A light or darkness spell will suppress any number of opposite spells in its area of effect. Thus only natural light will illuminate a place where light and darkness spell overlap.

A couple of clarifications. First, Cyrus is already gagged. Second, it isn't dark. Within about 20' of Lar, the only light is the light from his lantern, which is not as bright as the light from a continual light spell.
Apologies folks my internet has been turned off so i am not able to post as often having to hook up with free guest wifi where i can.

A note on mapping: I'll continue to provide maps when it's reasonable to assume that someone in the party is mapping. I'll also move time forward at a rate that reflects that the party is mapping (i.e., usually one turn per move). I will not provide maps when the party in a situation that does not allow it the time to map, and I won't update the map to cover those areas.
In short: the map gets updated and posted when the party has the time to map.
Sorry was just thinking of a map of the misty hallway with indications on of where light and dark and people where. No problems, spiral staircase is easy to picture
Was that Agrippo's helmet by any chance? Should have moved a few extra boxes and found the Sunsword too!
Agax never saw Agrippo in person, and no one else got a good look at the helmet, but it certainly sounds like the sort of thing Agrippo used to wear, doesn't it?
Cyrus's room is full of junk. It's unlikely that Strahd would have allowed Cyrus to keep the Sunsword, don't you think?
The current lighting situation is that Cyrus's room is lit by Lar's lantern (and only his lantern), the central hallway is lit by Agax's continual-light gem on his staff, and the south hallway is lit by the continual-light coin on the floor. Plus Scarlett's lantern, once she lights it.
The south hall way that the wights came from. Does it end in spiral staircase that goes up and down? I know we have said we are ' going down to the crypts' but if will help my map making and checking behind me skills. Since Scarlett was chomped on by stair dwelling zombies before.
