Ha. Grothnak and the old hermit agree the party shouldn't split up, while Bo and Mouser keep suggesting inventive new ways to split the party up.

I'm travelling for work this week. I don't expect to get online. I'll be back by October 3rd. Have a good week of getting aligned on next steps. :)
Please?

Thanks!

Well gang,

As usual, there's some wonderful role playing going on and as much as I've enjoyed it, we've been chewing on next steps for a month now, with no sign of resolution or compromise. Regrettably, at this point, I have no choice but to reluctantly intercede. :)

All aboard my railroad. ;) Actually, I really don't want to decide for you, so I'll go with majority rule. Near as I can tell, with Hoom's jailbreak just removed from consideration, here's where you stand:
    • 1. Grothnak's first plan was: Stick together. Rest and hide until nightfall. Then the group invades the church together under cover of darkness, with the rogues climbing the wall and letting the entire party in.

      2. Bo says: He drinks the potion and enters the church now in the guise of a heinous snake man, or a constable, with two of the party pretending to be prisoners. The rest of the party waits outside for a sign.
But no one here knows if the constables are infected by the evil of Briarsgate.

      3. Mouser says: Always eager to dabble with magic, Mouser volunteers to drink Bo's potion now, transform into a mouse, and enter alone while everyone else waits for him to come back with his report.

Moogeye agrees with Mouser (plan 3).

Pelias and Telkis don't want to split up, so that aligns them both with Grothnak's plan (plan 1).

Ingrid said let's go now in broad daylight. When no one seconded that idea, she said, let's go at night (plan 1). I'm sure she'll settle for any plan at this point.

Telkis has said at least twice that he's not enlisting the field mice.

Grothnak's plan (plan 1) wins with 4 votes! With Avril away from the table, 4 out of 7 is a majority.

Please go now to the latest installment of our newly unparalyzed tale of unspeakable horror: Chapter 9: Temple of Fear.

Thanks everyone, for your patience and understanding. :)

Sephus' absence seems to indicate that Hoom is not in the jail.

DM Rulings grab bag:
Grognardsw wrote:Is there any bonus for the target being entangled?
Yes, +4 to hit stunned, prone or motionless targets. Additionally, Dex modifiers to AC are negated.
OGRE MAGE wrote:I guess I should have asked this first but....is the casting Druid immune to the effects of his own Entangle spell?
I'll say yes, given a 3rd level druid's abilities to pass unhindered through overgrown areas, and that I don't make Sleep spells affect the caster. However, allies ARE affected.

Re: Avril's heartfelt plea: as per the House Rules:
Unconscious characters bleed out at a rate of 1 hit point per round. But characters attacked by non-lethal methods (clubs, fists, flat sides of sword blades, clerics' weapons, etc.) don't bleed out.
There is no negative to hit or damage for subdual attacks made with the flat of the blade.

"Aye, I believe this could work," Ingrid answers.
The Entangle spell that grips the 'silenced acolyte' has a longer duration than the Silence spell.
How do you guys want to handle this?

It'll take Bo one round to bind and gag one individual.
I was thinking he gags them all first since the Silence spell dies first.

Yes, gag first and then tie. If the entangle spell wears off before they are all tied, the others can rush in and help with the binding.

If there isn't enough time to gag all of them and the dogs, Bo can also try to befriend the animals instead.

Allies are affected by Entangle, so only Bo can enter the area of effect to gag and bind. :)
Cancelling Entangle before all enemies are bound is possible, but may result in a melee.

This is rapidly turning into a good argument for stoning them all to death after all. ;)
