I know it does not go along the lines of my usual old-school orientations, but I am considering one of two new projects, and was wondering if there would be enough interest to get either one off the ground.

1. A game of Pathfinder using the Core Rulebook only. Probably a one-shot for starters, one of the oldies, pretty railroad-y, to keep things moving. Though usually I cannot help myself in throwing some sand in the box :D
Nowadays I will not DM PF1e in all of its bloated splatbook glory, but I still think the game system has a lot going for it in terms of the framework it offers. So I would like to go back to its origins, simpler times so to speak, and see how the game handled when only the Core Rulebook, the Monster Manual and the Game Master Handbook existed.

2. A very similar proposition but for D&D5e. Same deal almost exactly, though my experience with 5e is quite different. I never really played or DMed it much. So I want to test drive it with the same premise. Staying faithful to the original materials, see what's good and what sucks. PHB, DMG, MM. That's it.

If anything gets off the ground, I would want it to be a game with a consistent pace (I would say at least a post every other day?), so please also take that into consideration.

Would there be any interest in any of these ideas? Let me know!

I'd be willing to try a 5E game again. I didn't like it much in face-to-face, but it was also my first tabletop game. My expectations have matured since then, and some of my biggest gripes may be less painful in a PbP situation. It's less of an issue if someone takes 15-20 minutes to figure out their turn in PbP than it is face-to-face after all!

I don't know Pathfinder, but it looks too complicated for my toddler-addled mind to learn at the moment.

I would play in a Core Pathfinder game. In my opinion the best way to limit Pathfinder is to limit the books. Core works, though I would probably add traits and background skills. Even most of the hard cover books work. The unchained classes are good too. It's the splat that gets a little crazy.

Let’s see what people might be interested in, but if it is PF, it will be Core, no traits, no background skills, and no unchained ;)

I might consider a 5e game depending on the scenario and what rules are used. Have you seen the hardcore rules?

I actually like PF over 5e tbh

I have, but since my experience with running 5e is close to nothing, if we went in that direction I would want to run it by the book first, and see how it pans out, before I try any tweaks.

Just for fun, we have currently a tie between 5e and PF.

While I enjoy both, I prefer 5e. I would play in either tbh.

I keep on searching for 3/3.5e PbP sites online, only to be brought back here (good thing!).

Any active games for those mentioned above? I’ve never played and would like to

I'd be interested in the 5e game.

For those wanting a Pathfinder-esque cross with D&D 5e, I share a link to a General Discussion thread which I made as I heard about the Kickstarter for:

Nations & Cannons: D&D for 1776 revolution!

Some interest was expressed for trailing such a musket & cannon based game. Any prospective GM's out here willing to investigate it?

Maze crawling game for 2-4 players + referee. Play testing untried rules!

Cobbled from some old Snail Mail games where players got printouts after each turn and mailed their party orders back and an early MS DOS program spit out results.

Advise: It's SUPER minimalist.

Chessboard employed as movement tracker and abstract dungeon "map", explained further if anyone is interested.

Here are the rules. They are imperfect but I think clear enough for anyone to get.
