Chapter 3: Arrival in Gaer Anobaith & the Foamy Mugg Inn
Chapter 3: Arrival in Gaer Anobaith & the Foamy Mugg Inn
Your travels have brought you some sixty miles along the mountain road from Caer Brennau.
Ahead you see a large wood and stone keep that is surrounded by small military tents and a log building with a stone base.
A small barn sits behind the log building. A sign rests in front of the building but it is too distant to read.
There appears to be little activity around the fort. The flag of Caer Brennau flies at half mast on the highest lookout.
As you move closer you see evidence of recent skirmishes.
Some of the tents are damaged and there is a pile of small humanoid bodies heaped on a bonfire to the side of the camp.
The sign in front of the building is now readable.
It says Foamy Mugg Inn and pictures a dwarf with a beard of foam holding a large mug.
It is around 7:00 pm when the adventurers arrive. (You left camp around 8am).

Cayley:
The priestess sees the flag at half mast, "While it is good to get here, there has obviously been trouble with some of the good side falling." She glaces over at the pile of bodies, "Are those goblins or kobolds? Can't say I have ever seen either."
"Okay, we are here to find the dwarf Mugg Grimhammer or perhaps the half-elf Idhrenwen, and the inn would seem to be the place to start looking."

"Ah well see looking for a Dwarf why not follow the signs.", he points to the sign of the dwarf with a foamy beard and mug with his staff.

Dungeon Master:
When Procyon & Cayley, approaches the burning pile of bodies one of the guards watching over it says,
"Nothing to see here, move along, I suggest you travelers, to stay at the Inn until the ok is given to move about."
"It's for your own Safety."

Dungeon Master:
As the adventurers approach the Foamy Mugg Inn you notice, that the exterior is of log construction
with a stone foundation that rises 5 feet above the ground.
The stone meets to form two large chimneys that rest on either end of the building.
The roof is 10 feet high on the low end and peaks at 25 feet in the center.
As you enter the Inn, you notice the doors are cedar and the entire place smells of wood and malted ale.
The entry foyer has three doors besides the one you entered.
The entire building smells of cedar and malted ale.
The floors are polished hardwood with a dark rich stain.
A matching chair rail decorated with brass fittings covers all of the walls save the one to your back.
A large wooden butcher-block table is on your right as you enter onto a mud stained area rug.
All the doors are closed to keep out the cold.
The south door has a sign saying "Bar & Dining Area", the other door sign to the east says, "Guest Rooms", the door sign to the west says, "Employees Only".

Dungeon Master:
You all enter a warm common room filled with soldiers, dwarves, and commoners.
A large bar dominates the northern portion of the room.
On the west wall is a grand fireplace.
Mounted over the fireplace is a picture of a majestic dwarf with a beard of silver.
He wields a dwarven waraxe in each hand.
There are three round tables and two square tables scattered about the common room, along with over a dozen chairs.
Every ten to fifteen feet along the wall is a sconce providing ample light to the room.
A burly dwarf and two barmaids provide service to the room.

Arn:
Sidles over to the nearest unoccupied table and motions for everyone to join him.
'Please, consider the first round on me.'
He calls out to the burly dwarf, first asking if he knows the whereabouts of Mugg Grimhammer, and then asking him to fetch for everyone in the party whatever they want, and a glass of dark wine for himself.

Cayley:
Cayley looks at the bodies, particularly any that are yet to tossed on the pyre, trying to see what the party is up against. She turns to the guard, "Are these goblins or kobolds? I presume they attacked. How many of them were slain? How many defenders were lost?"
She waits for answers to her questions, "Thank you. Please accept my condolences on your losses. May their gods watch over them in the afterlife."
Assuming neither the bard nor she has any other questions she will give a not towards the inn and head that way.

Jenks:
Jenks takes a quick look at the doors in the entry and, out of habit, notes if any have any obvious locks. He follows the others into the main room taking note of the layout of the room, the exits, and occupants. He pulls up a chair where he can put his back to a wall and takes a seat.
He nods to Arn, "I'll have an ale."

Hemlocks:
Setting down alongside the table, with the other adventures, Hemlocks lights up a smoke and say,
"Mead for me please". He points at the burly dwarf that works behind the counter. "I bet our dwarf friend is that guy right over there."

Re: Chapter 3: Arrival in Gaer Anobaith & the Foamy Mug Inn
Dungeon Master:
The Party seats themselves at nearby tables & Arn calls out for Mugg Grimhammer, whose attention he gets, the busy Mugg calls out, "Glenys! We got customers over there!", & points towards Arn & the others.
Glenys comes over to Arn & says,
"Good evening folks, sorry for things being quiet hectic around town, what with the goblin raids, what can i get you all?"
"For drinks we have, four different ales, mead, wine, juice, goat's milk & water. On the menu there is bread, smoked meats, lamb, venison, beef stew & cheese."
Arn orders dark wine, Jenks orders an ale, Hemlocks lights a smoke while contemplating, the Doctor orders feywine.
A dwarf fellow is seen coming out of the kitchen door behind the bar with a hot plate of food which he sets down on the counter to be served.
The are 14 other patrons in the room, a mix of soldiers, dwarves, & commoners & one other server.
