

Are you passing on the Wand of Conjuring?
If yes, Roseheart, do you want it, before we sell it?

Re: 12 - Fight in the Forest
I'm happy to sell it for others to pick up something. I had a rod of absorption when starting the game and picked up a polymorph wand along the way. So i'm happy to give the other two wands to someone else (or sell them) so that we can pick up new spells, weapons, or magic to delve deeper into the Dark.
Re: 12 - Fight in the Forest
Folks - sorry about my absence in the last couple -- I'm just logging back in after a few days, and unfortunately I'll have to be away for a few more days, and won't be able to be online..
I've had several folks inquire about quitting the game through PM or on these boards, and perhaps it is time to retire this one. I'm pretty bummed, because I've had a blast running this game, but everything has its season. I'll try to post again this weekend or early next week, but I'm thinking it likely won't matter, I think we currently have more folks ready to leave than folks willing to stay...
If we stop here, I'd like us all to remember that we've have had 4 great years of RP in forgotten realms and in Undermountain. You went from wandering around in the first level to digging much deeper and eventually taking out one of the major players in Skullport. I'm happy with how the game went, and I hope if we end here, the abruptness of this ending won't sour the good times we've had.
Little bit of nostalgia -- 4 years ago - Jan 31, 2014 -- I wrote about your little crew sailing into the city:
It seems miles long, a great pile of stone buildings sprawling down the side of Mount Waterdeep, and the windows and smokestacks speak of industry and adventure. What coin and wealth can be had in a place like this, the sight of the place fills you with goosebumps. Most of the buildings near the docks are small squat stone structures, or wooden warehouses, but here and there are some amazing oddities. There are castles within these city walls, villas, wizards towers, temples with gargolyed spires. Even down by the docks is a massive building, where inside you can see men heaving ropes, and lifting massive timbers to build another full size galley ship.
You entered the city, delved under its streets, and found adventures. You solved traps, and took on fearsome foes: the drow, demons, undead, and more. We created memories, and I hope we all had fun playing around in this world of imagination. I was really blessed with a great and dedicated group of role-players -- you guys made this game fun for me, and you guys were the force that kept it rolling for so long.

Re: 12 - Fight in the Forest
Hate to see it go, but this is a fitting, "happily ever after" kind of treasure haul.
Thanks Darkmane, and everyone, for the great fun. I really enjoyed it. See you around.

Re: 12 - Fight in the Forest
I wasn't in game for all 4 years but the time I was here I did enjoy it. I think Glimble will either retire right here in Waterdeep or perhaps go see Candlekeep that he has always wanted to see. Thanks Darkmane. BTW I am only half up for "retirement" the gnome cleric of Gond has been quite something to play. However I would be more willing to continue on perhaps with a different character.

Re: 12 - Fight in the Forest
I too think Garl should head off into the sunset with his money and take care of his family. I am potentially open to continuing with Roseheart using a new character. Depending on who is still around will of course determine what is needed.
Re: 12 - Fight in the Forest
Vek can continue if the game does. He'll likely give away most of his gold, as usual.
Re: 12 - Fight in the Forest
Enoka will continue or change characters if needed.
I'd also like to point out that we are third from the top of active the games listed. That's quite an achievement.

Re: 12 - Fight in the Forest
After really thinking it through, I do think it is time to retire this game. I know a lot of you have invested a lot of time into this game, and we did make it as one of the longest running games on this board, but I think our last battle with the Fat Man and the resulting treasure haul (which is enough for each character to build a castle or a significant structure inside of Waterdeep itself!) really is a good retiring point.
I had been thinking of starting up a Superhero game in parallel with this one in the upcoming weeks, due to my itch for a genre change, and I was originally planning just a one shot, but maybe I'll see if I could string together a couple of arcs. I'm pulling together plans for it now, and should be posting an advert for it on the boards in the next week or two.
I'll send each of you a PM, I really did enjoy this game over the last years, and really enjoyed having such a great group of role-players.
