Re: Chapter 5: The Darkness of Dimwater
If the corpses are safe enough (not smoldering) Wil continues his methodical dismantling of any skeleton he finds. In this case, settling for kicking off the head if need be.

The Luminescent Dead: Round 3
The rancid smoke causes the party to violently cough and retch as it continues to spread throughout the passageway. Hex, Kragg, Phineas, and Yon hastily retreat back to the other end of the corridor hoping that the valiant monk, elf, and Northman can dispose of the evil dead.
Osprey draws his long sword to face the onslaught of the undead; however, the smoke continues to assault the warrior-mage, and he fails to make contact.
Aric slashes with his blade and carves a mighty gash into the putrescent flesh of the zombie before him. The creature falls at the warrior’s feet, finally finding rest from its shadowed life; however, before Aric can fully recover from his swing, another one of the vicious dead clamps down on the barbarian’s forearm with its rotting maw (6 HP damage).
The zombie facing Osprey feebly lurches at the elf, trips, and lies stunned on the floor while Wil proceeds to dismantle the fallen corpse at Aric’s feet to ensure that it is indeed dead.

Re: Chapter 5: The Darkness of Dimwater
Is there room for wil to attack?
Re: Chapter 5: The Darkness of Dimwater
No, not unless Osprey or Aric move back. The hallway is only about 10' feet wide, so only two people can attack at a time.ravenn4544 wrote:Is there room for wil to attack?

Osprey disgustedly swings on the stunned zombie at his feet.
to hit [1d20+2] = 10+2 = 12
damage [1d8] = 5
What was that lever for again when we first came down here? Does it allow us to flood the tunnel for example or anything useful against all of this?

Aric growls and hews at the zombie on him. But Crom (and Dice Roller) care not and laugh at his fate.

Phineas waits impatiently to get a shot in. "Confound these tight quarters!"
If the front line hit the deck or fall back, he'll loose arrows at a xylem zombie.

The Luminescent Dead: Round 4
The vile, black smoke that once filled the passageway finally begins to dissipate.
Phineas, Hex, Kragg, and Yon stand at the far end of the hall watching in anticipation as Osprey and Aric struggle to vanquish the last of the two remaining zombies.
Osprey takes advantage of the prone undead that lies stunned at his feet by bringing his long sword down to impale the wretched creature, and it perishes with a raspy moan.
After being bitten by one of the foul beasts, Aric tries to punish the offending creature with steel; however, the blood oozing from his bite wound causes him to temporarily lose his grip on his sword, and he misses.
The last of the fetid beings snarls at Aric and tries to yet again bite the Northman, but its jaws snap shut on empty air.
After having made sure that the zombie Aric slew remains dead, Wil rises and stands just behind the barbarian and the elf, hoping for an opening so that he may strike.

Hex will continue to watch the rear of the party to ensure no one surprises the group as they engage the last zombie
Greys Campaign.

Osprey comes from the side to strike with his long sword while the last zombie is focused on Aric.

Oh, just forget it!

Yon watches the constricted battle, or what he can see of it through the smoky haze, with concern. He hopes no one gets hurt too badly, as he will not have the power to heal anyone til tomorrow... "So Phineas, have you seen or read of the like before in your studies? Is it the fungus that turns them into these creatures? If so, I wonder how the fungus overcame them in the first place?"

"THIS DAMN SMOKE!" curses Aric.
Bastard sword attack (THACO 20) [1d20+3] = 2+3 = 5 Damage SM [2d4+4] = 4+4 = 8, L [2d8] = 10

The Luminescent Dead: Round 5
The majority of the party looks on as Osprey and Aric try to fend off the last of the merciless undead.
Aric's frustrations continue to build as the barbarian is plagued by the rancid smoke and the blood from his wound. He lashes out with his bastard sword, but his target eludes him yet again.
Osprey attempts to hack at the zombie engaged with Aric, but he is also unsuccessful in striking the vulgar creature. The monstrosity then turns its attention to Osprey himself and lunges forward, slashing at his throat with its grave-blackened nails; however, the lithe elf presses himself against the corridor wall just in time to evade the undead’s attack.

Osprey swings again, wondering if he will be killed first by the zombie or by simply being too demoralized from constantly missing. This damn smoke!
To hit with LONGSWORD [1d20+1] = 20+1 = 21; Damage S/M [1d8] = 6; Damage L [1d12] = 9

The Luminescent Dead: Round 6
Unleashing his pent up rage, Osprey swings his long sword in a deadly arc. The steel bites deeply into the decayed thing's side, and it instinctively grasps the blade with both of its rotting, talon-like hands. Its last fetid breath escapes with a sigh, and it slowly slides away from the sword to land on the floor with a sickening thud.
As the battle concludes, the smoke from the fungus and burning corpses finally ceases, giving the group respite from the noxious fumes. The only sound filling the empty hall is the labored breathing of Aric and Osprey as the heroic elf and barbarian lean against the wall to recover from their exertion. While doing so, they glance down at the carcasses strewn before them, and their attention is drawn to something of interest, something glinting, something steel.
Hanging from the belt of one of the corpses is a sheathed dagger that seems miraculously unharmed by the recent conflagration, and from the looks of the weapon’s crossguard and hilt, it appears to be of exceptional quality. Its sterling silver pommel is fashioned to resemble a lion’s paw, and its exquisite detail even extends to five slivers of ivory inlaid to represent its “claws.”

Thank you, Kragg, or perhaps dumb luck just got tired of waiting. He smiles wanly.
Intrigued by the artisanship of the dagger Osprey cautiously removes the sheathed weapon from the thing's belt, watchful of the creature that it doesn't reawaken.
