The adventurers gather around the door behind which lurk the two giant centipedes. After preparing their weapons, Brax grabs the door handle and pulls the door open. Much to the groups surprise what they see aren't the the giant insects they expected but a lone figure wearing a brown robe and wearing a wolf mask.

The lone figure is as surprised as the adventurers to be caught in the light from Alastor's lantern, but after the initial shock passes, he drops to all fours and begins to bark and growl at the group.

Lindon Silverheart keeps his bow trained on the wolf-man.

Jofrid keeps his crossbow on the being, readying to fire should it attack.

Lavex gives the man-acting-as-a-dog a strange look and tries to communicate with a simple; "It's okay....we're not here to hurt you"; while keeping his hammer loose in his hand and ready to wield if needed; but hopefully not threatening....

Brax says "Cover me". He walks towards the man and says "Here, boy" encouragingly like he would to a dog

Alastor the Bold, Magic-user

Alastor gathers his robes about him and backs slightly away from the man. Who knows, he might be rabid.

The man in the dog mask snarls and bares his teeth as the dwarf approaches. As Brax draws nearer the man slowly backs up out of the light, until he is almost complete outside it's farthest reach. he then turns nd lopes of on all fours into the darkness.

Mushgnome wrote:"Has anyone else noticed the men we've met so far in this pyramid seem a little... off?" Lord Morel quips.
"Well," Peadar ponders aloud, "they DO live in a pyramid in the middle of the desert..."

Now that they are clear of the men in the gold masks, he slips the silver ring back onto his finger.

I'm going to assume you plan to go down the corridor...

The corridor ahead goes do west for forty feet before turning south. As you shine the light from your lantern ahead, you see the corridor goes twenty feet before turning to the east. Set ahead in the wall one of the usual stone door you've found throughout the pyramid.

Jofrid motions to his companions to keep the noise down.
He then will move forward, check the area in front of the door, and then the door for traps. If none are found he will then listen at the door.

Lavex decides to keep the warhammer in hand; seeing as how it offered the advantage of being both a useful hand-held weapon and one that he could hurl if needed and moved up to keep an alert eye out as Jofrid listened at the door. He too was wondering about the 'oddness' of the humans they had encountered here in the pyramid and wondered if perhaps some enchantment in this place led to anyone who stayed here too long becoming...."off"......

Lindon Silverheart has his makeshift crossbow at the ready.

(OOC: Since Lindon is in the 2nd row, on the left side, I would assume that he is able to face the east corridor to watch it.)

Jofrid carefully checks the door and finds nothing amiss. He presses his ear to the stone door and strains to listen through the thick stone. Strain as he might, he hears nothing beyond the door, though whether it be from no noise being made or that it is dampened by the stone he doesn't know.

The others keeping watch begin to hear a soft rustling noise coming from the corridor to the eat, though whatever is making the noise is well beyond the light cast by the lantern.

Peadar keeps an eye on the eastern passage. He also makes a point of checking their back and monitoring ceilings, as well.

Alastor the Bold, Magic-user

Alastor graciously steps aside to allow Lindon to go past him and investigate the mysterious sounds. His one spell spent for the day, he draws a dagger in one hand to throw and holds his lantern a bit higher in the other.
