"Double doors are double trouble. Ok. Let's try this one then."
The gnome will guard the rear, pointing his bow at the double doors or any creature who comes up the stairs.

Shade
Moves up beside Yagul and will check for traps, if none are found he will see if it is locked, if so will try to unlock it.

Uther
Uther's mind was still trying to make sense of the specifics of prior encounter when the group happened upon a hallway with a series of doors. As was typical, Yagul and Shade moved in to examine the nearest one more closely. At that, the wizard shifted backward to what he believed would be a safe distance should they trigger some sort of device engineered to protect the room's contents.

Shade finds that the door appears to not be trapped or locked.

Yagul
Yagul carefully closes the door and turns to the others, holding is finger to his lips in the traditional be silent gesture. He then signals for everyone to back up away from the door.
Whispering, "There are 4 undead of some sort in there standing over a dead body in a pool of blood, no idea if they saw me or what type they are."

Uther
Uther leaned in and listened to Yagul's report on the room that lay before them. He quickly lamented having wasted his flaming sphere spell on the jelly-like creature they had previously encountered. He had been sure that magical fire could destroy almost any opponent, intelligent or otherwise, a belief that had now been shaken. That said, he knew fire was effective when used upon the undead, but he now lacked that weapon.
"I still have a web spell prepared for this day." the wizard offered as a recommendation.

Monty "Well we could always move up to the next door instead of taking the undead on if we are ill prepared." the polymorphed paladin suggests.

"Good idea. Lets do that." Yagul moves to the next door and once Shade checks it and gives him the all clear he will open it up carefully.

Were the undead skeletons, corporeal wraiths, slobbering ghouls? Something might identify them so we can estimate relative danger.

Monty sighs a bit "Well if you would like one of us holy types to peer in we could give it a go, but there may be a chance we'll be noticed." the paladin says in a quiet voice.

Uther
The shrouded man peered curiously at the warrior who claimed to be a paladin. From the tales he had overheard in the labor camp, these holy crusaders of their given faiths were duty bound to courageously seek out and destroy any and all creatures of undeath. However, this one seemed different, somehow. Perhaps the magically induced change effected upon them modified more than just their superficial appearance. This was worth future study, Uther mused.
"I believe we can end their terrible existence if we utilize sound tactics, for once." the wizard muttered.

"Sure, tactics great. Open the door and let me 'razzle-dazzle' them with some gnomish mesmerisms."
He prepares to cast 'Colour Spray' at the huddle in the room once the door is kicked open. Hopefully it will stun them briefly allowing others to attack with advantages.

Monty giving a warriors salute draws her weapons and moves to the door opening it for the gnome to cast and others to do their thing then will charge into fight whatever remains unless tactically she decides another move.
yes I know DM playing and DMing is interesting/challenging to juggle at times. Sorry been a busy week.

Re: Part 2: Fighters Academy floors below (IC Section 2)
The scene unfolds before those peering through the door with Monty. You see a human with a dagger in it's back laying on the floor not breathing with a pool of blood under it and three cloaked undead looking things standing around it as if preparing to do something to it.
Monty tries to recall their paladin trainings about undead...and he barely recalls the lesson he stammers "Wi..wwii..wights."
Ferris reacts by casting color spray on the wights identified by Monty. Or perhaps he stays his hands and closes his door.
The figures are nightmarish looking forms of former humans or humanoids anyway, though now they have long sharp claws on their hands, burning eyes, and flesh that looks similar to them mummy you fought previously.
Map yes having identified the creatures I am giving one last chance for folks to reconsider or adjust their reactions/actions before moving this into combat.
