The native girls stay huddled in the bunkhouse, though the one in the trees is still their, standing with wicker basket in hand above Zoggrot and Siggard. She looks too apprehensive to climb down so near. The impatient voices of the other party members can be heard nearby and movement is heard as they shuffle a few paces forward towards the clearing.

"We heard a beast coming and scattered into the branches but she could not run as fast as us. I think the wound is severe for she bleeds. We made a poultice of lotus flowers, garlic and these purple berries of the native Atropa plant. It seems to calm her shivers and shakes." says the speaking girl next to the old crone. Iggway is signalled to approach while the others may walk around the edge of the encampment. (private forum Iggway)

Siggard turns to the others behind him and gives the two chatty Kathys a stern look as he presses his finger to his lips, giving the universal sing for shut the hell up. ;) He wonders how the officers put up with such insubordination.

He looks at the captain and waves the group towards him, pointing out that they should proceed around the outer edge of the clearing and not get too close for fear of riling the girls even more.

Zoggrot answers Siggard's look with one of amusement. He tries to look as non-threatening as possible and waits.

"Chatty Cathy?" He hasn't said anything. :P

wandering snake [1d6] = 5

Skirting the 'menstrual camp', the party continue uphill for a short distance until they hit a discernible trail. Curled lazily around the sunlit length of a large low sycamore which leans precariously like a wind blown stalk of wheat, is a speckled yellow and brown serpent. It camouflages itself neatly among the dappled leaves and so is only noticed when you approach ever so closely, its' forked tongue tasting the air as it laboriously uncoils a few loops. It must be all the length of 10'ft and thick in places to the size of an orc thigh. anyone care to confess to getting close to measuring the inside leg of an orc thigh? It does nothing more menacing as you approach save for opening a mouth large enough to swallow a halflings' head whole.

anyone want to try to 'identify' the creature for some extra xp? actions please if anyone wants to brave an attack upon it?

Pocc tries to discern what type of creature this serpent is. "It looks vaguely familiar to me...let me think for a moment."

Holden stops from moving, barely breathing, trying to remember what to do when facing a snake that can swallow your head in one go. Moving only his eyes, he looks to the more informed of the group about what to do in these situations.

Zoggrot eyes the python warily. Yup, that's about the width of his thigh, all right.

Siggard steers clear of the snake, wanting nothing to do with it. He keeps an eye on the captain to see how he handles the situation.

Pocc studies the uncoiling snake intently as the others pass him and Iggway catches up with them."It is a giant variety of tree dwelling Arboreal Colubrid, much larger and heavily patterned than their more common brown snake cousins. It is a venomous snake though the teeth shape backwards so difficult to deliver such an injection into most humanoid kind, save for thinner boned folk. Perhaps the wider sections of its' body are the remains of tree lizards or monkeys. A notable skill of this snake is that it will take over birds nests and lay its eggs amongst other eggs. then incubate the lot and watch its hatchlings devour the chicks as a first meal."intimates Pocc to those who listen.(50xp bonus)

Dodging the venomous creature anyway so not to take any liberties, the party follow the trail. Just as well to keep moving as smaller and more mobile relatives seem to be writing in the canopy above. The trail leads upwards and for the first time you feel the fresh breeze and salty wind blown air. The forest is thinning and in parts some sides of the hill has been neatly terraced to manage basic crops. At the flattened top of the hill is the mission which stands brightly dazzling white against the blue Carib skies. A hive of activity is taking place around the mission and you hear accents of Gauloise mixed in with local patois, as people seem to be restoring a wall and a hacked but still standing ornate carved door.

Seeing you approach, a rotund, amiable looking friar in a native decorated habit waves enthusiastically, giving a rest from harassing folk with a prod of his sturdy staff and a stream of clerical platitudes.

Siggard waits to see if the captain wants to address the friar first.

If he can get one of the working island natives attention, he strikes up a conversation in his native patois as the others make their introductions.

"Waagwan, sa? Ou yuh ah doing? Tings good ear, I bredren?"
"What is going on here, sir? How are you doing? Is everything okay, my brother?"

Blood walks behind the rest of the group, continuing his dutiful sweeps.

He is relieved to see a clearing, and some sort of civilization and the hope for tea or rum.

Rexlin

Perks up at Poccs lecture. "They eat monkeys?" uncocks his gun and starts walking...

He finally shoulders Grace when they reach the clearing and looks around, noting possible fortifications and opportunities for ambush, assault, and defense.

Zoggrot stays toward the middle of the pack, avoiding notice. He looks around, trying to discern whether the people seem healthy.

Pocc to Rexlin "Yes, and i know where you are going with this but I don't think Siggard would like it. So keep it under your hat."

Then quietly the druid continues onward with the others of the group and allows Siggard to speak to the natives without interrupting.

Old Eli, sea priest:

The wizzened scarecrow of a cleric approaches the crowd. "Ahoy. We be sailors what have braved the quarantine to bring ye aid," he says in Common.
"Be everyone all right? What happened here?" he asks, squinting at the damaged door and wall. "Be these ax marks?"
