Re: Some BX Adventure [Waitlist]
I like the idea of doing this for stat rolls. Easy and you can't 'cheat' the roller.dmw71 wrote: STR: [3d6], INT: [3d6], WIS: [3d6]

I'm going to set up the forums now.

No worries; I'm not trying to rush the start of it all. No, seriously, I'm not.dmw71 wrote:We're not actually starting the character generation process yet, but this is true. Once the game forum has been created, I'll start posting the house rules I'm working on, which will include all the details on generating your ability scores. At a high level, it will basically be using the following two macros, but there are other steps to consider, so please sit tight for a bit longer.Alethan wrote:I assume it will be an honest roll method?

I'm as excited as anyone, but since I'm not even sure what I'm going to run yet, it will be a while before we're ready to actually ready to start playing.
(I'm really not!)
But it's good information to have out there for the players already signed up and the potential players on the waiting list.
Know that you are likely to have really shitty rolls. Whether or not we have a good game is going to be dependent upon you playing a heroic character, and not your character having heroic stats.
Dragon foot. Bamboo pole. Little mouse. Tiny boy.

OD&D: Where your character may very well be less strong, intelligent, wise, hardy, and/or charismatic than you are.

As a wise bard once said, that's where the fun is!Alethan wrote:Know that you are likely to have really shitty rolls. Whether or not we have a good game is going to be dependent upon you playing a heroic character, and not your character having heroic stats.
As much as I enjoy 4d6c1 in AD&D, 3d6 in order has a different kind of fun. It's a more frightening chargen and when you do get a high number it's all that more special. You're still likely to die, but still. When I was playing OD&D the DM added the supplements to the LBBs, and one of our players got a 17 in Charisma - Paladins were in the Greyhawk supplement (book IV I think) and we actually had a paladin in the group. It was cool, then he died, but still it was amazing just to get the character. Good times!
I guess you haven't seen a picture of me!Zhym wrote:OD&D: Where your character may very well be less strong, intelligent, wise, hardy, and/or charismatic than you are.
But yeah, it was the grittiest of editions I've ever played.
This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.
Re: Some BX Adventure [Waitlist]
No problem. You're fourth on the list.Inferno wrote:Please add me to the waitlist. Thanks!
