Sorry Old Duergar and Socratic. That's three and a half days. I know RL is going on. Pushing it forward.

Re: Wanderings (ooc and questions ll)
First of all, my apologies to everyone for my absence from this game. I recently had a death in the family, which has limited my ability to post. Hopefully I can get back to my usual posting schedule in the days to come.Scott308 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 18, 2020 4:36 amWell, since Amon Amarth is one of my favorite bands, and this is one of my favorite songs by them, maybe facing the dragon and risking this should be the appropriate choice, instead of searching the halls.ravenn4544 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 17, 2020 11:24 pm Elbenarin "It is found. More importantly, Scott308--thanks for posting the Amon Amarth video! I love heavy metal music, but haven't heard AA before. \m/
How do we know you're not a donkey-brained man?
Re: Wanderings (ooc and questions ll)
I'm sorry for your loss, Socratic. My sympathies to you and your family.

Re: Wanderings (ooc and questions ll)
You're welcome! Their music is all about Vikings and Norse mythology- battle and the doings of the Gods. And they don't take themselves too seriously. In concert, they have a song where the singer tells everyone to sing along on the chorus. He then says, It doesn't matter if you don't know the words. This is death metal- no one will know the difference!SocraticLawyer wrote: ↑Mon Nov 23, 2020 12:07 am More importantly, Scott308--thanks for posting the Amon Amarth video! On November 2nd I will be participating in another 24 hour game of Dungeons & Dragons as part of Extra Life. This organization uses gaming to help raise money to donate to children's hospitals. I'm raising money for Marshfield Children's Hospital in Marshfield, WI, and all money I raise will go to that hospital. All donations are tax-deductible. Please take a moment to check out my donation page below. Thank you.

Rumil should definitely go ahead of Glasik. There is no way he'll be able to surprise if he's walking next to a clanky dwarf!

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family, Socratic.
Winter is coming...

Sorry, Old Duergar and Starbeard. That's three and a half days. Steamrollin' forward.

Re: Wanderings (ooc and questions ll)
Happy Thanksgiving!
It's been a rough year. I'm thankful for this escapism, and for all of you who make it possible. Thank you.

Agreed!
These games have been the only good part of a really nasty year so far.

Re: Wanderings (ooc and questions ll)
Thanks for such wonderful games, Inferno! And thanks to the rest of you for being such fun players.
Re: Wanderings (ooc and questions ll)
Thanks everyone. Appreciate it.
Old Duergar, socratic and wolfpack, I know it's a holiday week but a majority of PCs have posted, including the scouts; enough to move the game forward. Given that opportunity, I'll take it. Onward.

Question: In 1E, for an ability check, you're supposed to roll under it...right?

Re: Wanderings (ooc and questions ll)
Cool...that's what I thought.
It sometimes gets a bit confusing since I'm running a 1E, a 2E, and a 5E game and playing in the same

Re: Wanderings (ooc and questions ll)
I don't know how you do it. I once thought about running Moldvay Basic but figured I'd never be able to keep two systems straight!
Re: Wanderings (ooc and questions ll)
The nice thing about Moldvay Basic is that you could probably fit the entire rules (sans class descriptions and tables) onto 4 sides of paper and still have some space. Everything else is "make something up," which typically gets translated as "default to your familiar edition."
So as long as you use standardized -3 to +3 ability modifiers, open doors on a 2:6, check reaction at the start of an encounter, and make a morale roll after the monsters first take a hit, then you can just play AD&D for the rest and probably no one would notice.
