Between The Spaces We Know (ooc and questions Vlll)
Re: Between The Spaces We Know (ooc and questions Vlll)
It was an idea- nobody said it was a GOOD idea....
I'd say we run like hell, with some of the better fighters in the back as rearguard. Once we're on the stairs, maybe someone can block them- like with fallen stones or whatever.

If the sled is slow enough that a spellcaster doesn't need his hands to hang on, or to balance themselves to remain on it, it should be possible. But that would be a pretty slow, flat course.Jerome and Mouser, the paladin and the rogue, agree that a sled could help them pull their firewood up the towering dark mountain. Ingrid goes out to find Tulach who will sell her a large sturdy sled for two pieces of gold.

This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.

How long would it take Rudolf to fashion a five-point harness?Inferno wrote:If the sled is slow enough that a spellcaster doesn't need his hands to hang on, or to balance themselves to remain on it, it should be possible. But that would be a pretty slow, flat course.

I need more info please before I can answer that.rredmond wrote:How long would it take Rudolf to fashion a five-point harness?

From what is he fashioning it, please?
A 5 point harness usually straps you to a chair with a back. Is the intention that the wearer is laying down on the sled?
How are the straps affixed to the sled?
Thanks.

That spell takes 10 rounds to cast, fyi. It also requires a pre-existing storm.
The weather here remains clear: viewtopic.php?p=449580#p449580
There had been snow lower on the mountain, during your ascent, fyi.

Someone else picked up Amity, right? If not, he does so.
Also, shouldn't Urdur have a torch?
Brevos picked her up.

Urdur dropped the torch to cast Dancing Lights. The spell is a light source, so he no longer really needed a lit torch too. Especially while running and carrying the child who weighs half of Urdur's weight.
Urdur could have relit a torch when he was waiting for the party to emerge from the stonegate, if you want.

I thought Udur lit a torch while waiting for the rest of the crew.
How do we know you're not a donkey-brained man?
Re: Between The Spaces We Know (ooc and questions Vlll)
Sorry Pixie and Ron. That's four days. Onward, ever onward.

Hope we haven't set the legions of undead free to roam the world...

Re: Between The Spaces We Know (ooc and questions Vlll)
Bo is willing to continue down the steps a bit further before deciding how to proceed. I guess it might be prudent for us to make sure the undead are actually following us before wasting any magic on them.
Inferno, I am assuming that the steps are not real wide, is that correct?
As for the suggested wall, the spell will only transmute so much material, so I am not sure he could create one large enough to stop them. Flattening a few steps seemed more feasible.

Re: Between The Spaces We Know (ooc and questions Vlll)
OK- no prob. I know as little about the spell as Jerome would- maybe less. I had an image of the stairs going through a cut in the rock- a wall in a place like that would bottle them up nicely. I'll quit jostling your elbow now...

Since we went dashing through the snow, is it possible to salvage the one-ranger open sleigh?

Re: Between The Spaces We Know (ooc and questions Vlll)
It is, but you don't want to ride it like that again. Too dangerous... unless you have no choice because the horde is inches away from you once more.

"What if the undead are still coming for us? What if we leave now and the thousands of monsters eventually pour off of this mountain into the inhabited lands beyond?"
"Nay, I am not ready to depart for civilization until we can be certain that we didnt do more harm than good here."
Great posts, as usual. I just want to alert you that your previous idea...

I can turn a good sized portion of these steps into a steep slope. If I summon some water over the top of them, it should freeze quickly enough to make the icy ramp even harder to navigate. ..."
...won't be viable soon. The grey druid knows that further down the mountain, the stone stair gets wider and the terrain off the stairway is easier to traverse. So if you wish to use your magic to avoid a zombie apocalypse across all of Greyhawk, now is the time.

I think your idea would only require two rounds to cast.
On the other hand, typing the words, "a zombie apocalypse across all of Greyhawk" just gave me the shivers. If you guys want this game to become a brutal Lovecraftian apocalypse horror campaign, that could be interesting too.
