Tis' best protect the little brother
Tis' best protect the little brother
30 years ago I was as many of you. I had the books. I had the maps on grid paper. I painted the little figurines by hand. I hung out with the kids who were very bright but not so popular. It was with a mix of pride and shame that we would appear in school year books under the header "D&D Club" -- year after year.
I'm back to appear under that header again.
Your newest member is Gabe. I am his smarter and more attractive brother, Jason.
When Gabe was 5 I infected his impressionable mind with my books, maps and hand-painted figurines. I will accompany my brother and attempt to protect him from the woolynerds and the snaggle-toothed geeks. More likely I'll be protecting him from his own imagination.
On a personal note, I'm a 44 year old banker in the heart of the Rockies who owns a pack of dogs.
Hello all.

Egads, did I miss Photo Day again this year???
*sigh*. Ah, well. Tis for the best.
In any case, welcome to the Unseen Servant forums, Diz! Though you appear to be of a similar disposition as my older brother (and similar age differences, to boot, as he'll be 44 in a few months and I'm 40), I'll try to overlook this and treat you fairly through the repressed traumatic childhood memories.
Cheers,
Al

Welcome, Dizlexus! Your story is familiar to me, but I was never in any official "club".

Re: Tis' best protect the little brother
Yes Dave we are real life brothers. And to your point Al, I am exactly 10 years older than Gabe (and a couple days).
Gabe got me a gig as a thief in a new campaign. I'll specialize in picking his pocket.

This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.

Har, sounds great.
My older brother and I began playing when he was 12 and I was 10. I immediaely took on the DM role, and he (through selfishness, I guess) wanted to do nothing but play.
No problem, I just killed his characters a lot!
Anyway, welcome aboard, and enjoy getting back into things. Hopefully Gabe won't find his way to knocking off your characters!

Yes, your story is quite familiar.
Damn Alethan beat me to the picture day joke!
Welcome indeed, Dizlexus. And may the odds be ever in your favor!
