Re: OOC II
...I'm probably missing something. Where is the 2500gp from?

The original adventurers -- Feargus, Gardo, and Newton -- have just defeated a large band of orcs they suspect to be working for a green dragon, lairing somewhere to the west of Draea (see area outlined in red on the below map). Upon returning to Draea (Hex 236.124), Sumer and Zellar decided they had other goals for life that did not include being eaten by a dragon, and left their companions. Before leaving, the remaining companions have a chance to recruit Zellar's retainers, should they so choose (see the topic labeled "Zellar's Henchmen").
In the meanwhile, Goshawk and the others cleared a small barrow that had caught their eye earlier and defeated the undead guardians within, before returning to Draea and the ironskins.
*The 3 main PCs earn 5,000 XP and 2,500 gp each.
*The retainers earn 2,500 XP and 1,250 gp each.

Yep. Totally missed that. Goshawk levels up then! Can I get an HP roll, TK? He is now Level 4

See this new thread for folks interested in role-playing out the meetings between old and new PCs: viewtopic.php?f=783&t=11206Leitz wrote: ↑Fri Jun 18, 2021 12:48 pmFirst impressions are always important.thirdkingdom wrote: ↑Fri Jun 18, 2021 11:07 amI'm fine with assuming that the new players are introduced off-screen during the downtime, and that everyone starts play where they so choose. I'd like to shoot for posting the first IC post on this upcoming Monday, the 21st, to give Rex time to finish their character.I'm happy to interact with any of the PCs, and we can probably find a meta-game connection. Ardath will be asking around about the further reaches, the challenges, and the needs of the people. He's not really hiding, and obviously not from around wherever he is.

Re: OOC II
Did the group come to an agreement about the hydra hide?
I'll have Newton pay 750gp into the group funds, as this is what he was offered for it.
Everyone happy with that?

Re: OOC II
So, I've forgotten, how many hexes can we move per day when on horse back?

Re: OOC II
Depends on terrain -- and the slowest party member. Miles per day is equal to base movement (60', 90', 120', etc.) divided by 5. A character with a base movement of 120' can travel 24 miles -- or four hexes -- per day.
Re: OOC II
I thought I read somewhere that I could switch 2 scores, is that correct? I want to switch Con and Wis on one set if allowed.
Re: OOC II
OK, so a horse with move 240' can travel 48 miles/8 hexes. Cool. Just trying to remind myself of journey times from Alice to Dreae and Kimrid, each being around 11 hexes.thirdkingdom wrote: ↑Sat Jun 19, 2021 4:38 pmDepends on terrain -- and the slowest party member. I found I can switch 2. What do the fighting styles do? I can't find them. I can pick a melee one.

Re: OOC II
Fighting styles are on p. 164 of ItW (I'm not sure what page of the Advance preview document that is), in the section on the revised Fighter class (which comes before dervish).

Re: OOC II
Correct.
Re: OOC II
Thanks
Re: OOC II
Newton is pretty sure Ardath doesn't have a horse yet. Not sure if that would impact his conversation.
Re: OOC II
With Bargain and Animal Handling, is it reasonable that Ardath could find a decent mount? Assuming one can be had, of course.
Re: OOC II
How how we doing weapon damage, it looks like everyone has a primary and secondary weapon?

Re: OOC II
Sure, but there are a couple of aspects to this:
1. What do you mean by a decent mount? If you mean one with average or higher hp, then yeah, I can certainly assume that. If you mean an exceptional horse then yeah, but they will be more expensive than the listed price, which also leads to #2, below.
2. My practice is to assume that you can start play with whatever you can afford. You've got 10k gold. If you want to start play with a thoroughbred warhorse with a pedigree traced back to royal mounts, that's cool. It'll cost you, but that's fine. *However*, anything you want to play out once play begins will take time. Like, Alice isn't a large community, and so there are somewhat limited options. If you want to find an exception horse in Alice, as part of role-playing, you may not find one or it will take time.
Does that make sense? If it happens before play begins you're pretty much clear to do whatever. If it happens once play begins the constraints of the gameworld are in effect.
