Pendleton applies a first aid kit to Sasha's wounds.

"Our wisest move would be to get out of here with the greatest haste," he says. "But perhaps we might yet risk venturing back down long enough to inspect the remains of our armored foes. Strange men those, if men they were, who never spoke and whose faces we could not see. If they had faces!"

"We could also rig up a rope system to pull the bodies of our fallen comrades out of the pit."

Pendleton applies a first aid kit to Sasha's wounds and the health of the female elf appears to be fully restored.

Phineas T. Codswallop, impresario:
"Fear not, dear, gentle maiden. Phineas T. Codswallop is here now."

Although she is happy to see the little man still alive, Sasha responds sarcastically.
Oh, thank the seven heavens for that!!!



After being healed, she thanks Penny and agrees that the bodies (mostly the possessions) should definitely be recovered if possible.

If you want, I will climb back down to see if the coast is clear.

"Then I will go with you," says Pendleton, "for what little that's worth. I want to see what's inside those helmets"

"OK, let's go. But we surface immediately if anyone approaches, right?" says Bingus nervously.

Sorry, away at family funeral last couple of days...

Phineas T. Codswallop, impresario:

Oh, thank the seven heavens for that!!!

Phineas nodded in assent to Sasha's sage exclamation. He kept up with the flowery patter of love, "Be not ashamed of thy craven pusillanimity, madam. I've often heard it verbalized that Elves, being long lived, have much more to lose in death than Men, hence their correspondingly heightened cowardice and fear. Also, you are a member of the feminine persuasion. So, between the two, you should consider yourself completely absolved of the ignominy, chagrin and dishonor of having abandoned your compatriots to their agonizing fates. It's utterly understandable!
"Are you ready to descend?"

Phineas will share what was revealed when he claimed the guard's helm as his new hat, and join the group down. "Keep calm everyone. Don't panic. Again."

Sasha smiles thinly at the tiny man, not exactly sure what he just said.

She then starts back down the ladder to see if there is any more action happening below.

As Sasha begins to lower herself down into the hole and begin her descent, the familiar clinking of metal is intermittently heard from below.

Sasha hurriedly climbs back out of the hole.

Well, I guess that's that then.

Unless you think you can talk your way back in there shorty?

The metal clanking noise pauses briefly deeper within the underground, then seems to be growing louder as the source of the clanking presumably begins approaching the landing below.

"Get up here, you dadburn fool!" hisses Bingus to Sasha. "We've lost enough today already!"

He motions to the oil flask he has ready to drop on Sasha's pursuer.

Phineas T. Codswallop, impresario:

Unless you think you can talk your way back in there shorty?

"Alas, dear maiden, not everyone is as unabashedly captivated with my riveting elocution as you. These mutes must be deaf as well!"

He nocked an arrow and waited for an armored target to attempt to climb the ladder. At Bingus' words, Phineas says, "Well, if you abandoned poor Morgan in life, I shouldn't be surprised that you abandon her in death. Have you courageous adventurers ever considered another line of work?"

In case an armored target starts climbing the ladder:
Phineas w Bow, just in case: +2 dex, +1 lvl, +1 range, +3 ac: [1d20+7] = 1+7 = 8

After seeing the initial fire tossing skills of her mage friends, Sasha quickly pulls out her fire kit and strikes a flame to a small piece of cloth.

If the oil is used to douse a peruser, she will drop the flame onto the accelerant.

She responds to Phineas.
What would you have us do down there? Continue to fight an adversary that we have no chance of defeating until every last one of us was dead? I don't blame the skinny guys for running any more than I blame myself. Whatever happened to "live to fight another day" and all that. We all knew there would be danger out here. If the dwarf didn't open that door, we may have had a chance.

What would you have us do down there? Continue to fight an adversary that we have no chance of defeating until every last one of us was dead?

"An ordered retreat, moving everyone from harm's way concertedly would have made it conceivable to safeguard this little enterprise's morale henceforward, instead of the discombobulated every-woman-for-herself thing," the little man whispered, his bowstring pulled taut, arrow feathers tickling his mighty mustache. "But shush now, my lovely. Yon armored myrmidons approach."

The group plans to return to the depths below, and Sasha begins to to lower herself down the ladder... until the familiar clanking sound is heard. "Get up here, you dadburn fool!" hisses Bingus, urging Sasha back to the surface while reading the flask of oil he has in his hand. Pendleton readies a big (for him) rock, and Phineas readies an arrow, while Sasha successfully works her way back to solid ground.

The clanking sound seems to come right up to the base of the landing below, pauses, then begins to retreat without making an appearance.

"We seem to have reached an understanding of sorts," observes Pendleton. "If we don't try to go back down, they won't try to come up."

He frowns. "Too bad, that. I really did want to know what's behind those face plates. Perhaps we could come back tomorrow, if we are still here. Today, however, I believe our best move is to get back to the Devil's Mistress."

[AleBelly]

Bingus, perhaps reeling from losing half the party today, nods blankly and turns to head back to the ship with little enthusiasm. He speaks but one sentence on the return journey. "If mister bigbritches says a single thing rotte, i'm a sock him in his fuggin' jaw."
