With no obvious target to attack nor ally to heal, Hans' short, powerful forelimbs grip his sword in anticipation of plunging it into the ribbed torso of one of the frightful predators.

'Astro-Medicine' Chamber, Castle U.S.S. Enterprise
The Barren Wasteland, Forbidden Island of Xygax the Wizard, Land of One Thousand Towers
Day Four. Night. March 28th, 912 CY

In the rampaging chaos of bloodshed and violence, a lightning-fast prehuman creature (A3) carves open Ko-nan with slashing claws and razor-sharp teeth! (13hp damage!)
The barbarian's vengeful ax is a blur of silver that cleaves asunder the frightful endoparasitoid in a splash of burning blood! (Ko-Nan, please make an Ability Check vs Dex on 1d20 to evade 5hp damage!)
The black, spine-chilling horror collapses to the floor, dead!
Nearby, Monique's morningstar staves off another vicious assault and hammers a sleek, extended cranium in a spatter of amber blood! (Monique, please make an Ability Check vs Dex on 1d20 to evade 2hp damage!)

Her fearsome enemy hisses and screeches with bestial fury!
Maskelyn retreats as Fiefo and Chaka bare steel and advance. But neither can reach the front line in the cramped confines of the strange chamber! Tullia finds a chair to hurl into a battle so frenzied and ferocious that she might strike friend or foe alike!
Adrock crawls atop a table-bed to reach Monique with the magic wand of the healer of worlds! Then he remembers the celestial shaman laid a diadem jewel into the silver shaft before working its unfathomable magicks!

Monique Quan
Monique sees the nasty blood fly and remembers it eats thru metal, flesh, etc. and does her best to dodge away....she follows that dodge up with trying to backpedal away from the monsters to put some space between them and herself, hoping to get out of the front rank and throw a javelin at them from a little bit of distance....
OOC: Dodge roll (DEX 16): [1d20] = 6
If possible, I'm just trying to get away from the front rank and put some distance between them and me.....If I can do so, then next round I'll toss a javelin at one....if not, I'll swing my mace again....

Ko-Nan seeing the changes in the frontline will try to take advantage of that to drive forward and kill all in his path.

Maskelyn knows he's worse than useless in this battle. He holds a dagger, ready to throw if he sees an opening. Unable to contribute, he prays to The Bugs for assistance.
Hey, Doc! There's two of those Big Beetles over there- it'd be hilarious if that door closed on one of them... Imagine how pissed he'd be if it caught his neck.... Just sayin'...

She looks around for something more effective than her sword or arrows. Even if it something to just slow them down. Cloth towels, bottles of chemicals, medical tools, tool tray, or whatever is at hand, that she can throw at them, break over their heads, etc.

Hans the Shrewd
Biding his time under the desk, Hans ponders the nature of the beasts outside. Their heads are enviably smooth to be sure, but their bodies and disposition are vile and twisted beyond redemption. Could sleekness co-exist with evil and degeneration? His discomfiture rises, for he and his devout molemen brethren have learned to judge books solely by their covers, and none possess a lovelier shell than Iithius, their porcelain-skinned goddess. The moral and spiritual contradictions subsumed in this plane disturb him deeply, and he is as unsure of his next move as any of his companions.
Still, desperate combat seems not the time for such philosophical ruminating. A mere tadpole of their species rent McCoy's body apart in a most gruesome fashion. Should one of the terrible creatures draw near, he will destroy it.
"Protect them, the flower goddess will," he silently mouths, referring to his intrepid companions.

Monique has no choice but to retreat from the ferocious onslaught of the glistening black horrors in the doorway!
Ko-Nan eagerly takes her place at the battle's pinch point, but he is too intent on dealing death to evade it. The sinister thing at the threshold dodges the barbarian's cleaver and lacerates his chest with sharp-edged claws! Ko-Nan's patchwork armor of iron plates and cured catoblepas hide saves his life! (-2hp)
Chaka, Fiefo and Jack push to join the fray but, unless the battle line moves, only one of the adventurers may fight at a time!
Maskleyn reverently beseeches his lord, Bugs for divine intervention to smite their enemies with deadly and hilarious practical jokes! The rodent-like gnome envisions in his mind an ancient holy icon of The Grey One, as depicted by the orthodox latter-day sect (reformed).

His prayers go unanswered. Mysterious and mercurial is the Trickster God.
Adrock crawls under a table bed to reach Monique and heal her with miraculous orisons to the sacred mercy of Tee Em Zee! (+4hp)
Tullia searches the enigmatic treasures of the chamber of the "astro-medicine" for something to use in the fight.

She saw Ko-Nan slaughter one of the heinous terrors with his great ax. Her sword may be effective against them, if they only had room to fight!
Meanwhile under a table, Hans shrewdly observes their smooth-skulled, frightful adversaries and contemplates the true nature of beauty and hideousness...

Having backed up and received the healing touch of LL Adrock (AWESOME name by the way!), she thanked the earring-wearing friend and took out a javelin, aimed carefully at the closest monster and yelled at her alien companions; "Get down or fall back and we'll hit them from afar!"
