Does this look like a kidnapping or a rescue attempt?

I think it's a rescue attempt as well...Chewy will explain to the 2 Arococras we were aiding him..we need to deal with the elemental. Could it be controlled by the bird men?

My guess is it's a rescue attempt. Chewy will likely explain everything once he's safe. Until then, the Elemental may well do some serious damage, so...

Tho unseen, Mirachele can be heard fishing for something in her satchel, followed by the sound of pwap pwap pwap pwap. 26 distinct pwaps later, her keen mind knowing which page of her spellbook she needs, she wills herself visible.

Spell deleted from spellbook.

OOC: sorry about the confusion on actions. Change of tactics.

Morgi steps out of the protective bubble and approaches the elemental.

"Hold, who commands you. Hold and speak with me." he commands.

Xano will pick herself up off the ground. And attack again if possible. This time she will blink behind the elemental and backstab the elemental.

Blink doesn't work like that. You can't choose where you go I believe. More protective than offensive unless you get a lucky blink.

Thenpaladin, no wanting to risk bringing down the protection aura by forcing it against the creature in an offensive action, will continue to call to those battling the elemebtal to get within 10 feet of him, though he will move steadily forward.

Yep, sorry about that one. I'm not sure why I had that short weapon thing floating around in my head. Thanks for the clarifications Scott.

Xano's blink ring works a little differently than normal ones, but it only works once a day.

Blodget, halfling thief:

Blodget harkened to the commands of the mighty Paladin Lord and scampered from the shelter of Mira's invisibility spell to the sanctuary of Halo's aura of protection. He trembled behind Halo, in fear of the giant wind creature.

Then he noticed the birdmen assailing Chewy! "Sky monsters!" he gasped. "Chewy's in trouble!"
The foolish young hobbit loaded a stone bullet into his sling and hurled it at the nearest birdman invader!

Blodget Sling: To Hit: [1d20+9] = 20+9 = 29, Damage: S/M: [1d4+3] = 1+3 = 4, Damage: L: [1d6+3] = 3+3 = 6

"Hey you! Leave our friend Chewy alone!" he yelled loudly, quite forgetting himself.

The monk will move closer to the paladin, in order to be in his circle of protection. He sees the young halfling fire his sling at one of the birdmen. Blodget! Stop! They are trying to rescue Chewy. They don't know we are friends and mean no harm.

The monk looks at the young hobbit. I believe I told you when we met, he says, patiently explaining to Blodget. I have no name. At the monastery, I was called by my title of rank in the order, Superior Master. You may call me that if it pleases you. Some of the others call me Monky or Rabbit. You may call me what you wish, little one.

Blodget, halfling thief:

"No name?!? When you were born your mother didn't give you a name?!" Blodget asked in stunned astonishment, momentarily forgetting the sky monsters and the hurricane creature he had to fairly shout over to be heard.

It looks like we are waiting for 2 more actions.
Unless those players are just waiting to see what happens first maybe?

Holding your action is perfectly fine with me, as long as you post that you are so I know I can continue.

Thanks.

Thomas may be a bit confused... did the bird people take off with chewy or are they still in the process of taking off?

Is the elemental still a threat?

And, sorry for the absence guys, life's been hell.

The monk smiles at Blodget. I was orphaned as a very young child. The monks took me in, but did not bother to give me a name. They typically referred to me as "child" or "boy." If I had a name, I was never old enough to learn it. As I got older, I joined the order and from then they always referred to me by my title.

Even sky monster mothers, I reckon. You do have a name, sir! You just don't know it." Blodget paused. "It must be terrible strange passing through this earthly life not knowing your own true name, if you beg my pardon for saying so. But I'm sure the pain is lessened greatly by getting to be called Superior Master Monkey."

No problem man! Unfortunately, we all know that sometimes........life sucks.

The bird men have grabbed a hold of Chewy and are about to fly off with him.

The elemental is still VERY much a threat. It seems to have acknowledged Morgi though and, depending on initiatives, may even be willing to communicate.

Alright, so Thomas will let the druid do his thing for now.

Thomas faces the two bird men attempting to fly off with Chewy, feeling this is going to cause more problems then not he calls out loudly to one of the bird men, "Drop him and surrender, now!"

The Gorge of Despair
Round 3

The wind seems to be getting stronger as it whips past you through the gully. It howls in your ears like the wail of a Banshee as the battle rages on in front of you.

You see 4 more of these bird men come into view from a distance as they dive towards you from out of the sky with tremendous agility. The other two bird men begin to fly away with your bald avian guide, they climb at incredible speeds and are truly a wondrous sight to behold while in flight.

Halo calls for the others to join in his circle of protection and slowly walks towards the airy enemy. Trotter follows along as he switches weapons, wishing he himself could fly.

Monky and his new little buddy also follow suit, trying to stay within the Paladins protection while they carry on an extensive conversation with one another. Blodget decides that the bird men are trying to hurt Chewy and wants to do his part to try to stop them before they get away with him. He flings a stone at them with his sling as they depart and swacks one hard right in the ear hole with a perfect shot. The others can't believe what he's done and Monky even scolds him for it as the bird man releases his grip on Chewy and begins to plummet in wide, swirling circles to the ground.

At the same time, Thomas yells Drop him and surrender now! at the departing marvels, calling on the powers of Joramy, but it has no affect at all on the creatures. However, when Blodgets stone knocks one of them out, Thomas gets his wish after all, as it appears that the remaining Aarakocra isn't strong enough to carry Chewy alone and they both also begin to plummet from the sky screaming in some squawky language.
MW: Command can only be one word and it must be in a language that the recipient can understand.
The 4 incoming bird men arrive with blinding speed and can see their kinfolk falling from the sky as they all race towards them. As they close in, they see Blodget as the obvious biggest threat, and they unleash a barrage of javelins at him, three of them penetrate into him as he cries out like a child in obvious fear and pain.14 dam

Wyntar stands there with his mouth agape, hoping that his druidic friend knows what he is doing.

Xano is determined to continue the fight with the powerful air elemental. She picks herself up again and magically blinks behind the thing, trying to discern some kind of back that she can stab with her long sword. Her attempt is futile in injuring the thing this time but she does manage to get its attention once again as it quickly spins its huge, fist-like mass around and slams into her a second time, sending her back down to the ground. 13 dam

Morgi leaves the circle of Mira's invisibility and steps towards the elemental with his ring fist extended. He questions the cloud-like mass then orders it to stop and speak with him. The thing quickly scans the immediate area and responds in a stormy voice, First let me save these bird folk from plummeting to certain death oh ring master, then we can converse. It instantly takes off towards the falling aarakocra with blinding speed.

This whole time Mira can be heard flipping through her spell book at a rapid pace. Suddenly she becomes visible again and casts her spell of illusions just as the elemental heads towards the aarakocra. If the spell was successful or not remains a mystery to the rest of the party as they see nothing else transpire. However, the elemental doesn't get very far away from the party before it stops and stands frozen while the aarakocra get even closer to hitting the ground.

The 4 reinforcement aarakocra do not circle around for another attack but instead seem to be feverishly trying to reach their falling comrades before they hit the ground.

Actions!

Hit points:
Trotter 43/43
Halo 49/49
Xano 17/39
Thomas 46/46
Morgi 34/49
Wyntar 30/40
Monky 24/24
Mira 32/32
Blodget 42/56
Has anyone else noticed a smidgen of counter productivity in these rounds due to the lack of necessary communication?
