OOC 5 - Slow and Steady...
OOC 5 - Slow and Steady...
Please start new OOC banter here.
In addition, please post a move in the game thread (assume that you will engage a giant). It is too hard to run a round without specific actions.
V - you have an action already.

Banter banter banter. There now that that is done. Rommel will go forth once the rest of the party does with his purifier out and ready to strike any foes that come their way or ar bold enough to be in front of him.

Can you please post your move (with dice roll) in the game thread?

Are we sure Firesledge isn't cursed?OGRE MAGE wrote:Flambeau throws Firesledge at the most opertune opponent.
Firesledge [1d20+6] = 1+6 = 7 Damage [1d6+4] = 6+4 = 10 + [1d6] = 1 2 Nat 1's in a row? Hmmm

Hollis moves up with Vorsyin - if a giant gets past the elemental he will engage.

Re: OOC 5 - Slow and Steady...
Whoops! Looks I can't tell the difference between ooc ang game thread.....I'll post in the right place now.....

Re: OOC 5 - Slow and Steady...
Lorath posted Dec 8 in G2 Rift 1 that he was returning to update the party. I was waiting for that to take place assuming combat would start after I updated the party. I thought you were timing it so that Lorath came back before they started the combat so Lorath would be there at the start of it.
Re: OOC 5 - Slow and Steady...
I think Vorsyin had already summoned the fire elemental. At that point, we weren't waiting for anyone.

Re: OOC 5 - Slow and Steady...
What's the plan. Assault and retreat to recover? Do we want any charmed giants? I could cast shape shift to giant form fire or frost then cast Mirror image to end invis as a surprise. Cast burning hands as fire giant on target or cast suggestion on a frost giant if I am a frost giant to gain an ally but no one can attack that giant though? We can always do the charm later if we want to just clear this section.
Re: OOC 5 - Slow and Steady...
The plan is to smash everything in this section of the caves, I think, then probably get the heck out, depending on what condition we're in.
I think Lorath could still cast mirror image without breaking invisibility. It's not an attack AFAIK.
Charm monster is an interesting idea, but kind of tricky. Giants are already in the heat of battle, so you'd have to charm and get the giant to fight its own kind instead of us. Not impossible, but I'd suspect Magnus would give the giant some bonuses on the giant's saving throws. Alas, a charmed giant isn't a controlled giant. Then again, Magnus might penalize the giant's saving throw if Lorath is in the the form of one of the giants he saw in one of the other caves.
Maybe Lorath could shift to the form of a giant he saw in another cave, watch for any giants trying to run for reinforcements, and suggest that the boss wants this battle contained, reinforcements are on the way, and the giant should stand watch and prevent any other giants from coming out, by force if necessary? That might even have a chance of working.
Another tactic wight be casting mirror image while invisible then firing magic missiles at a giant. 4d4+4 damage isn't bad. Less interesting, but a lot more direct.

Re: OOC 5 - Slow and Steady...
Does anyone have the spell Prevent Natural Ones?
Re: OOC 5 - Slow and Steady...
That's a 10th-level spell, I think.
Re: OOC 5 - Slow and Steady...
Yes, and I followed up by saying that you did-- in other words, you are with the party.Cwreando wrote:Lorath posted Dec 8 in G2 Rift 1 that he was returning to update the party. Lorath is still with the party.
Charming giants in the heat of battle to attack each other is probably not going to work. Also, I am not sure (without checking) if that is within the scope of a polymorph self. A FG might be too big.Magnus wrote:Date: Autumn, 432 ca., Campaign Day 13

Lorath takes flight!
[Stuff he saw.]
He has time to report all of these findings to his compatriots.
Mirror Image would not break invisibility.
The Suggestion would work, subject to a save, even without taking giant form. You could even do it invisibly.
Let me resolve the rest of round 2 and then everyone can post their turn, including Lorath.

Re: OOC 5 - Slow and Steady...
It was my thought that the polymorph spell allowed any creatures form to be taken as small as a hummingbird and as large as 2000 pounds. Thus a small elemental or up to 2000 pounds based on the spell description. Are you using a more finite limitation for the spell?
