Two things have been weighing on me since
this post (Edit: Link is to post in Moderator forum. The portion of the post I was referring to is copied, here): - The absence of any 5e games running on this site;
- The realization that I'm wasting my master tier subscription on D&D Beyond by not actually using it.
An easy way to remedy both points would be to actually start a new 5e game... but is there interest?
This would be a new campaign run at a casual pace (e.g. one post per week on average) to avoid potentially over-extending myself or compromising my efforts in my current 2e game.

I would be interested Dave. I just started trying my hand at running 5e FTF last weekend at the request of one of my players. Went OK for the first time. Your link doesn't work for me, I am apparently not authorized to read the forum.

Nice. That's one.

I've only run one live 5e game... and I felt like it was a disaster. Apparently the players felt like it was just a "normal" game. There's a LOT the DM needs to know, especially when the characters start going up in levels.

Ha! I guess that's what I get for linking to a post in the Moderator forum. My bad.
Essentially, it was this:

I am narrowing down a list of some house rules that I'm interested in trying, and also deciding what content I want to allow.
I will create the forum for the game once those two things have been formalized (maybe as early as tomorrow, but probably this weekend).

I am not quite to house rules yet but am already thinking of some. I tend to run campaigns with a more dark age feel but need some table time before I start messing with the rules.

That little marketing list has tasked you for so long Dave.

Glad you finally pulled the trigger!

I’d be interested in helping solve problem 1, if you ran a self-contained game on this site (in conjunction with the dice roller, of course).

I'm in for another 5e game, Dave.

I find that the game runs
really well with no house ruling at all. What I have in mind is more informational (e.g. what options are available, what settings to use in the character sheet, etc...) and some simple tweaks.
I'll have more to share on this soon.

Me, too. It's about time.

I'm definitely going to be using D&D Beyond for sharing the rules, and for the character sheet. Trust me, as helpful as it is, the character sheet in the Unseen Servant die roller is ill-equipped to handle building 5e characters.
I don't know if it will matter, but they (D&D Beyond) will "soon" allow players to log in using their Apple ID (not just Google like they require currently (if you didn't already use Twitch)).

Awesome, man. Glad to have you.

You two make five, so I am closing enrollment for now.
A waitlist has been started for anyone else that is interested in joining.

Damn, didn't see this in time. You know I'm always up for a 5e game, so I'll claim the first spot on the waitlist.

I might be willing to accept six players and run them as two separate, three-character parties. A couple of the house rules I'm thinking of using (which I haven't had a chance to work on this weekend (yet) like I was hoping) really boost the characters and are definitely more appropriate for a short-handed group than they are a group with an extra player.
I'll think on it.
If not, you'll be first on-deck.

No one has been added to it, but the forum for this game has been created:
I should be able to start populating some game details to it soon, and will add the players to it at that time. Stay tuned.

It will be.
I had literally zero preparations made for this game when I decided to start it and just needed a name for the forum. There's no actual significance to it, but the name "Aberdeen" just jumped out at me when I was trying to think of something similar to my "
Adventures in Foxmoor" game from way back when. This game and that may end up being fairly similar in many respects (just hopefully not
ending the same way).
Ultimately, though, it will end up being a homebrew setting that is largely created on the fly... with help.
I'm still working on my house rules, and this "
help" I speak of will be detailed within them, but I am planning on borrowing a couple of the suggested house rules that I like from the '
Dungeon Dudes,' including:
My plan is to create a true "Session Zero" topic in the game and letting the players work on their characters and the above details while I continue to get the game prepared. I just want to get the house rules "finalized" and posted before formally adding the players and opening things up.
Soon, though. Probably later today or tomorrow.

I'm thinking I might try this.
In the event of player/character abandonment or turnover, the two groups could be merged into a single group later.
