JoAT does NOT affect expert programs, correct? That does mean I either need to upgrade my combat programs or get a refund for them to have any effectiveness.terrymixon wrote: ↑Wed Jun 11, 2025 9:28 pmGo for it.mavikfelna wrote: ↑Wed Jun 11, 2025 9:23 pmOk, in that case I need to make an adjustment to my character sheet. Your connections skill levels could be applied to JoaT. As for later, you can work on it like the other skills. Check out the Training and Improvement house rules.

JoAT does not affect expert programs. Now that you have it at level 3, the bandwidth 1 expert programs (all that are expert/1) don't help you.mavikfelna wrote: ↑Wed Jun 11, 2025 9:32 pmJoAT does NOT affect expert programs, correct? Re: The Venture Fortuna's Lounge
To clarify, the skills that I actually have at level 0 do get the +1 from bandwidth/1, like the various Engineering sub-skills. It's the ones I'm using JoAT for that are now useless. So if I upgrade my Melee (unarmed) to 0 it would be worth keeping the program. Am I thinking right? Since it's only 2weeks of training and 100cr for 0 level it's probably worth keeping the programs I have now.terrymixon wrote: ↑Wed Jun 11, 2025 9:35 pmJoAT does not affect expert programs. You are correct. I wasn’t thinking of my own house rules. If you have skill 0 and expert 1, you get skill 1 from the wafer.mavikfelna wrote: ↑Wed Jun 11, 2025 9:51 pmTo clarify, the skills that I actually have at level 0 do get the +1 from bandwidth/1, like the various Engineering sub-skills. I need a last connection as well.
Term 1: University
Term 2-6: entertainer with a stopover to over throw a local government!
Re: The Venture Fortuna's Lounge
I thought if you have an expert program and skill in the same areas as the program that you get a +1 DM

Re: The Venture Fortuna's Lounge
The house rule is confusing in that it mentions providing a bonus to a skill roll. It would seem to me that in the second example if I had skill three I would still get a +1 DM on my die roll
HOUSE RULE: A user can use an Expert package to make a skill check as if they had the skill at the Expert software’s Bandwidth -1. If they already have the skill at Bandwidth-1 or better, it adds a +1 to the skill roll.
That means that someone with an Expert/3 and a skill under Bandwidth-1 gets Skill/2. If they already have Skill/2, the Expert/3 gives them Skill/3. If they have Skill/3 or better, Expert/3 gives them no bonus.

Re: The Venture Fortuna's Lounge
Some of you have some connections to work out and skills from that to assign, but I believe the bulk of the character generation is complete. You’ve got until Tuesday to settle the last little bits and I’ll post the opening bit then. It will be in a new thread which I will link to here to be sure no one misses it. By then, I’ll have Act 1 in hand and we’ll be off!

Expert/3 wafer example:
Personal skill 1 or less, jacked skill of 2. Personal skill of 2, jacked skill of 3. Personal skill of 3+, no effect.
Expert/2 wafer example:
Personal skill 0 or unskilled, jacked skill of 1. Personal skill of 1, jacked skill of 2. Personal skill of 2+, no effect.
Expert/1 wafer example:
Personal skill unskilled, jacked skill of 0. Personal skill of 0, jacked skill of 1. Personal skill of 1+, no effect.

Sure. You were the onboard entertainment on my ship on your way to the revolution. You then authored a hit play "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Coup Attempt"
