Jerome is apparently planning to take advantage of the caves

Illusionary Ruse!SocraticLawyer wrote: ↑Thu Feb 11, 2021 8:36 pm Perhaps now is the time Urdur could attempt an illusionary ruse? I dunno.
Do a Road Runner-esque blank wall where the cave mouth is.

Actually, there must be some perfect illusion to use here... endless possibilities.

The wall was actually something I was considering. It could work, right?

Re: Between The Spaces We Know (ooc and questions Vlll)
Some kind of illusion is a great idea!
It cant be something obvious though, like a wall over the cave opening. I think they would easily figure that out. Especially if they are tracking us by smell.
Bo could use a Plant Growth spell to create a huge mass of vegetation over the cave opening, which should hold them back for a good long while, since wolves aren't really designed for hacking their way through stuff. That would be his last big spell though, and dependent upon how close the trees and shrubs are growing around the opening.
He could lay down his last entangle in the cave entrance too, which might buy us some time to get to the rooms. (if I recall correctly, those tunnels were extensive)
We would need to secure the rear entrance too, if we intend to use the rooms we found earlier.
Does anyone else think the summoning circle we found might come in handy during the exorcism?

I am thinking that we should try the entangle, and save the illusions for once we are deeper inside. It might be easier to fool them that way.
Any other suggestions are obviously welcome, of course.

I agree with OM that the cave mouth would be too easy to disbelieve. Maybe something indoors like a wall of fire or a bricked up wall or something else, if necessary.

Sorry Scott. We're past three days. Moving it along.
Ogre, you wrote OOC that you were casting Entangle, but not IC. I'll call that "DM's choice" and advance the action.
Fyi, Bo found enough plantlife outside the cave mouth for the spell, but not within.

Are there any skeletons in the area? I know there are the bodies of the cultists we ambushed in the other room, but any dead bodies in the immediate vicinity?
Are we going to make our stand in the torture chamber? If so, Ingrid will want to have Amity in one of the cages to try keeping the wolves away while she performs the exorcism.

DM:
Does anything look different in here since we returned?
I assume that the larger torture items are not too large for us to move to block the way we just came?
The door you mentioned......is that the one leading into the hallway? Or is there another door we haven't explored yet?
Players:
I think this is the place we want to use some illusions.
Do we want to try using one of the elixirs on the girl?

Hi, OM. As you know, the wolfsbane elixir cures lycanthropy. It's likely that Amity is not afflicted because it's a full moon and she is still human in appearance. (Perhaps the pack was going to infect her in the ritual? Or perhaps something else.)
When I mentioned the elixirs it wasn't a DM hint, just a friendly reminder in case any of you becomes infected in the imminent attack.

No. All is as you left it.
Correct.
Yes. There are a total of two doors in the torture chamber. The one you just entered through (from the caverns) and the other one that I mentioned which leads to the kitchen and elsewhere.
There is one door in the lair that has never been opened, but it's not in the torture chamber.
It's in the short hall that connects the kitchen, torture chamber and the room with the pentagram in it. (see map below)

Re: Between The Spaces We Know (ooc and questions Vlll)
Okay, thanks!
I completely missed that unchecked door on the map.
Then I suggest we pile as much of the stuff as we can against the door as quickly as possible. The rack and the iron maiden should do nicely to block them for a while.
If we don't use this first room for the exorcism, we could move in further and do the same thing at the other doors as well.
I also think we should be aware that they might know about the rear entrance, so we should think about blocking them from that direction too.
I am not fond of being trapped in some back room with no outside exits, but we might not have much choice in the matter.

I never noticed that door either. Do we go that way and hope for another way out? If we barricade one door, we should be prepared to have to go that way in a hurry tho:)
Could also use some oil and wood and set a bonfire trap in some way?

I don't like being cornered- like we would be- but Jerome is going to argue for a dead-end, so the group doesn't get attacked from the rear. He would welcome a glorious death in battle against The Unclean.

Any suggestions on an appropriate illusion? If not, Urdur is happy to help barricade the premises.

Maybe make one of the entrances to this section seem heavily locked or barricaded and un-openable? Would seem hard to disbelieve.SocraticLawyer wrote: ↑Tue Feb 16, 2021 11:22 pm Any suggestions on an appropriate illusion? If not, Urdur is happy to help barricade the premises.

I like the idea of an illusory barricade- or maybe a Big Scary Guardian creature...

If we have ten more minutes to prepare, I think I would hold off on casting anything until we see what's behind door number three.SocraticLawyer wrote: ↑Tue Feb 16, 2021 11:22 pm Any suggestions on an appropriate illusion? If not, Urdur is happy to help barricade the premises.

Depending on Ingrids action, if we move into the barracks room to preform the exorcism, it might be a good idea to use the illusions to make it seem like we went in a different direction?
Or, something locked in the cells that might cause them to waste some time trying to get in, maybe?

Another idea.....
If we drag the dead body of one of the cannibal villagers into one of the cells and lock it in there, could Urdur make it look like a dying Amnity?
That might keep them occupied for a while.
