Hullo!

#1 Post by Keehnelf »

Hey everyone.

My handle is Keehnelf here--I've been playing RPGs since about 1982/1983 (I was very little when my parents introduced me to AD&D) and of course D&D and its offshoots were my first big love RPG-wise.

As I got older I spread out in predictable ways but maybe more narrowly than I would have liked in retrospect--Palladium games including Heroes Unlimited and Rifts, Shadowrun, and later Call of Cthulhu.

As I've gotten older I've become more and more interested in things slightly more off the beaten path, being a latecomer to The Burning Wheel, Fate and Dogs in the Vineyard to name a few. Since my first child was born my roleplaying has been largely imaginary, however, and I'm looking for ways to get back off the bench at least a little bit--so I'm looking to get involved in a game or a few on here and see what happens! I'd love to play some Torchbearer, as player or GM, and I'm open to pretty much anything!

Most of my time in roleplaying has been spent as a GM, so I've carefully cultivated my taste for "watching the machine work", as it were. That is, learning to weave the actions of the PCs into the larger fabric of their setting so that the players can see the effects of their decisions on the micro and macro scale over time. I'm very much a sandbox-style GM, and thrive best when I'm with other players who have a similar approach and aren't just looking to be passive observers of someone else's story.

Message me if you've got a game or game idea or desire to play that fits with what you see here!

Welcome Keehnelf!

You'll find this a very good place to jump back in the waters!
Folks are helpful and supportive here with any needs or questions.

Welcome and well met!

This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.
Alethan: I'm good with NOT pressing our luck this time.
mjulius: That's how I know I'm home.
Pulpatoon: The whole point of PbP is to take the scheduling pressure off the game. We're just chatty because we're so eager!
Scott308: ...everyone should be reminded of just how wonderful the people they play games with here can be in real life.
Leitz: Quality and quantity wise, I think US is the best I've seen.
Paladin: I can promise terror, glory, and riches...or a quick and brutal death.
Inferno: Come on! That's was Vicar's Head, a completely different doomed village!
Rex: I can move to the wait list to let someone else into the game.

Welcome KE!
Sounds like you will fit right in here.

OK, I'll play!

I'm generally an "Old-Schooler" (AD&D etc.) but you will find folks with all kinds of interests on here.

Your style sounds intriguing but I've never heard of Torchbearer before now. I'll check it out.

Hail & well met, Keehnelf!

Yeah, other than the uber great role-playing capability and being able to game with folks from all around the world, one of the other great assets of PbP is that it can be made to accommodate almost any schedule. And this place is definitely THE cat's meow for PbP!

Welcome aboard and welcome back, brother! 8-)

Welcome to the Unseen Servant, Mr. Nelf.

(sorry... just messin')

Looks like you're settling in just fine. In case you haven't made your way down to the RPG Discussion threads yet, here are a few links you might want to read through:

Playing a Game on the Unseen Servant
GMing a Game on the Unseen Servant

Also, it looks like you are already trying to recruit for a game you want to run. In that case, you might consider reading the following thread and sending me the appropriate information via PM to have your name and info added to the list:

The GMs of the Unseen Servant

Good luck with your games (running and playing) and, again, welcome! Hope you enjoy your time here.

Cheers,

Al
