In search of a body
Re: In search of a body
Arngeir
"Eyes open for marker..."
He goes on to describe the marker from his vision, the runes on it and the surrounding area as best he can.
Can he make a guess as to which side of the road he thinks it is?

Algrim relays the information about the wolves tracks that he found.

Arngeir thinks it will be to your left based on his vision.

Listen's carefully to the description of the stone they seek, and aids in the search for this item.

Turnip addresses Murgar.
"So, are you a warrior, like Arngeir, only blessed with these visions of yours? I can tell you I feel a lot safer with Arngeir and Algrim close. They did short work of those garguns, even though we were severely outnumbered."
Turnip will stay observant of the surroundings while the others find their way towards the marker stone.

Murgar
Chuckling softly he spreads his arms wide: "all of Sarajins's children are warriors. At least we Ivinians. But I'm not a warrior like them. I can help out, but my blow is not swift and deadly. I've had my fights, but only when necessary. No my Mother was a seer as was her's. Going back many generations, and so am I. I fight, but not for joy, but because I like to live." But he does remove the skull from the top of his staff so she can it is a spear, and pats at the shield on his back. "If we must fight I will join in. Gargun understand cold steel, not a murgar's bones. With that he gives the bag of casting bones hanging from his belt enough of a shake to generate the tinkling sound of bone on bone.

Re: In search of a body
The morning of the 1st of Nolus, the first day of Summer.
Everyone moves forward, planning on a normal pace today to try and cover most of the 10 leagues (25 miles) to reach the marker. Tomorrow you will slow down and focus on the search. You don't notice anything unusual but it is a little slower going, trying to follow the old Southern Way, now long overgrown and its stone foundations raided for the valuable cut stone over the last millennia. You don't spot or encounter any threats but you are slowly gaining in altitude as you leave the valley behind and work into the foothills on the long way into the snow topped mountains far in the distance.
You take a short rest at midday and finally stop an hour or so before dusk. You estimate you should be near the area of the marker and will begin searching more intensely in the morning.
Algrim's keen eyes spot a bird in the distance, circling something. It is a huge bird, perhaps the mighty Northern Eagle*.
* The Northern Eagle is a giant eagle with a wingspan of approximately 20 feet and some say they are intelligent as well.
You settle in for the night to rest and wait for dawn to renew your search.

Re: In search of a body
The morning of the 2nd of Nolus.
Everyone rises at dawn, rested and hoping to locate the marker today. Gear is checked and plans discussed.
Any actions/ideas/use of magic/psionics/invocations for searching before you start?
Once you start searching please supply 4 1d100 rolls each.

Murgar
A casting of the murgar bones are in order, so Murgar will awaken early and cast looking for guidance in our search.

Watching Murgar casts his bones makes the Ivinian consider calling upon the help of Ylina, but he decides to hold off calling upon the Elkyri and see what their day of searching uncovers first.

Turnip
"The marker should've been near what used to be a road I guess. Could be overgrown by now, probably is, but then again maybe not. Maybe find a higher spot and we'll be able to see something out of the ordinary from there?"
So that'll be her strategy: looking for something that used to be a road, and trying to find a higher vantage point.
Searching: [1d100]=36, [1d100]=8, [1d100]=25, [1d100]=6
Some good rolls by Turnip and Arngeir if these are Awareness rolls or similar.

Re: In search of a body
Murgar looks the bones over carefully. He sees mixed results, success in something old. Perhaps finding the body. Success in something very important, unsure of what exactly. And most disturbing, the reading implies great risk and danger ahead.Ahlmzhad wrote: ↑Sun Jan 08, 2023 6:30 pm Murgar

Re: In search of a body
After searching for about 3 hours Arngeir spots a likely candidate and upon inspection it is the milestone/marker. Of course it has worn down considerably and lost its sharp edges over the last near millennia.
Nice rolling everyone. Algrim, Murgar, and Turnip each get 1 skill improvement roll for Awareness and Arngeir gets 2.
Actions?

Looking down at the marker "Well Sarajin is with us and we will be successful in our search, but beware as great danger is lurking out there for us. Now Friend Arngeir is this body supposed to lie?"

Arngier thinks for a moment
"Is 3 feet north of marker, then dig.". He looks around the landscape and at the sun. "Which way north?"
