The barricade is the area Ciar left to explore. Does Sparrow follow, and perhaps join the halfling?

After several long minutes, and while Sparrow contemplates moving south the explore the barricade himself, the familiar halfling voice of Ciar is heard beckoning Leliana and Grim, both of whom are lingering in the pool area with the snappers, from the previously unexplored western exit.

The halfling details his findings, sharing that the barricaded area has been in place for some time, and there is an occasional scurrying sound coming from the opposite side. The first northern turn off the main passage past this barricaded area continues north a short way before opening into a chamber; its ceiling rising to a lofty 12-feet. The cave floor drops away on either side of the current passage into a pair of long, ten-foot-deep pits. Between these pits, the passage turns into a ridge of stone which forms a dubious, approximately 30-foot walkway to a landing on the opposite side. Nighttail perks up at this news and volunteers that he's heard rumors of this area before, and that the king supposedly resides past this walkway, possibly on another lower level.

After the kobold has shared what she knows, Ciar completes the report of his findings, mentioning that he continued west along the main passageway routes back around and connects with the pool area, through the western exit he just now emerged from.

Fulp asks,

Well, we're down here. Might as well check out that chamber before returning. I dont think we missed an unexplored section. .....
But, surely the kobolds arent all dead... Where are they?

Ciar shakes his head, "Dunno, Grim. It's disconcerting when one group of creatures barricades up a passage against something coming in though. But it didn't seem particularly sturdy such that it was meant to keep out anything with reasoning skills. I'm good with leaving it for now if the rest are.

Regarding Fulp's question, Ciar wonders aloud, "Maybe down with the king? Or escaped down that way. Buggers can tunnel like nothing else!"

These creatures may not be smart but, they are very cunning, Sparrow adds.

I think we should use caution if we plan to go deeper into this lair.

He looks to Nighttail to see if their traitor guide has any advice to offer.

"I've never been this far back," Nighttail admits. "Though, I did hear there was another deeper level, or maybe two."

"No doubt, Chief Roaghaz is as far away from the surface as possible."

"Let's leave the barricade for now and check out the room with the walkway. If we're going to drive these kobolds out, we gotta do it right..."

Unless anybody offers significant disagreement, Ciar takes his Everbright torch back and leads the way to the room with the pits and the walkway. Once there, he examines the walkway and room carefully for traps as he moves along, anticipating such activity in this area.

"Let's leave the barricade for now and check out the room with the walkway. If we're going to drive these kobolds out, we gotta do it right..." Ciar says, recovering the second everlit torch from Fulp before turning to lead the way past the barricaded area.

Arriving at the area with the walkway reveals a chamber with lofty 12-foot tall ceilings; a welcomed change from the normal cramped kobold cavern passages the group has been growing accustomed to. On either end of the walkway, the cave floor drops away into a pair of long, 10-foot deep pits with jagged walls. The walkway itself is a narrow ridge of stone serving as a dubious, 5-foot wide path to a landing about 40-feet away on the opposite side.

After several practiced minutes, Ciar fails to detect any traps.

After checking again for movement on the other side, Ciar turns to the others and whispers, "One at a time, just in case..." and crosses the platform, stopping at 17.

It was a gift. Sparrow responds to Sorshas inquiry with a wink.

He waits to see if Ciar dies first before he takes his turn traversing the walkway. If the halfling makes it across without any difficulty, Bird sprints down the very center of the path to meet up with him on the other end.

Ciar turns to the others and whispers, "One at a time, just in case...", then turns back and begins to cross the platform, which is not quite as narrow for his halfling profile. Once half way across, a loose stone falls from a previously unseen curtain of rocks concealing a ledge on the eastern ledge. Ciar, hearing this, turns and casts his gaze up towards the ceiling off to his right. He occasionally catches a glimpse of a small kobold form, darting from what appears to be well-concealed, narrow gaps in the rocks which appear to be approximately 1-foot wide.

He immediately counts what he believes to be six forms in total.

Ciar quickly retreats back to where he figures the kobolds cannot see him through the spaces in the rocks!

Leliana, who has been oddly silent up until now, finally speaks up "Been itching to pay those small bastards back after nearly ending me the last time."

The halfing, driven by reflexes, quickly retreats back to the rest of the group. Scrambling to his feet, Ciar quickly informs the rest that there are a half dozen kobolds lying in wait, perched atop a well-concealed ledge off to their right.
