Chapter 11: Anxiously Contemplating the Hobgoblins!
Re: Chapter 11: Anxiously Contemplating the Hobgoblins!
Wexley has a sudden compulsion to carefully search the southern passage
10' Trap Check Floor[1d100] = 35 Trap Check Left Wall[1d100] = 79 Trap Check Right Wall[1d100] = 69 Secret passages[1d6] = 6
30' Trap Check Floor[1d100] = 95 Trap Check Left Wall[1d100] = 70 Trap Check Right Wall[1d100] = 83 Secret passages[1d6] = 2
at which point he will listen down the passage: Hear Noise [1d100] = 69

Dungeon Master:
Surprise, Surprise!
When Wexley begins to search 20 feet into the southern passage, a barrage of crossbow bolts greets him & shouts, in Hobgoblin are heard by everyone.
Mort had also started 20 feet into the north passage. Neither had found any traps or doors in the first 10 feet they explored.
Obviously the one Hobgoblin had warned others & this was the spot they picked to attack!
Will be rolling to see if anyone was surprised & the To Hits for about 2 crossbow bolts on Wexley.

doesn't like to be that much behind the group: "An old dog doesn't fall far from the tree!" and moves up closer to Sister Opal, while getting out his sling and loading it with one carefully selected stone

Kormak will rush up and pull Wexley back out of ranged attack view.
Mort halts his advance.

Borum moves to the eastern wall before the corner allowing room for the ranged fighters before him.
Wexley back peddles fast, feeling a helping tug pull him.

Ewat moves to the corner, nocks and arrow, and leans out from behind cover just long enough to fire his bow before pulling back.
Short-range Bow: [1d20+3] = 15+3 = 18 Damage: [1d6x2] = 4x2 = 8

Maya sheathes her sword and grabs a throwing axe, heading down to the corner. She uses her shield as additional cover and peaks beyond the corner, attempting to locate the hobgoblins. If it is too dark she will call back, "We need more light!"

Dungeon Master:
Ok, after Kormak pulls Wexley back & Mort halts his advance & Ewat fires off a blind shot at -4 to hit (so 14) you all note that there is no pursuit from either corridor.

Wexley turns to Kormak's Thanks, that was close. I guess they were expecting us.
Dusting himself off he looks to the others Any ideas?
Borum shrugs "At this distance, all I can do is brace my shield at the corner to provide cover. But what I wanna know is, what is so important to protect to not give chase

Lutha & Wexley, understood the Hobgoblin speak & mentioned that they hollered "Fire!", then "Halt!".

Lutha relays this information to the others in the group, and also adds: "hmmm...a burnt child is another man's poison"Lutha & Wexley, understood the Hobgoblin speak & mentioned that they hollered "Fire!", then "Halt!".
Wolfram's
comment is: "It's simple. We outnumbered them. They ran"

Mort asks "Anyone have some flasks of oil and something we can use as a fuse?"

in reply to Mort: "One flask of oil, I have. Here you are! As for a fuse...well, the K-Martie garments we found recently?"

Re: Chapter 11: Anxiously Contemplating the Hobgoblins!
Mort "Aye that should work if we tear off a strip of it and soak it in the oil then pull a section of it out to act as a fuse." then mort sets to trying to make a sort of oil flask bomb.

Re: Chapter 11: Anxiously Contemplating the Hobgoblins!
Wexley nocks his arrow ready to fire after the fire bomb has been thrown and yells out in hobgoblin "We are the Kmarties Salvation. Lower your shields and surrender your swords. We will add your loot and treasure to our own. Your culture will adapt to survive elsewhere. Resistance is futile."
Shot after firebomb To hit: [1d20+1] = 19+1 = 20, damage with short bow: [1d6+2] = 1+2 = 3
Borum just shakes his head at Wexley and braces the shield at/against the corner to provide the others with cover below Maya, whilst keeping himself covered mostly behind the wall.
