Chapter One - Into the Shadows
Re: Chapter One - Into the Shadows
Lothien also searches the room, looking at the walls, floor, ceiling and explosion area.

Re: Chapter One - Into the Shadows
Rodrigo files in and puts his eyes to work, as well, investigating the rubble and debris strewn about the room, poking it with the toe of his boot and digging around.

Re: Chapter One - Into the Shadows
Soot covers the floor and walls, webbing dangles down from the ceiling and covers what looks like a burned chair.
Some kind of sword with a broken blade is visible from underneath the chair.
Some melted metal grates litter the side of the room to the right of the door hanging off its hinges.
The light from your torches reflects from something down the hall past the ruined door.

Sade will go through the ruined door and see what is down the hall.

Re: Chapter One - Into the Shadows
What can I discern of the runes and their purpose? Is the chair in the runes or somewhere else? Does the explosion / soot eminate from the runes, the chair, or somewhere else? Does the explosion seem magic or mundane as a result? Do the runes relate to extraplanar threats like expected, or can I discern something else here?Marullus wrote: ↑Tue Aug 04, 2020 5:27 pm Following the others into the chamber, Awwrak applies his expertise to studying the runes on the floor, channelling the wisdom of the All-Father.
Study the markings (Guidance/Arcana) [1d20+7] = 16+7 = 23[1d4] = 2
(Total of 25)
Is the door broken inward or outward? Does it look blasted by the explosion or battered by some other force?

3of4
Assuming everyone is inside the room now.
The warforged move into the room with the others and looked around. Of course it was the martial weapon that caught his attention. He would walk over and pick up the sword fragments and examine them.

Lothien will also go to the doorway where Sade is and look down the hallway, using his half-elf darkvision.

The runes look to be a type of summoning rune.
Is the chair in the runes or somewhere else?
The chair is to the north east of the runes.
Does the explosion / soot eminate from the runes, the chair, or somewhere else?
It seems as if the explosion came from the runes.
Does the explosion seem magic or mundane as a result?
You would guess it was magical
Do the runes relate to extraplanar threats like expected, or can I discern something else here?
You can't make out enough of the runes since they are damaged and melted

Re: Chapter One - Into the Shadows
Lothien and Sade stand near the door that was blown outwards from the room by what they assume was the explosion from the runes.
The hallway seems completely blocked by thick strands of pearl-gray webbing.
Using the darkvision you see two short-ish figures darting around at the end of the passageway.

"Looks like some sort of creature in these webs or on the other side of them anyways. Should we burn the webs?"

Re: Chapter One - Into the Shadows
Qelnaar thinks for a moment. "I would say burning the webs will alert others of our presence; but as they assuredly know already I don't see a concern in burning the webs."
Re: Chapter One - Into the Shadows
"Yes, I'd agree Qelnar. And burning them might flush out a dangerous spider, rather than having it surprise us. We've already run into two spider things today."

Re: Chapter One - Into the Shadows
Hey Rad, did 3 get anything from that sword?
3of4 will note and then point to the other door to their west. We have two routs of escape, and two routes which should be guarded against attack. then turning to look over at the webs which he is I think at least already standing before. If there is chance of a venomous attack, then I should be the one to risk taking the brunt of it. he looks back and forth between these three things as if unable to make a decision. This was easier with my brothers... Assess: Primary threat... that which is in the room with us. he will drops the broken sword he was inspecting and ready himself for guarding against spiders from the web.

Re: Chapter One - Into the Shadows
Hopefully I've got everyone roughly where they want to be.
As you look down the passageway engulfed in web, you see that the webbing is coated with some kind of thick, slimy liquid.
You definitely hear movement on the other side of the web but don't see anything.

Re: Chapter One - Into the Shadows
Awwrak chitters. He has had enough of these invisible threats. He watches down the hallway for any clear indication of presence, be it a sound, a movement, an incoming attack.
Held action: Sacred Flame.
Held action: Sacred Flame.
Re: Chapter One - Into the Shadows
Qelnaar steps towards the door where Awwrak stands. He looks to his compatriot with a slight bit of angst, wanting to cast Sacred Flame on the webbing but realizing he is more brash than his patient friend. So he waits to see if there is any movement in the webbing.
Re: Chapter One - Into the Shadows
Rodrigo regards the sticky webs with narrowed eyes and pursed lips. "Spiders..." He says with distaste. The man shudders noticeably and keeps a safe distance from the webs.

"We need to clear the webs somehow, any ideas?"

Re: Chapter One - Into the Shadows
Qelnaar pulls a torch out of his pack and pulls the tinderbox from his pouch. Lighting the torch, he looks to Sade with a "ta-da" smirks and proceeds to place the torch in among the webbing.
