Re: Chapter 5: The Darkness of Dimwater
Aric breathes deeply and clenches his fists repeatedly, trying to remain calm. The young barbarian thinks back on the advice his elders gave him before setting out into the world.
Re: Chapter 5: The Darkness of Dimwater
Aric, Yon, Kragg, and Wil awaken from their peculiar slumber and wonder if their visions are divine in nature or merely hallucinogenic effects brought on by the odd incense. A minor feeling of sluggishness remains, but their wits have returned for the most part.
Tension follows and tempers flare; however, anger subsides, and the adventurers are faced with a multitude of decisions as where to proceed next.

P.T. Codswallop, halfling impresario:
"My esteemed colleagues, shall we head back that way and try the easternmost doors?" Phineas pointed dramatically, misdirecting attention away from his attempt to palm some hallucinogenic incense.
"Easy there, big fella! You wanna inhale those fumes and pass out again?"Grognardsw wrote:Aric breathes deeply...

Re: Chapter 5: The Darkness of Dimwater
Wil shakes off the slumber which overcame him and moves to take action on Phineas' suggestion. He'll check out that eastern most door for any signs of trickery or clues before proceeding.
Re: Chapter 5: The Darkness of Dimwater
Yon agrees. Eastward, towards the rising Sun and the Lord's Light.
Re: Chapter 5: The Darkness of Dimwater
Hexalon unsure of what is really going on, follows the others east, waiting for them to get a little ahead before the long haired halfling wanders after, eyes alert for danger, daggers ready

Kragg from the hallway "Why don't we just go down there." the dwarf points at the direction directly opposite the incense room.

To Kragg, I'm curious about that hallway too though what I saw so far suggests we had better have a good plan on how to progress to get through there safely.
To everyone, Whichever direction we head next, let's get started. Staying here makes me nervous. The commotion we caused could draw the curious.

Kragg "Agreed Osprey, we should perhaps move on from this space. We can discuss in a less open space."

Re: Chapter 5: The Darkness of Dimwater
The party proceeds with caution, deciding to make their way back to the easternmost doors in the antechamber (area 5).
Wil runs his hands over the double doors, examining their surfaces for anything of interest, but he finds no clues.

Whilst the others inspect the eastern doorway, Hex will pop his head behind the northern portals and see what he can.

P. T. Codswallop, halfling impresario:
The little big mouth falls uncharacteristically silent as he carefully checks the easternmost doors for traps. Then he listens at them. If nothing comes from either activity, and Kragg doesn't want to have a look or listen, then Phineas will try to quietly open the doors.
Find Traps: (30%): [1d100] = 40

Kragg searches the doors as well for traps or anything odd about them.

While the group is back in the large room (5), Osprey creeps up the stairs to listen at the trap door at the top of them. Any advance notice of activity would be helpful. Plus, they may need options for a quick retreat in the near future. He keeps an eye out for when the others are ready to go through the east doors at which time he will go back down and wait with bow ready for when doors opened.

Re: Chapter 5: The Darkness of Dimwater
Hex peers down the hall to the north, but the darkness prevents the illusionist from seeing anything beyond about 30'.
Osprey investigates the stairs to the south that end abruptly into the ceiling. He listens intently, but no sounds are emitted through the smooth stone surface.
Ever wary of traps, Phineas and Kragg employ their skills upon the set of double doors, but they find no traces of anything that might prove harmful.
Finding no apparent dangers, Phineas presses his ear against the wood, trying to detect any sounds from within. Initially, all is silent; however, just as he is about to pull away, the wiley halfling detects something (Inferno, please see PM).

P.T. Codswallop, halfling impresario:
Phineas looks incredulously at the door. "Dames crying. That's my weakness," he mutters to himself.
"Someone's in there," he whispers to his business associates. "Bawling their eyes out!
"Maybe you should kick it open. Surprise them," he added to the big brawny roustabout as he got out of the way.

Sword drawn and shield up, Aric kicks open the door. If it is not locked, he will open in a normal fashion.

Re: Chapter 5: The Darkness of Dimwater
Kragg draws his scimitar and follows Aric "Ah yes damsels in distress likely a ruse to draw us all into a trap, once more into the breech my friends!"

Re: Chapter 5: The Darkness of Dimwater
Aric opens the door with sword and shield held at the ready and peers into the darkened room beyond.
The chamber has the look of a former vestry, and there are a number of moth-eaten ceremonial robes, stoles, and prayer shawls hanging from pegs along the far wall.
A circular rug occupies the center of the floor, and a tall ornate cabinet stands against the west wall. Shallow niches are carved into the top of each of the four walls, housing large brass lanterns.
There is a narrow door that stands ajar in the southeast corner and another larger door to the north, which is closed.
