ECHOES FROM HOTH: Episode One: Fire on the Ice

Ducks into cover provided by the speeder and begins firing with his blaster pistol at one of the troopers firing at him.

Vale Starcloud hunkers down in the snow trench and fires at the trooper with the repeating blaster. "We've got to neutralize their firepower!"

Kit races for the cover of the speeder, once behind it she will return fire on the nearest trooper (1 aimed shot).

Jackson checks his blaster and then excels slowly. What he was about to do put him in danger but he couldn't do any less for his friends in the trench-line. Standing up and bracing himself on the canopy of the wrecked snowspeeder, Jackson carefully sites the trooper carrying the repeating blaster and lets a shot go.

Sector 31; East Ridge of Echo Base; Planet Hoth


The earth-shaking stomps of the AT-AT walker getting closer and closer to the Rebel base could now clearly be felt and heard by the Rebel team as it rumbled to within 500 meters of their position, continuing to pound away at the Rebel Cavern base with its twin assault laser cannons.....

The last Imperial Snowtrooper on the left flank briefly registered in Vale Starcloud's peripheral vision as he leaped the trench and rushed out of sight in the direction of the hangar-bay of Echo Base and then the young Jedi turned his attention to the approximately half-a-dozen Snowtroopers in the center of the frozen plain rushing towards the spot he, Clark and Zuul were currently crouching in. He aimed at the Trooper carrying the repeat blaster, but his shot sailed wide to the right....

Zuul, shivering from the cold and doing his best to shake off the pain from his wound took aim at the Snowtrooper carrying the Repeat Blaster, as did Professor Clark standing next to him and in a flash, a pair of blaster bolts raced for the Imperial; one of the bolts hitting him in the leg and dropping him to the ground where he let the Repeat Blaster fall into the snow and ice as he clutched the wound with his now empty hands. Both Rebels noticed that several blaster bolts melted snow and narrowly missed their heads as the half-dozen other Imperial Snowtroopers advanced to about 50 meters away from them....

Behind the crashed Snowspeeder, Cal hissed in pain as he took cover and then from that position, moved to take a shot with his now un-holstered blaster pistol at one of the two Snowtroopers shooting at them, letting out a curse as he saw his shot miss wide...

Next to the wounded pilot, the white-furred Wookie Kitkatarra also rose from cover, took aim and let fly with a blaster bolt that drilled one of the two Snowtroopers pointing carbines her way, dropping the Imperial unmoving into the ice and snow and bringing forth a snarl of victory from the Wookie. A moment later, the other Snowtrooper took a shot that burned a bit of her fur and left a graze along her left side, but doing no permanent damage*....

Jackson took a deep breath, rose up behind the smashed T-47 snowspeeder and in one swift motion he took quick aim at the now kneeling and wounded Snowtrooper that had been carrying the Repeat Blaster and he sent a beautiful shot approximately 100 meters down range that hit the side of the Imperial's helmet and caused the Snowtrooper to fall to the ground like a puppet that had the strings suddenly cut off....

EVERYONE: Okay, there are now 6 Snowtroopers moving quick on the center position where Clark, Zuul and Vale are....about 50 meters away....the one Snowtrooper on the left flank is now making a run for the Rebel Base...he is approximately 100 meters away and behind the central group....

The group behind the crashed Snowspeeder (i.e. Cal, Jackson and Kit) are about 80 meters away from 1 Snowtrooper facing them and about 125 meters away from the group moving in towards the Central group of Rebels....

The AT-AT is about 500 meters away from everybody

Zuul

Zuul exclaims in triumph as the trooper gets cut down. "Nice shot Clark!" He turns his attention to the remaining half dozen troopers in the open. "Give him a moment, he hass a present for them."

Zuul crouches down behind cover and switches to his flechette launcher. If there's time, he'll wait until the group gets under 30m and then fire into a group of them.

Kit

Kit takes careful aim and makes 1 shot for the trooper running for the rebel base.

Clark fires off a couple more shots at the approaching troopers, hoping to give some cover to Zuul for his attack.

Jackson lays down cover fire and runs towards the snow trench.

Vale muses, "Things might not actually be as bad as they look," and takes another shot at the group of stormtroopers, waiting patiently for them to get closer before he reignites his lightsaber.

Sector 31; East Ridge of Echo Base; Planet Hoth


The action on the East Ridge of Echo Base on the frozen world of Hoth continued to fly, fast and furious....

The big Barabel Rebel, Zuul, ducked down in the trench just as a pair of bolts fired from two of the half-dozen or so Snowtroopers rushing towards his position zipped just over the trench where he had been but a moment ago and he pulled his double-barreled Flechette launcher, ready to pop up and send a canister flying towards his enemies....

First, Professor Clark Jones fired twice, putting one blaster bolt into the chest of an Imperial trooper and then missing with his second shot. A couple of bolts came flying back his way, one narrowly missing and instead just melting snow on the lip of the trench a few centimeters away from him, while the second zipped across the outside of his left bicep, burning through his armored clothes and heavy snow jacket to leave a painful wound that caused the Academic-turned-Rebel to hiss in pain and momentarily duck back down in to the trench*....

Vale Starcloud popped up and the young Jedi Student fired a shot that didn't come close to hitting its intended target and a couple of bolts came flying back his way; one missing wide while the other JUST missed his head; frying a stray length of hair, causing a burning smell to waft into the young man's nostrils for a moment, but doing no real damage....

Behind the crashed Snowspeeder, three more Rebels also sprang into action with Cal, the wounded pilot firing a shot at the one Snowtrooper still concentrating on his group, but alas, his shot sailed high of its intended target....

Next to Cal, the albino Wookie, Kitkatarra, ignored the closer Snowtrooper and instead drew a bead on the farthest Imperial she could see, one who had leaped over the trench line and was racing for the open entrance to the hangars of Echo base. She took a deep breath, felt a brief moment of 'connection to everything around her' and then let it go and then fired at a target well over a hundred meters away....and roared in triumph as her shot hit the Snowtrooper right in the middle of the back, dropping him un-moving to the snowy ground. She didn't have much time to gloat though as the closest Snowtrooper then fired a blast that hit her in the side and caused her to drop to one knee in pain**...

Jackson Crodowski, who had been in the rear seat of the Snowspeeder when it crashed; was now huddling behind its wreckage and doing his best to ignore his painful wounds as he gathered himself to rush towards the trench line. With a deep breath, he rose up, fired a couple of wild blasts towards the lone nearby Imperial and he awkwardly rushed towards the trenchs; grimacing as his quick movements brought stinging pain shooting through his body. Half-expecting to get blasted in the back; the Engineer was happily surprised when he managed to jump down into the trench without getting shot along the way...

Zuul, his flechette launcher now at the ready, rose up and took careful aim at the 5 Snowtroopers rushing towads his, Clark and Vale's position and at about 30 meter range, he let fly with one barrel, his canister rapidly exploding open into a swarm of razor-sharp flechettes that tore a pair of Imperials to bloody pieces as they fell raggedly to the ground, staining the white all around them with deep red and bits of shredded armor....



OOC: Okay, there are now just 3 Snowtroopers left in the group near the trench; about 30 meters from Vale, Zuul and Clark.....and one that's closer to the crashed Snowspeeder and Cal and Kit

*Clark is now Wounded and will be at -1D to all actions until treated

Sensing their victory nigh at hand, Vale steps up to the top of the trench and ignites his lightsaber, striking a defiant pose at the oncoming snowtroopers. Perhaps they will think twice about charging in when they witness the true power of a Jedi, he thinks.

OOC: Lightsaber parry (I'm assuming at 30m they won't be able to make it to me this round—but if it's clear that they can make it, I'd rather just go straight to melee combat)

Kit will get behind the nearest cover then use one of her Medpacs on herself.

Clark, hoping that Vale will draw most of the enemy fire, pops up again out of the trench and takes a couple more quick shots.

Zuul

A faint chuckling can be heard over the din of battle as Zuul finds something amusing about the situation. "It'ss almost pretty. The artistry of battle. He thinkss he'll call that one 'Two with one Stone'"

Zuul drops his launcher, picks up the rifle, and fires at one of the troopers. "You show them Vale!" Zuul inches closer to the Jedi, hoping that the lightsaber emits a bit of heat.

Jackson will apply a medpac on himself before heading down the trench to meet up with Clark and the others.

Cal will continue to fire at the remaining trooper and provide cover to Kit.

Sector 31; East Ridge of Echo Base; Planet Hoth


The earth-shaking force of an Imperial All-Terrain, Armored Transport (AT-AT) moving closer and closer to the Rebel base on Hoth was beginning to drown out all sounds of the firefight that continued between the Rebels and remaining Snowtroopes on the East Ridge of Echo Base on the frozen planet of Hoth.....

Vale Starcloud climbed up out of the trench as Professor Clark nearby didn't hesitate to wonder or look at WHY the impulsive young Jedi was doing such a thing, but instead took the moment to fire a pair of shots at the trio of Imperial Snowtroopers that were almost right on top of them....

The academic-turned-Rebel winced as the motions caused his wound to send biting pain to surge through his system, enough to throw off his aim for the first shot, but his second shot hit its intended target, dropping yet another Imperial unmoving into the snow...

The big Barabel Zuul chuckled at Vale's bravery/foolishness and attempted to lean closer to the blue light emitting from the lightsaber in the hopes that it might warm his reptilian blood up a little...alas, it did NOT give off heat....Zuul, like his fellow Rebel in the trench a few meters away, Professor Clark, ignored his wounds and fired at one of the remaining two Imperials, dropping a second with a clatter and leaving only a single Snowtrooper left facing them....

Vale stood tall as he got out of the trench, taking in the sight of the trio of Imperial Snowtroopers rushing towards them and part of his brain registering that two of them were swiftly taken out by his companions even has he ignited his Blue Lightsaber and locked his gaze on the last one who rushed to within 10 metes and fired upon the Jedi as he did so.....

Without conscious thought, Vale whipped his blade across in a motion almost too fast to see and DEFLECTED the blaster bolt to the side as the Force flowed through him....leaving both the Imperial and his nearby Rebel friends to stare in amazement at the young man for a moment....before the devastating mechanical sounds of the AT-AT walker getting to within just a couple hundred meters away from their position and then the echo of its cannons assaulting their ears as the massive blaster bolts from its 'chin' cannons fired into the Hangar Bay of the base they were protecting....

Farther down the trench system, Jackson Crodowski searched his equipment for a Medpac, patting down his various tools, his telescopic Moncular; his Commlink...but realizing with annoyance that he was NOT carrying a Medpac and he had just ran away from the Wookie Medic who had a bandoleer of Medpacs slung over her shoulder....

That same Wookie Medic, Kitkatara, crouched down behind the crashed Snowspeeder for cover, carefully removed one of her half-dozen medpacs, and applied it on her wound, using her considerable skill at healing to do so. While she let out a mild roar of pain as she treated the blaster injury, soon she was feeling MUCH better*....

Also taking cover behind the wrecked speeder, its former pilot, Cal, took a deep breath and did his best to ignore the Blaster bolt that hit the wreckage RIGHT behind his head, fired from the last Snowtrooper facing them and in one motion he turned and rose up and fired a bolt from his Heavy Blaster Pistol that slammed straight into the center of the Imperial's chest plate and knocked him back and down into the snow....where he did NOT rise up again.....with a deep breath, the Pilot realized that there were no more foes in the immediate vicinity....but a quick look showed him that there WAS an Imperial Walker just a couple hundred meters away and down by the trenches, it looked like Vale had climbed up OUT of the trenches and was facing off from a single remaining Snowtrooper with his lightsaber of all things? Turning back to his remaining companion, the white furred Wookie Kit, he saw that she had just finished up treating her wounds with a Medpac....


*Kit is now fully Healed, no penalties to actions anymore and she has 5 remaining Medpacs

**Okay, 1 remaining Snowtrooper, 10 meters away from Vale, Zuul and Clark.....and there is an AT-AT about 250 meters away from everybody and coming closer FAST....

"Zuul, let me patch you up before the AT-AT gets here, I have a feeling we'll need you to take it down!" Clark shouts.

Clark will use a Medpac on Zuul, using a Force Point to help ensure its success. If Zuul refuses, he will use it on himself instead.
