Elnaerel mutters Darklin's name when he sees him falling on the ground. She starts running to help him get out of the cobmat and staunch his bleeding. When she sees Feanol doing so, she will help the mage in both stopping the bleeding and putting the spellsword out of danger.

The High Price Of Pork
Moonday, 22nd of Goodmonth
Mid Afternoon, Sunny, Hot, Humid, Buggy

Before the hairy hog has a chance to flee over the fallen Darklin to escape the hut, Keg and Keyon hack it into lunchmeat. With a final loud squeal, it falls to the ground next to the rotting bale.

TK cant see through the leaning wall of the structure, but Elnaerel must be able to, as she rushes in to help her dying kin. She and Feanol bind the gore holes in Darklin, stabilizing him where he lay.

The excitement over as quickly as it started, the dust begins to settle inside the hot, stinky structure.

Keyon

Rather than berate himself for taking foolish risks yet again, Keyon simply shrugs inwardly, accepts the mess he's become, and slips out of the lean-to to clean his blade on a clump of greenery.
He takes a moment to catch his breath, then returns to the task of examining the packs.

He grimaces as he prods and looks through them. "You're not going to jump up and gore me or turn into serpents and bite me, are you?" He asks with a raised eyebrow. "It wouldn't surprise me in this place."

The Knife

The Knife cautiously approaches the lean-to. "Is it dead? He looks at Darklin. "Is he okay?"

Once everything is a little calmer he says "Well done all of you! That was a dreadful surprise."

"Obviously with Darklin in that condition, we'll have to stay here tonight. Perhaps two of us can work on improving the lean-to, two of us
can butcher the hog and cook it, and one person can stand guard?"

The Knife coughs and looks a little embarrassed. "...er...I'm afraid I don't know anything about butchering. Actually, neither of us do."

Feanol

Feanol hears them talking about cleaning up the lean to. "Can we move it, I just don't see how we can get that mess in there clean enough to sleep in. Moving over to a clean area with the frame would be much nicer".

Keg

The north man surveys the end of the brief fight and looks at Darklin. What's the vertic?
Does he feast in Valhalla tonight?
he ask matter of factly. He then drags the pig outside, grinning at the prize. We're going to eat like kings tonight!

Once he knows Darlin and everyone else is okay, he will shake his head and chuckle. We're all doomed to live forever it seems! Someone help me move these brutes to the river. We can let the current do the work from there.

He will immediately grab the largest of the ogres and start dragging him by the neck to the west.

The Knife

The gnome looks at Keg, raising his eyebrows. "The river? But the river is almost a mile away".

He peers up at Keg "Are you feeling okay? All that fighting in this heat can't be good." The Knife offers his waterskin to Keg. "Here, have some of this."

"I'm not saying you couldn't drag them that far,
he says to the towering Northman. "Just that it would probably be dark before you got back."

Elnaerel drags Draklin to a more confortable place, maybe using something that the ogres might have used as a bed, as long as it doesn't stink. "He'll survive, but he needs be taken care of. I can do that, but unfortunately Ehlenestra won't grant me more curative powers today. So it'll have to wait until tomorrow morning, once I've made my morning prayers to my godess. Feanol, could you take care of him while I help taking those dead brutes away?" She stands up and goes help Keg and TK.

She looks around and points at the dead animal. "Could someone please drag the boar away from that bale? I don't trust it being even for a second next to that poisonous thing."

Meat Sweats
Moonday, 22nd of Goodmonth
Late Afternoon, Sunny, Hot, Humid, Buggy

Always the overachiever, Keg suggests dragging the dead ogres to the river, a good mile or more through the thick jungle. TK mentions the amount of work that would take, so a short distance downwind is agreed upon as a better location to store the smelly things. As the stronger members of the group take on this unpleasant endeavor, an unmarked trail is eventually found at the edge of the clearing. With huge naked foot prints in the dirt along the overgrown path, this must have been what the ogres used to access the river water, for drinking, but clearly not for bathing.

Feanol agrees to care for Darklin as the others work, wishing she could find a cleaner place to let the elf rest. Everything inside the shelter is dirty and stinks of a combination of wet doghair, ogrestank, stale smoke, and the moldering bales of reeking plants. Looking at the logs and brush, the thing could likely be moved, but that would also take a lot of time and effort, even just to move it a few yards down the cliff face.

Keyon looks through the discarded packs, glad to find them far less dangerous then the pile of "furs". Inside he finds old clothing, 4 days worth of tightly packed iron rations, 2 empty water skins, 4 large empty sacks, a small secured leather pouch, and a packet of old parchments tied together with twine.

Keyon

The rogue, now meticulous rather than daring, carefully shakes out the clothing and folds it neatly, then lays out the remaining goods for his comrades to inspect. He'll check the small leather pouch on the off-chance it contains a pretty bauble, as well.

Finally, he gestures toward the pile and glances at Feanol. "Well, lady. We have clothing, sacks, waterskins, a pouch, and parchment. Have you any use for the parchment?"

He spares a glance for the unconscious Darklin, his brow furrowing. "Took quite a hit, didn't he?"

The Knife

Once back at the clearing, The Knife starts to gather leaves, fallen branches and vines. He sets to work trying to build screens for the lean-to.

"So what are our plans for tomorrow?" he asks the others. "Explore some more? Or head back to town? "

"I can see some of you are still a bit banged up and Darklin might need a bit more rest. I suppose we could camp here tomorrow and keep on going after that. I don't mind spending more time out here. We've got plenty of food now."
He nods over at the boar carcass.

I just noticed "Meat Sweats"

Keg

Once the ogres are disposed of in a big pile way out in the brush, Keg will get to work butchering the pig. Shame about Darklin, but at least it won't be rations tonight. Hopefullyhe will wake up and get to have some! he gets into the grizzle of it, gutting the pig and putting it on a bamboo spit for roasting over the fire once it is lit. He disposes of the waste by burrying it near the treeline.

Feanol

"Why thank you sir, I'll be happy to take a look at the parchment" she says eager to see if they can gain some knowledge in this place. She glances at the carefully laid out loot with more curiosity than desire.

Meat Sweats
Moonday, 22nd of Goodmonth
Late Afternoon, Sunny, Hot, Humid, Buggy

After dragging the dead ogres away a good distance, upwind, Keg gets to the task of butchering the huge hog before the meat goes bad in this oppressive heat. He finds that the meat looks fine, but a few of the organs are heavily dotted with white spots. It takes some time to dress out the large animal, so luckily the northman has done this sort of thing before.

Keyon hands the parchment to Feanol while he looks in the leather pouch, finding a half dozen chunks of what appears to be multicolored uncut gems of some kind. Never seeing such a thing before, the elf has no idea of their value, if there is any. Feanol looks over the papers, the first in the pack is filled with numbers and symbols that she doesn't recognize. Familiar with the tracking of stars and their movements, the frail elven woman thinks this might be someone's recordings of longitudes, latitudes, and landmarks, though she has no idea how to read any of it. The second parchment has a strange semi-circular diagram drawn upon it with the words Ruined Temple written in common across the bottom of the page. The rest of the parchment is all blank, but still usable. Oddly, no writing instrument is found with the papers.

The Knife uses the time to gather sticks and large leaves, attempting to make screens for the ends of the structure to help keep the bugs out, since they plan on sleepin inside of it now. He asks around about their future plans, but gets no commitments from the others.

holy cow. Those must be the obeliskes. That means there might be one in the temple, but what is that other structure? If these make a circle and up is south then that means beachtown might be inside that circle. Some obeliskes might even be out in the water.

The Knife

For the moment The Knife keeps working on the screens. "We need to make this place a bit more defensible before dark", he says. "We can drag that tree trunk that Keg cut down over here, and rig it up as a trap. Maybe over there". He points at the corner where the jungle meets the cliff face, only thirty feet from the lean-to.

"We can push these bales out of the way too. They would just give cover to anything that wants to sneak up on us."

I'm wondering about that structure too. Almost to the point of "Let's skip the obelisks and go straight there!" :) The one to the right of the temple is the one that Chauncey's group is at right now. Which means the one to the left can't be that far from the temple either.

Elnaerel

"Those are really good ideas, Knife. I'll help you out. But we sohuldn't touch those bales, much less with our bare hands. What if we use tome sticks or something we may find here to push them rolling to where we want to place them?" She looks around to see if she can find two or three relatively straight and thick at least three foot branches.

More mysteries to be revealed! If it's true that the obelisks can reach even Beachtown, what if there's one inside Glansadi's tower? Maybe that's what affected him :P And, yes, that other structure... :?:
