Re: OOC
@sulldawga. And everyone else, I guess. While possible to carry two shields while on foot (one used, one slung over the back) I would rather not go down this road. However, carrying a spare shield seems like a perfect job for a henchdude. Which I will get you information regarding when I get home. Of course, Marodin can carry as many shields as he desires on his horse/cart.
Re: OOC
May I suggest something? That we all get avatars? It makes it much easier to tell everyone apart.
Also, sorry for only replying now but I haven't been having the chance to come in often and I didn't notice the following posts.
I was actually looking forward to having someone try to take it away from me so I could try to steal it later on

Thanks. I thought I was overdoing it a bit. I tried to make it seem like I was just doing what a thief does best so I put in the bit where I'd show the medallion and what not but I'd steal it back if it I had to part with it. Didn't want to hinder the adventure while still showing I was interested in my "treasure".frobozz wrote:By the way, Luis, nice roleplaying the effect of the "evil voices". I'm glad now that Lanny did not follow through with his original idea, which was to tackle Saul and take the medallion away from him when he first refused to give it up.

Agree, it's my second or third PBP and when I manage to read everything and participate I feel like breaking out the coke and chips, feels like a cool game session with a few friends around the table.zebediah wrote:Great roleplay indeed. This game has been terrific, TK is doing a great job and all of you guys are great to play with. One thing I'm particularly enjoying is the fact that we are keeping a great pace, moving the action forward objectively and to the point without sacrificing the character interaction and setting flavour.
Yeah, that would have been hilarious but I think the way TK handled it was better for the group. We PMed a couple of times so I knew what was up and it was a lot of fun this way too.rremedio wrote:I was already imagining Saul stealing the medallion back from Varis and getting us into trouble

Okay, so there was a lot of stuff mentioned today. I'll be addressing everything in a number of posts both IC and OOC; hopefully this will make it easier to follow than attempt to resolve everything in a single post.
Horse hit points (Saul's first, than Tratiln's): (2d8=11, 2d8=8)

Whew! I think I got everyone that posted. Please let me know if I missed something. I have updated the last map to indicate the rough location of the magic fountaint on Thordin's map.
Re: OOC
I'll be starting a fresh treasure list pretty soon. Please take a look at the "cleaned up" list and make sure any important item notes are transferred over to your character sheet before the items are removed from the list (I'll keep it on there at least until we finish the caves).
Right now the only potentially relevant "group item" I am seeing on the list is the key held by Grey Jake. I figure that key was probably for the treasure chest, but there were also some passages in the goblin portion of the caves that we did not explore...

The key was actually to the door the chest was kept in (not the secret door but the ones the skeletons were guarding).
@zebediah. I have noted in the calendar that Drudsa has spent four hours studying ventriloquism and four hours studying shield.

@tk: any reaction from the guard on Meagnor saying he's going to keep pretending to be a friend of the prisoner?

Re: OOC
Yes, that is what I get as well. Sorry I missed the map's scale on my first assessment!rremedio wrote:I misunderstood the correct place of Threshold in the map. It will take around 3 days to get to the village.

That brings up a point about mount encumbrance. I believe that most of the weight carried by the mount is actually the rider himself. Lanny and his gear currently weigh 2460cn (Lanny weighs 150 lbs, or 1500cn), and his horse's normal "kit" (saddle and tack, saddlebags, bedroll, tent) is 650cn (for a grand total of 3110cn) so the horse is already moving slightly slower than the 80'-per-round speed that is allowed up to 3000cn (I'll assume he can still move at 70' though). Just something to keep in mind if we do find hordes of treasure in the caves or with the ogres.
Lanny will ask Quinthos if there is a branch of the Moneychanger's Guild in his village, where the party could deposit any coin treasure found with the ogres. Lanny assumes (unless told otherwise by Quinthos) that some of the villages along the western route will also have general stores (where the party can restock on rations), as well as good sources of water.

So...the emissary is capable of riddles!
"The sun sets above the grave of three honest men. Look to the king of the forest!" - Meagnor will ask Father Varis about any famous tombs of three honest men, even if we are not going to deal with Elwyn now. But does anyone have a clue about that?

Re: OOC
I've added a stickied thread to record henchmen character sheets. Sulldawga, if you can add Rugard in the next day or so that would be great. Players are responsible for maintaining their own henchman's sheets.
To all. Given that we have nine players and a wait list I am not terribly anxious for everyone to start picking up henchmen. I'm not saying you can't, but would like to be judicious about it.

Yes, Grey Jake will practise when he canthirdkingdom wrote:All of the above looks fine. I will let everyone know what spells are in the spellbooks when I get home this afternoon. Remember, however, that it takes y'all a minimum of 8 hours before you have a chance of learning a new spell.
In addition to the spellcasters doing their thing I am guessing the Grey Jake will spend another 8 hours practicing with the short sword. I also need to indicate on the map where Thordin's spring is.

Re: OOC
Spore Cloud is not a spell you guys have access to, as I have said before. It is not one of the elf-only spells on the wiki page. I think that is what is confusing you. The elf-only spells are those on the wiki page http://wiki.rpg.net/index.php/First_Level that are labeled "elf". Spore Cloud is labeled as "elf/magic-user".Bouv wrote:Tratiln takes a small break from his studies to grab a bit to eat and drink downstairs at the inn and then will go back to study Rainbow Attack again before going to bed. In the morning, Tratiln will memorize Spore Could.
As I have also said, but perhaps did not make clear, the minimum amount of time anyone can spend either learning a spell or practising with a weapon is 2 hours in one day. This assumes the character is able to get in practice/study time at the beginning or end of a day. If you are adventuring/traveling the most you can spend studying/practicing is 2 hours. The most that anyone can spend learning a spell or practising with a weapon in one day is 8 hours. This assumes all the character does during the day is study/practice.
If you would like to memorize new spells, do so in the morning.
Re: OOC
D'oh :slaps forehead: Sorry about that.
Ok so I'll edit my post then - pretty much Tratiln will then just wander about town, donate his chain mail to the church, check on his horse, head back to the inn for the night and in the morning have Sleep memorized.

The adventurers wake to another beautiful spring day. Last minute preparations are made, saddles cinched and audieus are bidden. The companions ride out of town and back along what is becoming the familiar western trail. Not long after leaving the main road and entering the hill country the party comes around a bend in the path to see a pair of wolves lying to the side of the trail, gnawing on a half-eaten deer carcass. It appears to be the same two wolves that paced the party on their previous trip. They seem intent on their meal and do not notice the party immediately.
Are the wolves close to the caves? If so, then our mounts may be vulnerable later. If not, then we may be able to pass them unmolested, since they appear to be sated by their kill, and may deem our group too dangerous to be their next prey.

Hey elves:
It appears there are 4 "elf-only" spells listed on the link, and it appears there are 4 of us. What do you all think of the idea of each one of us taking one of the spells and then "making it our own"? In other words, making the spell really unique and personal to each elf... something that we might not even share with other elves. Totally optional, but I just thought it would be cool to get all of those spells into the game somehow. If we did that, Lanny's first choice would still be "Birdsong / Birdcall", but "Guiding Light" might be a good choice for him as well. Thoughts?
