OOC - Welcome and Chat
Re: OOC - Welcome and Chat
Found out some time after I left the job that our Code Enforcement guy, James, literally died at his desk. He was a good guy.

May he rest in peace!Leitz wrote:Found out some time after I left the job that our Code Enforcement guy, James, literally died at his desk. He was a good guy.
Does that count as work-related death?
Re: OOC - Welcome and Chat
That's one of my personal nightmares- dying at work. My job isn't particularly dangerous, but it would really suck to die there, rather than someplace I want to be.

Eh, work is something I have to do. Dying while doing something you have to do beats dying while doing something stupid and pointless, if you ask me!Urson wrote:That's one of my personal nightmares- dying at work. Re: OOC - Welcome and Chat
True enough. But I'd still rather die in my woodshop, building a rocking horse.

Reality check ...
... as much as I want to reply to everything and I have a hundred ideas buzzing around my head, I have to prep for surgery tomorrow and then spend Wednesday thru Sunday eating Hospital Jello. I will try to respond as best I can as I recover (time I will have), but who knows what conditioin I'll be in.
Thanks for your patience ... I'll let you know if abdominal surgery hurts as much as everyone says it does.

I won't asked who cooked supper...
Get well. Enjoy the time to relax and recreate, albeit painfully.

Re: OOC - Welcome and Chat
I had Lime Jello for supper ...
(And the sad part is after a day of nothing but water and Gatorade, I was looking forward to it.)

Get better soon! The advantage of PbP games is that they can wait.atpollard wrote:I had Lime Jello for supper ...![]()

Good luck. Hope things go well. See you soon.
Re: OOC - Welcome and Chat
I survived.
I promised to tell you if intestinal surgery hurt as much as people said it would. About 99% of the time it feels like that dull ache in your muscles from a really bad flu, and then about once per hour a mule kicks you in the gut ... which hurts a lot for 6 seconds ... and then goes back to that dull ache.
On the plus side, you literally feel significant measurable improvement every 24 hours.
Day 1 is all liquid diet and kicked by a mule.
Day 2 is soft foods and head butt from a ram.
Day 3 is regular (Light) foods and tackled by a quarterback.
Now that I am home, I am hopeful for Day 4.

I hope that Day 4 improved that at the very least to medium foods and a body jab by a lightweightatpollard wrote:I survived.

Preferably a lightweight that's nothing like Bruce Lee, too.
Also, you should sleep a lot. I mean as much as possible, and then some

Hey atpollard,
I hope you're feeling better. I'm traveling for work this week and may be unable to post. I'm back on Friday night.
If this game should start up again in my absence, please feel free to NPC my character to keep things moving. Thanks!

So I think the drug induced fog has lifted enough to pick up. I will post one character at a time as they arrive at the dock (or just a random order for the other location).
This will work with my current work a little, nap a little schedule.

The late Sen. John Mccain called this kind of schedule "sleeping like a baby", I remember. Granted, he was alternating sleep and crying, so it's probably not quite the same!
But then he'd just lost his presidential bid.

I'm out of action for a bit due to a family full of swine flu. Feel free to NPC Ignatz!
