Re: Between The Spaces We Know (ooc and questions Vlll)
I can see it now, and it can see me, apparently.

Re: Between The Spaces We Know (ooc and questions Vlll)
As the doomed heroes enter the dark mountain to face their grim fate, this seems an opportune time to pause the game momentarily for the holidays. I'll start it up again on January 3rd.
Thanks for another year of great fun. I really enjoy playing with you guys.
Merry Christmas, happy holidays and happy new year to you and your families.
See you on the other side.

This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.

Thanks everyone.
I'm back.
Happy new year.
2020 promises to be unspeakably dreadful. In the game too!

The end of 2019 was a bit dreadful here in Jersey, so I'm looking forward to 2020
Anyway, likely a stupid question, but I wanted to clarify (along with being intrigued by Uson's questions) all the straight lines on the map are worked stone and the curvy stuff is natural (or at least less-worked) stone?

Correct, in regards to the black silhouetted forms. The three fortified towers at the water's edge are curvy and man-made. Or perhaps inhuman-made.rredmond wrote:...all the straight lines on the map are worked stone and the curvy stuff is natural (or at least less-worked) stone?
The shrine's impregnable walls run along the southern and eastern parts of the map.
The three fortified towers at the water's edge are 15' high. The evil shrine's walls loom 50' above the wharf.Urson wrote:Jerome
Are the tops of the towers visible from our location? If so, are there signs of movement?
Neither rampart shows any sign of life.
Everyone, such if/then statements are awesome at keeping things moving forward, while still allowing traps to be searched for, etc. Thanks Socratic.SocraticLawyer wrote:Urdur waits, unheard and unseen, for the rest of the group to finish searching the area. If nothing is found or tries to kill them, he enters the evil shrine with his companions.

Peering under it, he can see the stonegate is three feet thick.rredmond wrote:Can Rudolf tell how thick the gate is...
He can't see any mechanisms or chains but it's clear the stonegate is raised and lowered vertically on three feet deep side-grooves, like a portcullis.rredmond wrote:...and how it works? Portcullis-y type of chains pulling it up (pardon my technical language -)?
He can't tell.rredmond wrote:Also does it looks like it's stuck at 2' above the ground and/or has been that way for long?

Cool!
I knew those last two questions were pushing the limits of what he could “see”.
Thanks.

Does the weird green glow mess up the demi's infravision?
Re: Between The Spaces We Know (ooc and questions Vlll)
Just a suggestion, but can we figure out what's going on before passing the gates.
I'm all for a Bold Frontal Assault and all, but for all we know Mouser was the only one who made his Save.
On an unrelated note, this is a cool GIF no?

"Avengers vs. Tomb of Horrors" artist is Matt Law.

My money is on the Lich.

If anyone is curious about the 'Simon of Goznic' reference:
I was part of a group playing through the original "Ravenloft". We were holed up in a house, arguing with Vlad through the open doorway. He said "Come out, and let us talk like civilized men."
One of the players, IC, said "No, you come in here!"
Cue a generalized pelting of the player with dice, pencils, and Doritos bags, as he'd just Invited a vampire into the house!
