Kitchi- Will attack the jaguar man not fully having a good handle on his new sword.

+2 S. sword(Wyrm tongue) +3vs reptiles to hit[1d20+3] = 1+3 = 4, to dam sm[1d6+3] = 6+3 = 9 lg[1d8+3] = 1+3 = 4

Claws & Fangs - Round 4

Image

The jaguar-man staggeringly leaps upon Kitchi, who just sliced its leg with Wyrmblade, the enchanted short sword of the deceased Bruno.

The beast slashes, but the ranger parries one claw and his armor repels the other. But fangs scrape Kitchi's shoulder painfully (4 HP.)

Then Calto the druid drives home his scimitar in the creature's back, and it falls to the ground dead. The others adventurers heap further damage upon the corpse for good measure.

Image
- Initiative: Party [1d6] = 4 vs. Monsters [1d6] = 6. Monster wins.
- Kitchi was the only one who explicitly stated he was taking Bruno's sword, in case anyone was wondering.
- Jaguar-man c/c/b [1d20] = 5, [1d20] = 8, [1d20] = 15. Bites Kitchi.
- Jaguar-man bite damage [1d10] = 4. 4 to Kitchi.
- Given it was dead by the time of the fumbles, there were no mishaps.

Azoth Al-Aziz, occultic priest:

The dark cleric glared at Siavel.

Then he looked among the party to see who required the last of his healing powers.

Calto the druid:

Calto wipes the gore from his treant-wood blade, and examines his wounds. He winces at the scratches and bites then looks to Azoth in hopes that the cleric will administer aid.

Siavel returns a confused look at the black priest's glare.

What?
At least nobody died this time.
I don't think we will find out the secrets of this shrine by simply walking through it without investigating anything. I still believe that stone wheel to be of some importance to us.

He stares into his own hand that is now clutching the ceremonial dagger.

There is some power in this weapon, I can sense it. Perhaps it is one of the items we need to complete our mission in here?

I also wonder if the dagger and the jag-mans scar are connected in some way. I suppose I better refrain from using it to cut the beasts chest open along the scar? I would hate to attract more discontent from any of you.

Unless stopped, the mage will use the dagger to triumphantly slice along the scar of the dead, 6 nippled jag-man.

Tabai gathers his weapons again and leaves the mummy's spear where it lies. Keeping only his knife and original spear.

The adventurers pause, catching their breath and assessing wounds. Some cough and feel a slight stomach ache; the effect of the bad air again catching up with them (1 HP damage to each. Wound damage updated in HP at: viewtopic.php?p=180013#p180013)

Siavel holds the ceremonial dagger.

Azoth Al-Aziz, occultic priest:

Assessing no one to be in dire condition, the dark cleric elects to save his powers for later use, else risk stopping to rest again and further boring the impulsive, reckless elf. ;)

"Your secrets will have to wait. We must push through this region of bad air, in all haste," Azoth urged. "This is a shrine. Its most powerful artifacts will be safeguarded in its deepest vaults."

If Siavel's dabbling with daggers and scars didn't awaken further murderous sentinels, then Azoth opened the western-most door, that he had previously scanned for traps with his unholy sorcery, in the search for better air.

Calto the Druid:

Calto understands the priest's wisdom in refraining from using up his healing gifts and proceeds to bind his wounds. He violently coughs to try to clear his lungs of the fetid air and proceeds to follow Azoth to investigate the door to the west.

Siavel continues slicing into the jag-mans chest cavity. He quickly retrieves the things heart, if there is one, and places it on the alter. (just to see if anything happens)

Yes, We must continue on so we may find better air. This dagger holds magical properties that I have yet to discern. I will hold onto it in case it reveals anything more to me as we traverse the rest of this place. If I should suddenly turn into a horrible undead monster that wants to suck out your souls..........kill me!

He also moves west with the others.

Alex 'Blade Rain' Vam; Human Fighter

Alex tries to maintain a tough-guy outer appearance as he notes Siavel cutting open the corpse and pulling the heart out; an action that makes him more than a little queasy. Upon hearing Siavel's last comment, he says in a dead-pan tone; "No problem"; before slowly giving a little grin to let people know he's joking.

He gathers his hurled daggers, cleans them and puts them back in their sheaths and then gets ready to go wherever the smart members of the group decide to head towards next....

Perhaps it is the increasingly claustrophobic depths under the ziggurat, or the bad air, or the stress of constant danger, but the ancient elf Siavel has lost much of his cool composure the adventurers have known him for on the ship's journey and time leading up to the entrance into the ziggurat. He grasps the exotic dagger and cuts open the jaguar-man. As he does so, Siavel notices the flesh is beginning get hard, and turning gray. Opening the chest cavity he reaches in to find the heart is not there! The body is turning back to stone.

Watching Siavel, Tabai the jungle native is reminded of the ancient sacrificial rites when victims' hearts were torn from their bodies.

Azoth priest of Noden advises the party to move quickly to get beyond the foul atmosphere in these subterranean tunnels. The others agree and the cleric opens the west door and finds a hallway extending northwest as far as the torchlight shows. The walls are carved into small skulls.

Azoth Al-Aziz, occultic priest:

Azoth sniffs the air from the new hall with his aquiline nose.

If it smells fresher, he'll cast 'Find Traps' and proceed to examine the hall. "Please allow me to lead, that I may see dangers unseen."

If the air here is also bad he'll say, "I believe we should continue our earlier progress, past the pit trap. What say you all, my friends?"

If he can't tell whether it's good or bad, he'll say, "Wise Calto. Please. What make you of this air?"

Calto the druid:

At the dark priest's suggestion, Calto sniffs the air with short, quick breaths, trying to determine if the impurities are still present.

Siavel seems more preoccupied with his new dagger than with helping the others discern their next move. He remembers the demise of his trusted companion Surge, hoping that the group doesn't have to go back into the chamber of eyes and tentacles again.

He awaits to hear what the others decide, still passing the small weapon from hand to hand as if it were growing hot to the touch.

Siavel stops dead in his tracks.

One moment!

This dagger seems to be mentally directing me to that stuffed tiger. Perhaps there is a clue hidden inside of it?

Unless he is stopped, the elven mage begins walking towards the thing. He intends to use the dagger to cut it open. He is curious to see if the dagger is giving him correct information or just prompting him to continue taking unnecessary chances that only result in more havoc.

I am inclined to believe that this weapon is trying to help us get through this maze of asphyxiation. Get ready in case this thing also springs to life!
