Part 2: Fighters Academy floors below (IC Section 2)
2nd Floor: Continuing the search
The group having rested (spellcasters pick/set your new spells, everyone heals 2 HP for resting.) making your way out the hallway and reflecting on the strange dream or sleep intrusion you climb down the stairs to the second floor of the academy. As you descend the stairs the light reflects off the clean, gray floor. It looks damp and might be tricky footing. all you can see right now is a hallway that leads straight from the bottom of the stairs going south and turning to the east at the end, no doors or rooms are seen from this location of the second floor.

McTavish
Making halfway down the stairs to the floor the dwarf stopped and examines it. "Somethings not right, I can't tell if my eyes play tricks on me or it's really that damp down here!" exclaimed McTavish
ooc/ - Is there anything out of the ordinary that stands out from the floor besides looking damp?

It looks like wet stone, or a sedimentary rock floor. The water or whatever liquid appears to be about six to eight inches deep.

"Aye, don't take a step further. Even if it's just plain water I'm still not taking my chances." said McTavish. McTavish looks for a pebble or something small that he can toss into the water to get any reaction.

McTavish doesn't find any pebbles but he does find a small bit of broken off stone stair and tosses it into the liquid it sinks in the liquid and you cannot see it anymore.

"I wouldn't stand so close. It might have pseudopods that can erupt to grab you. Best light it up from a distance."
I have an idea to get around it. Takes some gnomic ingenuity of course. So I want to hammer a piton into the wall behind me and secure a rope through it, then float up using my boots of levitation. Crawl upside down across the ceiling like some gnome version of the possessed girl in Exorcist and get to the far end beyond the floor slithering ooze. Attach piton B and secure rope. Guys could use athletic ability to swing hand over hand across the top if the ooze and providing they keep their legs drawn in, be out of any 5'ft reach it might possess.

Uther
Uther leaned forward slightly, keenly interested in the gelatinous fluid's reaction to Yagul's lit torch. Was it living? Perhaps so. He then shot a glance in the gnome's direction and said, "Leave it to a gnome to come up with an overly convoluted plan. I may be able to offer a more direct approach at dealing with this dilemma."

The torch sizzles out and doesn't do anything to the liquid. (at least nothing I am finding indicates it does anything here.)

Throws some rations on it. Fresh preserves like an apple and strips of beef jerky. If they dissolve or get gobbled up then you can think what it might do to flesh.

"Aye, that makes sense. Starting to feel a bit daft standing at the edge." said the dwarf while still cautiously looking at the water.

Shade
Seeing everyone scared of a little water is making him start to wonder what kind of group he joined up with. But he can't help the urge to toss a rock down into the water when no one is looking to watch everyone knee jerk at the splash. After he stops laughing he says:
You all do realize if it is an Ooze we can throw oil flasks into it and light it off and don't even have to mess with it right? Oil will float on top of water and burn off. This is my last flask of oil but here goes.
He uses his teeth to pull the cork out like he is pulling a grenade pin and tosses it with a flick of the wrist so it slings oil across the surface of the water.
Who has a torch?

Re: Part 2: Fighters Academy floors below (IC Section 2)
The food and rations sink in but do not sizzle, dissolve or anything other than sink out of view same with the stone from earlier and the torch. With all the things being tossed into the liquid you can see that it appears to slowly move almost like a snake away from the stairs down the hallway. Currently it appears to have moved a few inches.

Just foolish to walk across an ooze that has acids that dissolve stuff and think it won't chew into your flesh.
Acids might not dissolve glass or stone, hence they are kept in vials and jars.
"Anyone want to piggyback a cynical gnome across?"
