Tratiln, upon spotting the ogres, whispers to himself, monsters.... Looking around, he quickly tells the rest, Quickly and quietly, duck & hide. We don't want those monstrosities seeing us

With that, Tratiln will, as quietly as he can, head to the closest area of cover, out of site of the ogres.

Lanny the elf

Lanny looks upon the scene of devastation in stunned silence.

"Quinthos, I ... "

He starts to speak but his voice fails him, and his eyes mist up. He tries to maintain his composure.

"What did they want, to make them do this?" he whispers quietly as questions flood his mind.

Spotting the ogres on the other side of the clearing, Lanny snaps back to attention.

"Ogres! There, on the other side of the clearing... They will no doubt see us and sound an alarm if we enter the clearing... Let us circle around the perimeter and surprise them."

Lanny suggests moving east through the woods around the perimeter of the village, up to a safe distance from the northern guard post, so that they can use their spyglass to see what, if anything, is happening at that location.
Lanny will also suggest that the party use the Birdcall/Birdsong spell now, and let the scouts take the lead on the patrol through the woods. He is not sure if these ogres they see are part of the southern guard post, the wandering group, or the northern guard post. He suggests that they will eventually need to circle the entire perimeter of the village to make sure the entire area is cleared of ogres.

Quinthos appears to be in shock. He says nothing, arms held limply at his side, looking around with a blank expression.

Bregalad the elf

For Bregalad, all is quiet. He does not hear his comrades' words, nor does he notice them slipping back into the woods. He sees only ogres standing where there should be elves.

The elf removes his helm, holding it under his shield arm, and begins walking towards the brutes.
If the ogres notice him and come to meet him, Bregalad will stop, don his helm, and wait for the clash. If they turn and run from the sight of a single elf, he will give chase.

Lanny the elf

Seeing Bregalad start to walk into the clearing, Lanny whispers to the others:

"Stay covered. Be ready to fire or to charge as needed."

Lanny readies an arrow in his longbow and watches intently for the reaction of the ogres.

Thordin the dwarf, saddened by the death of creatures with such long lifespans, begins singing a dwarven funeral dirge.

Seeing Bregalad walking towards the ogres, Thordin joins him at his side, a solemn march for the dwarf.

I will post an IC update after I hear from some more people. Is Bregalad alone in going to confront the ogres? Is everyone that is hiding in the forest going to wait where they are, or are they going to advance around the perimeter of the clearing, so as to roughly stay abreast with Bregalad.

Tratiln, seeing Bregalad and Thordin marching, will, after making sure Quinthos is out of sight, slowly follow, trying to stay hidden in an attempt to get a jump on the ogres when they approach. He will ready his throwing hammer, say a prayer to his immortal for some additional luck for both himself and his allies, and prepare for battle.

There's really no good way to stay hidden, at least not until the remains of the village is reached. On the plus side, the ogres have yet to notice the PCs, and there is perhaps a distance of 200 feet before the first ruined building is reached.

Saul, tough saddened by the death of the elves, says nothing nor does he show it. He also only faintly acknowledges Quinthos. His grudges hold for a long time.

Seeing Bregalad and Thordin advancing he readies his bow and maneuvers around the clearing so that he can keep them covered. There isn't much else he can do with them being already in the open and their plans unknown to him. He will still try to hide as well as he can.

He thinks to himself that he never thought a dwarf would be so touched by the death of unknown elves. He never thought of Thordin as particularly prejudiced but he still finds it... odd, given what little he knows of dwarves.

Meagnor the Elf talks to the others while he starts to follow Bregalad and Thordin from a short distance: "I suppose we are left no choice but a direct clash now. We should start shooting as soon as we can."
Meagnor will follow them close and when the ogres are within reach, will run in front of the two companions and cast Sleep, hoping to put one or two of the ogres down. Then he will prepare for missile range and start shooting when the moment comes.

Drudsa the dabbler

Still stunned by the gruesome scenario Drudsa is even more shocked when his companions start to advance towards the ogres

"Wai... oh, darn it!" he curses under his breath then starts following the others "Hey, don't just throw yourselves at them. We can still subdue them with magic."

Seeing Bregalad and Thordin leading some of the party into a direct confrontation with the villainous ogres Quinthos begins to shake with barely concealed fury. "Ah, but I should be out there with them!" he cries, "but I see the wisdom in some of us staying concealed, for the nonce! I also do not think I could control my wrath were I to look too closely upon the devastation those brutes have unleashed!"

Drudsa the dabbler

As he starts to follow the others Drudsa hears Quinthos' lament and addresses him before continuing towards the ogres

"Preserve your life Quinthos. If we perish here you flee and get more help, for some of your folk might still be alive and imprisoned somewhere."

Tratiln turns to Quinthos, "That but don't save too much of that wrath 'cause we may need it. Those ogres may not realize the rest of us are hidden and that may give us an advantage. When our allies attack, we shall attack from cover and keep them offguard and press our advantages.

Damning caution and care to the wind, Bregalad strides forward towards the ogres. He and those following pass under the burnt and scarred canopy of the great oak, under the dangling feet of the five dead elves hanging from the limb, and on towards the oblivious ogres, who are so engrossed in sorting through the rubble they do not look up.

Lanny and the others move silently around the perimeter of the woods. Quinthos' hands are white upon his bow. They encounter no difficulty, and though they must hustle to keep up with their comrades they are able to do so.
We're just missing Marodin's action, so I decided to go ahead and post IC so you guys can react. Please note that given the rolls I made below, Bregalad and others can essentially close until melee range without being spotted. So, you guys have the option of doing that, casting spells/firing missiles as soon as you get within range, etc. Lanny and those hiding will have to hustle to keep abreast, since they are walking the perimeter of the clearing, but when they do they will be within 200' of the ogres.
Ogres notice PCs on a 1 on 1d6. Roll every hundred yards: 5#1d6 3 6 2 5 2. Wandering ogre patrol. 1 on 1d12, roll thrice:: 3#1d12 11 7 4

Lanny the elf

Lanny hustles around the perimeter of the clearing, carefully watching as his companions in the clearing walk quietly towards the ogres. Lanny speaks quietly to his companions on the perimeter while they are moving:

"Quinthos - where is the northern guard post? I am deeply concerned about reinforcements from the north, both from the guard post and from the lair. Tratiln - I hope you still have that sleep spell memorized - we may need it very soon. Let's see if we can't hurry and make it to the north side of the village. That will allow us to surround and flank the enemy in the clearing, cut off their escape route, and prevent any other ogres from the north from entering the clearing."

Lanny will continue to hustle around the perimeter, as quietly as possible for one who is hustling in plate mail armor.
Lanny will match the pace of his companions in the clearing. If they are walking, he will walk quickly. If they are running, he will run quickly.
