Prologue: Strangers in a Strange Land
Re: Prologue: Strangers in a Strange Land
Assuming that I see Slavel start to materialize as he casts his spell....
Realizing battle is imminent, Calto unsheaths his blade and breaks cover to stand at the elf's side. Guarding him and ready to attack any approaching natives.
If the weasel gets there this round as well, I will stand on the opposite side of the elf so we cover his left and right. Do I need to roll to hit should one approach?

BRUNO THE MAD
Bruno seeing that combat to the death is now inevitable draws his +2 Short Sword and attempts to hide in the jungle shadows and move silently to an advantage point were he can backstab the leader of the savages.
Hide in Shadows [1d100] = 25 = Success
Move silently [1d100] = 8 = Success
Bruno eyeing the savage leader says to himself in hused words as he slinks thru the jungle underbrush like a snake poised to strike;
" When opportunity presents itself I would see my steel erupt from your chest, jungle slaver scum. "

Re: Prologue: Strangers in a Strange Land
Grindhelm steps forth and readies his axe, staring down any and all people there. He waits with a glare for anyone who dares to attack him.
"Who wants to be the first one to get a taste of me axe? Hasn't eaten in a few days, so he's mighty hungry." he twirls it around in his hands.

Savage Blood! - Siavel Surprise Round
Siavel the elven enchanter, from behind his veil of invisibility, casts a debilitating dweomer of slowness upon the savages. Six of seven jungle barbarians find themselves weighted down with mystic gravities.
The grey elf is backing up when he abruptly turns visible. A quick whistle brings Blue the giant weasel to his side. One of the savages spots Siavel. "Roi' ka su! Su!" he yells and points. Two savages sprint in slow motion toward Siavel. The elf realizes his comrades are almost upon the scene.
Savage Blood! - Party Surprise Round

The adventurers dash out of the underbrush, catching the distracted savages off guard! Azoth Al-Aziz chants dark prayers to Noden as he points a small, straight piece of iron at the savages. The priest channels divine energy into three of the savages and they are Held fast, unable to move a muscle. The others yell in surprise; their speech is not R'lyehian, much to Azoth's relief.
Siavel too is relieved, as those wildmen rushing him are the ones now paralyzed. The mage unleashes three bolts of vermillion energy from his fingers, which blast through the air and strike unerringly at the nearest savage threatening a native. The wildman falls back in pain and wonderment.
Alex 'Blade Rain' Vam snarls and hurls his magick dagger at the savage executioner. The finely balanced rune-covered blade strikes true, deeply gashing the jungle barbarian's shoulder! (9 HP damage) He follows up with two more thrown daggers, slashing the savage's right thigh and left arm (5, 3 HP) The savage collapses to the ground unmoving.
Grindhelm the dwarf fighter growls warning and swings Screaming Death. The battle axe whistles as it buries deep in the savage's hip, cracking bone! (Critical for 16) He screams and falls to the ground, barely alive.
The thieves Bruno and Leomar slink around the underbrush and trees, positioning themselves for imminent back-stabs. Calto the druid brandishes his enchanted petrified wood scimitar, taking up a defensive right flank position to Siavel, while Blue the weasel is on the left.

Re: Prologue: Strangers in a Strange Land
Azoth Al-Aziz, occultic priest:
The inscrutable cleric quickly counted their bloodthirsty adversaries. Three were frozen in time. Grindhelm maimed one. Blade Rain killed one.
Two remained, both slowed by Siavel and one injured by him. And both thieves were in place for their insidious back stabs.
Azoth Al-Aziz would allow the others to finish the last two remaining savages.
If somehow they didn't, and one of his friends was endangered, and Azoth could act in time to help him, then the occultic priest would intercede. In this case, Azoth Al-Aziz utters the black words to implore his merciless master to empower him with sorcery dark and unearthly: "‘Ai! ‘Ai! Gotha N’ghft!"
He would cast the reverse of Light to conjure a 4' diameter writhing void of undulating shadow tentacles upon a savage's necklace.

Re: Prologue: Strangers in a Strange Land
Siavel draws forth his longbow - a weapon not used by many mages, but a proficiency afforded him by way of his ancestry. The elf cooly nocks an arrow and fires it at a savage who is not engaged in melee, hopefully one already wounded by his magic missiles. The arrow finds its mark, though the damage dealt is uncertain.
If all savages are in melee, Siavel will stand and observe, confident that no further magic is necessary to overcome these foes.

Grindhelm swings his axe down at the nearly dead fool that attacked him.
Re: Prologue: Strangers in a Strange Land
Calto will stand guard at the mage's side, attacking the first enemy to approach while serving to distract the enemy from a thief's attack from behind.

Alex 'Blade Rain' Vam; Human male Fighter
A dark grin of satisfaction upon seeing his blades take down a foe spreads across Alex's scarred face and he switches his broadsword back to his good right hand and he strides forward to interpose himself between any surviving tribals and the poor tied-up prisoners. If any move towards him; he'll slash out with his sword; but won't move from his blocking position….

Leomar leaps from the jungle attempting to stab one of the savages in the back.
Back stab to hit :[1d20+6] = 3+6 = 9 , backstab damage [1d6+2] = 1+2 = 3 x3 crappy roll

Savage Blood! - Round One
Grindhelm the dwarf presses his attack, his whistling battle axe chopping down on the injured savage. He rolls to the right, dodging Screaming Death! The savage snarls, his eyes wild, and swings a stone short sword with serrated obsidian edges at Grindhelm's legs. The dwarf's magic slate mail deflects most of the blow, but he is grazed (3 HP damage.)
"Ku-anga gol!" screams the second surviving jungle barbarian as he clubs Blade Rain, who he saw kill his fellow savage.

The wooden club with bone spikes rips through Blade Rain's leather armor, gashing the fighter in the shoulder! (6 HP) This savage seems bigger than the others, his eyes wild with rage despite the wounds from Siavel's magic missiles.
The three Held savages glare at the adventurers. Bruno the gnome thief rushes from cover and back stabs the savage fighting Blade Rain. The gnome's blade bites deep and the savage cries out in pain! Fellow thief Leomar attempts to back stab as well, but the barbarian turns at the right moment and blocks Leomar with his club.
Siavel the elf enchanter draws bow, nocks arrow, and holds it as he sees that the two remaining mobile savages are engaged in melee with Grindhelm, and Blade Rain and the thieves. Azoth the cleric voices a dark prayer as he watches the battle unfold. He holds the final syllables in abeyance as he judges the moment not right. Calto the druid and Blue the weasel stand next to Siavel, weapons at the ready.

Re: Prologue: Strangers in a Strange Land
Siavel lowers his bow, knowing better than to risk a shot when his comrades are in melee. It is of no matter, as between his magic and the competence of his fellows, the fight is well under control. He calls to the druid and cleric:
"Calto, Azoth... Let us bind the captives and heal the wounded. All of them will have much to tell us about this strange land."
The mage sends Blue to pin down one of the held barbarians and moves forward himself - cautiously - to assist with the binding. Of course, the mage will first search each barbarian for items of interest, being mindful of the 9 or so minutes left in the spell. Perhaps Siavel will search, then Calto will bind...as the druid actually has rope.

Alex 'Balde Rain' Vam; Human male Fighter
Alex hisses in pain from the club strike and glares at the tribal while swinging his trusty, enchanted broadsword Spell Slicer in retaliation....
OOC: Please make an attack and possibly a damage roll for me Mr. DM sir; 1d20+1 for the attack (Broadsword +1); damage if a hit is scored should be 2d4+2 (Magic and STR 16)

Re: Prologue: Strangers in a Strange Land
Calto nods at Slavel's suggestion and assists the mage in searching and binding the 3 held savages with portions of his rope. He will also inspect their strange weapons closer as well as examine the tattoos, and other distinguishing marking of these savages, fascinated by this unique tribe.
Question for the DM. How far away did we see those two-headed alligators? It now occurs to Calto, that it might be a good idea to reach out to one in friendship...

Growling in frustration, Grindhelm lashes out again at the wounded savage, wanting to end his life.

BRUNO THE MAD
Bruno loves hearing the satisfies sound of a successful backstab and is only slightly disappointed that he didn't take his foe down with one blow. He had been itching for another fight ever since that damn kraken had attacked their ship.
" I don't know what grotesque, slimy hole you crawled out of you no good savage dog, but I intend to send you back into it in pieces!"
Attack Roll to Hit [1d20+2] = 20+2 = 22
Damage Roll [1d6+2] = 4+2 = 6 x2 = 12

Re: Prologue: Strangers in a Strange Land
Savage Blood! - Round Two
Bruno the gnome thief taunts the savage, as he thrusts low at the legs and drives his short sword deep into the jungle barbarian's thigh! At the same time, Blade Rain's broadsword clatters against the savage's club, but then the fighter slides it down the length of the club and slices a hand off the savage! "Ahhg!" he screams then collapses down dead.
Grindhelm the dwarf struggles against the wounded savage on the ground, who again rolls out of the way of the deadly battle axe. Azoth dark acolyte of Noden strides into the fray, smashing his frightful rod against the savage's skull and killing him.
Siavel the sorcerer and Calto the druid bind the three paralyzed savages. The nature priest observes the powerfully built bodies of the savages; their wood and obsidian swords, clubs, and spears; body piercings in odd places with bone rings, spikes, and needles; war paint made of blood, crushed berries, and tree tar; the naturalistic fur and skin loin clothes and random pieces of bone, skull, wood, bark and shell coverings and tribalistic trinkets.
The savages are dead except the three bound. The two surviving natives look upon the adventurers with fear and awe.
