Whispered Asides and Backroom Squabbles: OOC
Re: Whispered Asides and Backroom Squabbles: OOC
I don't know what everyone else thinks and can manage, but I'm also excited and 10 minutes of reading and writing per day, and a map update every few days, is totally manageable. But then this is the only game I'm in on here...

As far as I'm concerned, I can post daily, but as a RL DM I can totally see how that could not be a regular schedule for Pulpatoon
It's my first game here and so far, I'm loving the text-based format.

In the very near future I may be obnoxiously prolific but the bottom line is whatever frequency works for the entire group. You can always ignore Horton.
It just occurred to me- we haven't heard from the hawk lately. Still in the game, I hope.

Um, the hawk was the first casualty. RIP Petit-Four.

I was being a dick and only amusing myself, hence the "too soon?" comment. Apologies.

Re: Whispered Asides and Backroom Squabbles: OOC
Usually, pets in my games tend to "disappear" because we always forget about them. I remembered I had a pet hawk about one post before he died.
I'm used to very, very, very lethal games (that I run), so no need to apologize, coil23.
I do hope Vanis will get to play a longer part, because apparently I'm one of the foolish ones who didn't roll a companion.

Re: Whispered Asides and Backroom Squabbles: OOC
What?? I didn't think I had the option of rolling a companion. I would love to have subordinate cannon fodder.
Re: Whispered Asides and Backroom Squabbles: OOC
From the chargen post:
But don't worry about it. There are several other sources of replacement characters available to you. Each PC may have a Companion. Roll their Ability Scores in order and give them 1 hp and a sword. (Companions make great back-up PCs when your first character snuffs it).

Sorry I haven't posted here, I was lamely unaware and wasn't getting alerts as I hadn't posted yet. So...
Thanks MB for mapping. I enjoy mapping but still use graph paper and pencil. While mastering the quick pic / photobucket conversion into an img, I'm lost on electronic format maps.
Gwar and Butchness are happy to be in front of marching order. The hallways are going to be so wide anyway we could all walk parallel.
I thought that monster would tear Gwar! up and I'd resort to using my arcanum bone magnet to repel it. Did that 20 you rolled Pulp mean double damage to it?
When in my routine, I can almost post weekday daily, though at times work and family curtail that.
I appreciate the role playing of the group and DM effort.

Re: Whispered Asides and Backroom Squabbles: OOC
The rifle-shots drained the monster of enough hit points that when GWAR! and Schroff both rolled well for damage, it ate into its STR points. When you lose STR points, you need to roll against your remaining STR or suffer Critical Damage.
Crit Damage is pretty much "Unconscious and Bleeding to Death." And a 20 is an auto-fail.
Really, I should have given the monster a last attack (ItO doesn't really have initiative, so we can usually assume simultaneous attacks), but the 20 was such a bad result, and I figured that there were worse things than being a little generous on the very first fight.
Fights in ItO will tend to be fast and dramatic, with sudden ends on both sides.

My pleasure! It's fun to use my hard-earned Photoshop skills for something other than earning the filthy lucre.Grognardsw wrote:Thanks MB for mapping. And I highly recommend trying out digital mapping. It's perfect for this kind of map-as-you-go thing (as opposed to the GM-mapping-evertything-out-beforehand thing) where the unexpected may appear at any time and require adjustments.

I heard somewhere that dynamite was standard equipment for Call of Cthulhu characters. Do we have dynamite?

Re: Whispered Asides and Backroom Squabbles: OOC
If it's a choice between no dynamite & no Cthulhu, or dynamite and Cthulhu, I'll take the former option thanks.Wizard Lizard wrote:I heard somewhere that dynamite was standard equipment for Call of Cthulhu characters. Do we have dynamite?

Langston has a bomb in his jacket! Spherical with a fuse out the top. It only (!) does d12 area damage however. So we could maybe take out Cthulhu jr.mb. wrote:

This map just keep getting prettier, I love it.
Also, not my call, but I'd pick mice over toy soldiers anytime. Toys are creepy...

I say let them fight it out and we can see what is left after.

Unseen Servant needs a Campaign Map Hall of Fame, and this map should have pride of place in it.

Fantastic map! Thank you for doing this. It gives us direction plus adds to the dark, oppressive atmosphere for me.
