Re: Chapter 3: Yesterday is Tomorrow
Jeojand peers into the darkness of the jungle, looking feline and pensive. "Such a barbaric place. I wonder how many of us will suffer similar fates before we leave this island," he mews.
"We should get rest and replenish. There is nothing more we can do for the dead."

The Valley That Time Forgot, Forbidden Island of Xygax the Wizard, Land of One Thousand Towers
Day Two. Dawn. March 26th, 912 CY
Warm, humid, partly cloudy

After a grim darkness that seems to stretch on for months, the shipwrecked explorers of the mysterious island awaken with the dawn to find no other members of their party devoured in the night.
They stand at the threshold of the primeval jungle. The trail toward the dead wizard's tower crawls west, across the valley that time forgot.

Actions?! (And please roll for overnight Healing. Spellcasters, please reload your memorized spells. Thanks!)

Re: Chapter 3: Yesterday is Tomorrow
Chaka scratches himself feverishly, then climbs a tree as soon as he wakes, trying to get a birds-eye view of the westward path they intend to take this morning.
Overnight Healing (Con: 15) [1d100] = 43 2 hp recovered for little Chaka.

Ko-nan rises with a grunt and starts poking around for food. Once eaten he looks out ont the valley looking for any trouble on the path ahead.

Re: Chapter 3: Yesterday is Tomorrow
Fiefo wakes and sits up looking about as bedraggled as he did when he went to bed. Having slept on a root half the night he feels less than 100%, but then again, he always does.
Chance to heal an extra point on rest (40%): [1d10] = 8
He looks long and hard at his fork, Enard’, before deciding not to just leave it where it lies. He picks it up with visible disgust. ”Well, we’re not dead yet, I guess. Might as well keep going until we get stepped on by one of those...” he waves vaguely in the direction of the beasts in the valley, ...or gutted by the tiger that got Buck. Or maybe just maimed.”

Day Two. Dawn. March 26th, 912 CY

Young Chaka the ape boy scratches himself feverishly and then scampers up a tall tree and looks west, squinting at the path that waits before them. At the base of the tree, Ko-Nan the barbarian also scans the western horizon.
The awakening valley is little changed since the explorers last surveyed it at sunset.

The trail brings them through the heart of a marshy river valley teeming with mythical, titanic saurians older even than the ancient epochs of Earth That Was.
Then the trail claws its way up a vast plateau atop which a dizzying metallic spire scrapes the sky itself; the dead wizard's tower whose promise of adventure and riches brought them here like a siren of old. Lightning strikes it again.
They spy no predators among the fable-like fauna. And then suddenly, they do.
Far to the south, in the shadow of the mighty volcanic mountain chain, a herd of giant reptiles is scattered from a tributary river. Then the fearsome cause stalks into view.

The two gargantuan terrors do not detect the adventurers at this great distance. Nor does their current trajectory intersect with the western trail. For now.

Tullia
Seeing the gigantic beasts, Tillis signals to the group to move quietly.
Holy cow, those things are immense. We would only be appetizers for these beasts. If we can only get passed them.

Fiefo shakes his head incredulously. He’s fairly certain he’s just seen his death. ”Well, we’re not going to get eaten or stepped on just standing here. Let’s go.”

Re: Chapter 3: Yesterday is Tomorrow
Ko-nan freezes and sinks slowly to the ground and remains silent and motionless. Do these beasts detect by sight or scent? He watches carefully prepared to move if need be. He looks around for the closet set of rocks or trees they could run for their lives seek shelter in.

Maskelyn
Maskelyn stops dead, torn between terror at the obvious danger of these things and the pure joy of watching more gigantic lizard-things moving around and living their lives.
He turns to Fiefo and asks Why so serious? , an ancient phrase that is always accompanied by a wide, toothy smile.

Re: Chapter 3: Yesterday is Tomorrow
Chaka jumps the last 9 feet from the tree and lands hunched in the middle of the group.
"Chaka see BIG lizards far off! With BIG teeth! Teeth bigger than Chaka!" The ape-boy points them out, coincidentally, where everyone is already looking.
"Chaka say be careful! Not anger big lizard!"
He packs his gear quickly and gets ready to head out with the others.

The Valley That Time Forgot, Forbidden Island of Xygax the Wizard, Land of One Thousand Towers
Day Two. Dawn. March 26th, 912 CY
Warm, humid, partly cloudy

Vigilant and watchful, the shipwrecked explorers quietly follow the thin trail west across the mysterious island. Their descent into the marshy river valley surrenders the vantage point of higher ground and the frightening reptilian predators to the distant south are no longer visible. Arto Hobbs the halfling sailor stops trembling an hour later.
The adventurers spend the morning crossing the strange valley that time forgot, cautiously treading in the shadows of towering trees, cliffs, and impossible leviathans out of Old Earth's distant past.
As the sun slowly climbs toward its apex, the astonishing wonders of this lost world continue to unfold. The rich fragrance of bright ancient flowers. The buzz of scintillating dragonflies as long as a human arm. Hulking titanic behemoths lumbering high above, blotting out the sky.
Suddenly a gigantic prehistoric alligator (G) rises up out of a small body of water near a swollen river, 15 feet from Ko-Nan the barbarian!

Rows of jagged, dagger-like teeth protrude from its vast, leering maw as cold-blooded eyes regard the explorers with naked hunger. Its deep guttural hiss shatters the tense silence, followed quickly by Ko-Nan's warning cry!
Actions, everyone!

One square = 5 feet.

Ko-Nan faces the beast and raises his cleaver to crush the alligators skull - but slips in the muddy bank!

Re: Chapter 3: Yesterday is Tomorrow
Seeing more huge teeth, Chaka panics for a moment and squats down close to the water.
He moves north, then west, sneaking around the beast as best he can while its attention is focused on the much larger barbarian.
Getting into position for a backstab next round, if that is possible. I believe the MS and HIS rolls are made by the DM. If not, just let me know.

Tullia
She instinctively readies her bow and reaches back for an arrow. She is not sure how much good an arrow would do to such a creature, but staying out of its range seems important.

Re: Chapter 3: Yesterday is Tomorrow
Ignoring the terror that threatens to immobilize him, Fiefo gives way to instinct and rushes up next to Ko-Nan to engage the monster’s attention so that the others may attack it from the sides or from a distance as they see fit. He wonders what the hell he thinks he’s going to accomplish with a scimitar against such a gargantuan threat even as he strikes out at the thing’s snout:
