Summon insects is incredibly powerful for a 3rd-level spell (or infernal power). In AD&D1e, it takes one enemy completely out of combat for the duration of the spell (unless someone else can do something about it).PHB p. 58 wrote:The attacked creature will sustain 2 hit points of damage per melee round, and it can do nothing but attempt to fend off these insects during the time it is so attacked.
OOC Discussion and Table Talk
Re: OOC Discussion and Table Talk
The wording of the spell description is pretty absolute:
Re: OOC Discussion and Table Talk
And there's no saving throw! It's a monk's kryptonite.
My druids love this spell when they hit third level.

Hey all. No guarantees, but I'm considering trying to use the RPGTools map tool to manage combats. If there's any image you'd like me to use for your PC's token, post it here.
I already have images for Odilo and Risdac.

Re: OOC Discussion and Table Talk
Thanks, everyone.
I'll wait for a new move from Risdac the no-longer actionless, and probably update on Wednesday.

What area does Odilo plan to have the hound guard? Note that it can't attack unless a creature turns its back to it.GreyWolfVT wrote:Odilo frustrated that his spells are having seemingly no effect sighs with frustration but wastes little time in working another spell casting Mordenkainen’s Faithful Hound in hopes that it can help Hallagad fend off the frog like creature he tries to summon it as near to Hallagad as he can.
I will house rule the duration, though, to use the 2e rules instead of the short duration in 1e. It lasts 1 hour + 1/2 hour per caster level until triggered, ten 2 rounds/level.

Re: OOC Discussion and Table Talk
never mind obviously my spells suck for this battle so I'll just edit my post.

Re: OOC Discussion and Table Talk
Is malibran close enough to Hallagad to heal him?
Re: OOC Discussion and Table Talk
Malibran is about 80' from Hallagad, so he's have to spend a round getting to him.
Re: OOC Discussion and Table Talk
The water is gone. Malibran wished it away. Odilo and Xale are now standing on a ledge 15' above the floor where everyone else is standing. Odilo is within range for the spell where he is, though.GreyWolfVT wrote:Odilo frustrated that his spells are having seemingly no effect sighs with frustration but wastes little time in working another spell Confusion on the frog like creature, the mage moves close enough to be in range to cast his spell so long as he does not need to get into the water.

Tanner and the vulture things are about 120' away (and about 20' up) from Xale—well out of range of his hammer.Rex wrote:Xale
Xale turns and hurls his hammer at one of the vulture things on Tanner.
Hurl Dwarven Thrower [1d20+3] = 6+3 = 9 damage [2d4+11] = 7+11 = 18/[2d4+10] = 4+10 = 14
Re: OOC Discussion and Table Talk
Ok, I will throw at the frog things again. Not that it matters since I obviously couldn't roll to save my life right now. Editing post.

The Unseen Servant is 17th level, which I think puts his chance of killing as 10% + target AC. Just in case that 1% ever makes a difference.Inferno wrote:(Fyi, in open hand combat, he Stuns opponent for 1d6 rounds if hits by more than 4 on d20 "to hit" roll.
