12 - Fight in the Forest
Re: 12 - Fight in the Forest
Let's get dex checks for both Tella and Enoka quick. You guys will only have time for reactions no spells.
Vek starts into a run, but fears he may be too late. This thing that Roseheart pointed at but Vek didn't really see could have been one of the scouts.
Roseheart could unleash magic but the thing will be pretty close to Tella soon. Roseheart could slowly follow Vek to get a better Vantage.
Glimble, no clear shot yet, but you can keep the gun ready and fire if you get a look, you could start to slowly follow Vek to get a better vantage. Maybe roll me a d12 just for sight...

Sight Check [1d12] = 1
I actually did turn to follow Tella but I'll just sit at the chest I'm not going to follow Vek in his suicidal rush.

Dex check: [1d20] = 3
OCC: Tella's reaction is to cast a spell, if that cannot be done can you list her options? If she simply cannot do anything, say that.

Re: 12 - Fight in the Forest
tella - since you rolled really low on your dex deck you can react, but wont have time to get a spell off. You could do a defensive move (jump behind trees, dodge, etc..)which would give you a bonus to AC.
If you had a weapon in hand you could throw or use it, but won't have time to dig through pockets before it is too late.

Re: 12 - Fight in the Forest
It all goes down in an instant. Roseheart yells out, and then Tella scrabbles and leaps behind a tree.
Enoka has just enough time to think, ware? Ware what?
Then a huge glistening black gargoyle leaps out of the forest and directly onto Enoka. It comes down on her raking her with its claws, and then leaping back up into the air and away into the forest.
*Glimble you rolled awesome on your sight check, i was looking for low, take a shot at the creature.
*Vek when you burst into the scene Enoka is reeling from an attack and the thin has kept into the bushes again. Do you keep running to follow it?

Tantos Vek, failed paladin:
Vek stands guard over the injured woman and the treasure chest. No need to give chase. The creature will be back. They want the chest.
"Enoka. Are you all right?" he croaks.
Then: "Time to open the chest. Let's see what's so important to the Fatman. If anything inside is fragile or flammable, maybe it's our bargaining chip to get out of this alive."
Vek gets a torch alight.
Have we dispelled magic on the chest already? If not, Enoka, can you please?

Re: 12 - Fight in the Forest
OK quick memory check, did we cast a dispel on the chest? Or a detect magic?
I'm looking back and I don't think so but I'm not 100%.

OCC: No spells were cast on the chest, Tella recklessly opens it with no regard for common sense.

Round 1- part 2
Glimble sights down the barrel of his Gondish weapon and waits. In the corner of his eye, Vek charges toward enoka and Tella. The slick black thing leaps out of the forest and lands on Enoka, Glimble adjusts and when the thing leaps back up
Blam!
The shot takes the creature in the side and it stumbles into some underbrush on its second leap.
As Vek bears down down on the ladies, Tella opens the chest and there is another
Whump!
And then a red fireball knocks tella back on her behind. Even Vek catches 1 pt of damage...
(Tella roll a save)
(Glimble did u use those new speed loader bullets?)
(Vek will be able to attack the beast since Glimble knocked it off course during its flight - I'll roll for him)

Re: 12 - Fight in the Forest
Yes I used one speed loader bullet.
Glimble smiling at his aim being true takes out another of the speed loader bullets the tinker gnomes created for him and hurries to be able to fire again.

Re: 12 - Fight in the Forest
Tella, lucky save! Only 8 pts of damage!
As Tella shifts back up to her feet she sees the chest was undamaged by the magical fire which bit at her skin. A mechanism inside lifted several trays up and out of the box with surprising height. It is nothing but a kings ransom.
The top trays have jewels. Diamonds and ruby, emerald, and amythest. Even a few winkling magical jewels. Each tray is heaped with jewels, all clean - cut, sometimes even sleeved in small silk tubes, those must be especially large or rare.
The next level is platinum and gold coins. Many coins, all sorted into thin paper sleeves.
Below that are more exotic pieces of treasure. A quick glance suggests you have perhaps 100000 or maybe 200000 gold piece worth of treasure in that small heavy chest. Maybe more....
But for now the battle is afoot! Vek is leaping toward the devil that fell into the underbrush after Glimble struck it true with a speed loader. You just heard a strange almost pathetic moaning noise from the forest. It cut through the howling orcs noises. Roseheart looks forward and assesses that the orcs will probably be on you in another minute or so (1-2 more rounds). Some of them may run heedless into the entangle spell.
Everybody else -- let me know your actions for round 2.

Action for Glimble is same as stated above.
Glimble completes reloading his firearm and readies to shoot the next foe he sees.

Roseheart falls back - keeping the entangle spell between him and the approaching orcs - to give him some range for a big spell.
