Re: 10. Return to Castle Ravenloft
Gragog "I've got a strange feeling that it is likely not through the double doors to get to the dungeon. I don't have a good feeling about what is beyond the bars either but that likely leads to the catacombs or perhaps a holding cell area. I definatley do not wish to enter the same putrid room as that fellow just went."

Re: 10. Return to Castle Ravenloft
Castran will look through the putrid room that Cyrus went to see what he is about. He won't enter, just stick his invisible head in
Greys Campaign.
Re: 10. Return to Castle Ravenloft
Bragar- Lets go to the barred area. He begins to light a torch. He will have the torch in his offhand. Mace in his good hand.

Date: Trieluna 13, 1222
Time: 6:30 PM
Weather: Fog
Location: Castle Ravenloft, Servants' Entrance
**************************************
Castran pops his invisible head up, creating a gnome-shaped space in the fog. He peers into the room Cyrus entered. Steam fills the room. He spots the source of that steam in the middle of the floor: a huge pot bubbling over a blazing fire, its green, muddy contents rolling over and over. Cyrus is searching through a cabinet against the far wall.
Gragog and Bragar, the latter lighting a torch, peer through the portcullis at the east end of the hall. The room beyond appears to be a wine cellar. Arched frames of stone form a low, wet ceiling over the stone cellar. Great casks of wine line the walls, their bands rusting and most of their contents long since spilled onto the ground.
The others remain in the foggy hall.

Re: 10. Return to Castle Ravenloft
The gnome retreats and fills the others in on what he saw before heading to the stairwell going around the wall clockwise.
If he reaches the stairs he will try and discern if they go up or down. If down he will peer into them and see how far they descend.

The stairs are the stairs you used to reach this hallway.

Re: 10. Return to Castle Ravenloft
Gragog shrugs and asks more than states "Well guess we'll go to the double doors or we can check the door to the left of them?"

Re: 10. Return to Castle Ravenloft
Lar says softly, "Aye. Let's be going. I think the double door may prove useful. My guess is there may be living quarters for Cyrus down here so one room may be the sleeping quarters. We should watch our backs in case Cyrus decides to be hostile."

Agax Gryyg, game mage:
The dreaming wizard glances about. "The architect has taken pains to impart importance upon those double doors," he murmurs as he follows the group.

Re: 10. Return to Castle Ravenloft
Gragog if the doors were checked for traps will open the door cautiously and slowly peeking in when it is opened a crack wide enough to see through before continuing to open it further or slamming it shut depending on what he can see within.

Re: 10. Return to Castle Ravenloft
And if no one steps up to check the door for traps? Will Gragog stand in front of the doors and stare at them?

Re: 10. Return to Castle Ravenloft
Gragog sighs and just opens the door as previously stated regardless of the trap check.

Re: 10. Return to Castle Ravenloft
Bragar will cast detect traps before opening the door. Let me cast a spell to check for traps before we proceed.

Castran backs out of the kitchen, leaving Cyrus to his cooking.
"Well," says Gragog, "Guess we'll go to the double doors."
"Aye," agrees Lar. "Let's be going. I think the double door may prove useful."
"The architect has taken pains to impart importance upon those double doors," murmurs Agax in concurrence.
Thus agreed, you pause a moment, no one actually wanting to be the one to open the doors. Finally, Bragar intones the words of a spell that will show hidden traps. No dangers reveal themselves, so Gragog steps forward and opens the doors.
When the doors are opened, a swarm of bats flies out! They flutter around the hall, interfering with your vision and getting in your way. Honeynose and Treescratcher seem startled, but a word from the druid settles them down. After a moment, the bats fly up the stairs and are gone.
The room beyond is 30 feet across and 60 feet from end to end. Large oak tables, scarred and beaten, lay scattered like toys about this room, their wood crushed and splintered. Dark stains cover the floor and the wall. Doors are in middle of the north and south walls.
Bragar's spell shows no traps in this room. -----
