New subforum in the Scenario Simulator forum
New subforum in the Scenario Simulator forum
Can we have a "Fate" subforum in the "Scenario Simulator (All the Rules!)" forum?
While Fate has a couple of versions, and is multi-genre, we can keep things sorted by labeling our threads for the appropriate version and genre. Hopefully that will keep the admin work down.
Thanks!

Re: New subforum in the Scenario Simulator forum
It's been a while since I've set one of these up, but I think this should be all set.
Obviously, feel free to let us know if there are any issues.

Re: New subforum in the Scenario Simulator forum
Seems to be working so far, and another player was able to reply to one of the threads.
Re: New subforum in the Scenario Simulator forum
The Fate(Core) ScenSim conversation seems to be going well. If I understand correctly, we are better off creating a game forum normally for ScenSim stuff, instead of playing the game in the ScenSim forum?
If that's the case, can I get a game forum?
Name The Absent Professor (Scenario Simulator)
Rules Fate Core
Recruiting Conversaion
We're going to avoid private subforums, I think, as this is also a joint learning experience. In dire need, players can PM me or each other.

Re: New subforum in the Scenario Simulator forum
That's only if you want to.
If you want to move a running game from 'Scenario Simulation' section, a dedicated game forum can be set up for you. But it's certainly not a requirement.
And, if the purpose of the game is still to learn the rules, it might make sense to leave it where it is.
But, totally your call.

Re: New subforum in the Scenario Simulator forum
I think I would prefer a separate game forum in the regular game section. This will allow collation of the OOC and various game specific threads, and then we can archive it all in one go after the effort concludes.
Also, for those who skim the games in progress, it means that the Fate game is in the same place as all of the others.
Is that okay?

Re: New subforum in the Scenario Simulator forum
I ran my HarnMaster game in the sim for several months before we decided to transition it to a regular game. From my point of view you don't want to archive it when we are done you want to leave it in the sim so people can look at it for comparison/educational purposes. We don't have to do it that way just my 2 cents on the sim section.
Re: New subforum in the Scenario Simulator forum
I do want to have the game available for others to review, and finding it in the regular game section seems easier.
Re: New subforum in the Scenario Simulator forum
Yes, please create the forum in the regular gaming section. I realized that my notes above seemed to wander a bit.
Re: New subforum in the Scenario Simulator forum
Apologies for the delay.
I will set up a new, independent forum for this now.

Re: New subforum in the Scenario Simulator forum
A new forum -- The Absent Professor (Fate Core) -- has been set up for your campaign and placed beneath your existing game.
You have been set as the moderator for your forum, and you should also be able to make 'sticky' posts. To add users to your group so that they can post in your forum, follow the instructions outlined here: How to add players to your campaign.
Please consult the 'How to make and find your campaign ID' if you're unfamiliar with the Unseen Servant dice roller.
Feel free to reply if you have any questions or issues and an admin will be able to assist.
Good luck with your campaign, and have fun!
Thanks,
Dave

Re: New subforum in the Scenario Simulator forum
Thank you sir! Players have been added to the group, a Campaign ID has been generated, and I've started the first few posts.
Re: New subforum in the Scenario Simulator forum
Can I get another Subforum in the ScenSim forum? The working title is "VLC Fantasy", and the rules are pretty lousy. I've given the author a talking to, and hopefully he'll get his act together.
FYSA, "VLC" is for "Very Low Crunch". I'm trying to make the rules as easy to play as I can, but they are a bit longer than the one page rules.
Is it possible to create a "group" without a dedicated game forum? I looked at it a little bit, but didn't see a way.

Re: New subforum in the Scenario Simulator forum
It's been a while since I've created anything new in that forum, but this one might be done. Definitely let me know if you experience any problems with it.
Unfortunately, I'm not sure what you mean by this?

Re: New subforum in the Scenario Simulator forum
THANKS! Posted a new thread, so it seems to work.
In the "User Control Panel", the "Usergroups" tab, are lots of groups. My guess is that they get created when a campaign is created, since they echo campaign names. Those groups can also be used when sending PMs, but I didn't see a way to create a group outside of a campaign. Having a PM group would be useful, since there are things I don't want to post in public, but also want to ensure everyone in the group gets it.
Does that clarify?
Re: New subforum in the Scenario Simulator forum
I am pretty sure I have been down this road before and we couldn't get it to work. If you do please let me know how.

Ahh, yes. I understand what you're referring to now.Leitz wrote: ↑Sat Apr 01, 2023 4:00 pm In the "User Control Panel", the "Usergroups" tab, are lots of groups. Unfortunately, those groups are objects created during the new forum setup from options in the 'admin control panel' and I highly doubt they can be created from the 'user control panel' which you would have access to.
What kind of groups do you want to create that aren't already created for you?

Re: New subforum in the Scenario Simulator forum
Unfortunately, for PMs, I fear you will need to just add each user you want to include in the message in the 'To' section -- at least for the initial message.
Afterward, you should be able to use 'Reply All' to capture the same group again.

Re: New subforum in the Scenario Simulator forum
What I have done is anyone who you want in the group add to your friends. Then it is easy to just select them when sending the PM.
