VII. The Lost City
Re: VII. The Lost City
"Thanks to Bingus, we are familiar with the dangers that await," says Lúthon. "Let us continue our explorations in this place. Do lead on, brave dwarf."
Re: VII. The Lost City
Peering into the naturally dug hole in the center of the structure while everyone overlooks, Relve notices that the secure rope ladder goes down approximately 30-feet. The entire length is dark, and there are no noises, smells, or breezes detected.

Re: VII. The Lost City
"There ain't nothing in that bigger building. And I'm here to tell you that the more you poke your nose around this island, the more likely to get it chopped right off. Least we know what's under there. And as for them being friendly...well...we met some primitive-like men that were just about as naked as the day they was born. We helped 'em fight off some dogmen. Then they came in here and we followed 'em down there" points Bingus down the rope ladder.
"Next thing we know, some guard called some bats to attack us. The unclothed weren't nowhere to be seen. Then they attacked us. We didn't invade a goddam thing. But you're welcome to go talk to 'em if you want. I'll wait up here."

Xhalh Vhaldharian, human knight:
Content that he hadn't accidentally fallen in with lawless marauders or pirates, the brutish banneret said thickly to Bingus, "Um... grant you mercy. Uh. Pray pardon, good sir."
The long-shanked warrior will follow the dwarf down the shaft, to adventure and glory, he hoped.

Relve "Yes certainly. If I don't come back send Dorin in after me." and down the rope ladder goes Relve.
Dorin "Aye. Wouldna let me own kin die alone down in no hole Relve." he states with a grin and a clever wink.

Lüthon waits patiently for a report.
Malfindel waits less patiently. "Well? See anything?"

Re: VII. The Lost City
Relve a few moments later comes back out of the hole to relay his findings "Well a bit hard to see much down there but the only things giving off any thing on my low light vision was what I can assume are the bats Bingus spoke of there was a few of em above me about two feet long."

"No use standing around up here scared of a couple of bats," grumbles Malfindel with a significant look at the dwarf and fighter who are supposed to be at the front of the marching order. "Come on, then. In we go."

Re: VII. The Lost City
Relve "I'm not scared. Just reporting back that a light source would be smart and that there are indeed bats possibly down here. Back down I go." and back down the dwarf goes.
Dorin "Be down in a minute. Them bat's w'll taste me axe soon." he chuckles and gets ready to go down after Relve.

Re: VII. The Lost City
His complexion a little paler than it was minutes ago, Bingus steps down the ladder in order.
Re: VII. The Lost City
Please let me know:
Feel free to discuss in the 'ooc' thread, if needed.
- What light source(s) will be used, and who will be carrying them?
- The order of descent (and if anyone will be staying topside).

Re: VII. The Lost City
The plan is for Relve to return below ground with his lantern first, followed by Xhalh, Lúthon, Malfindel, Bingus, Rummus, and finally Dorin, in order.
Once Relve again sets foot on the lower level, he finds himself on a small landing, with the only apparent area to explore being north, where a passage runs approximately 30-feet, but, after 10-feet, a 15-wide chasm splits the the passage. A bridge of fairly recent construction, made of strong hemp ropes woven and tied around closely set planks of wood, is firmly attached at both ends. A rope hand rail, at waist height, runs along both sides of the bridge.
There doesn't seem to be any reaction to his arrival, or the sudden appearance of a light source, but only he, Xhalah, and Luthon are able to fit on this landing before Relve will be forced to set foot on the bridge. Actions?

Re: VII. The Lost City
Relve having lit his lantern and now needing to make room for the others takes a step onto the bridge move to 4 please and looks around as far as he can see by the lantern's light.
Dorin keeps watch on the way down the ladder once he gets to the bottom and is in line with the others making sure nobody else is following them.

Re: VII. The Lost City
Lúthon and Malfindel follow along, bows at the ready should any of the bats attack.
Re: VII. The Lost City
Rummus likewise has bow held with arrow nocked, ready for a defensive attack.

Re: VII. The Lost City
Bingus flexes his fingers, ready to call on them for casting if needed. He also keeps his dagger in easy reach on his belt.
Re: VII. The Lost City
Malfindel and Bingus find room on the landing after Relve advances to the middle of the rope bridge. With his lantern spilling light 30-feet in all directions, the group already on the ground instantly become aware that they are in an underground cave system of sorts, with ceilings approximately 20-feet high and lined with stalactites. Those with infravision, and armed with the previous knowledge shared by Relve, do spot three heat signatures dangling at various points overhead, each resembling an unmoving, two-foot long narrow tube. They do not, at least initially, react to the group's presence or the light from their lantern.
The northern passage T's approximately 15-feet in front of Relve's current position, with branches running east and west. Off to his right, down the eastern branch, the dwarf notices the sturdy bridge system he's on spans another chasm. The illumination of his lantern does not span the end of this eastern chasm, but what appears to be the start, or possibly the end, of another gaping whole in the ground is detected due east of the initial landing.

Re: VII. The Lost City
Relve heads to the right where the rope bridge meets the long part of the T intersection space 19 on the map again stopping and looking around.
