Chapter 11: Anxiously Contemplating the Hobgoblins!
Re: Chapter 11: Anxiously Contemplating the Hobgoblins!
Having had two portcullises dropped on the party, Idonea studies the roof.

Actually it was the third portcullis!

Dungeon Master:
Since the bars were bent to get out, instead of lifted for the third portcullis, all Idonea sees Is a dark groove that the portcullis fell from.
It was noticed with the other 2 that after they were lifted & reset to stay up that a stonework like piece must seamlessly cover where the portcullises fall from.
Lutha finds no secret/concealed doors along the southern wall but comes to another passage with stairs leading upwards.

Re: Chapter 11: Anxiously Contemplating the Hobgoblins!
Idonea, considering the portcullis mechanism: "A crafty bit of work, that. Goblins aren't know for their technical prowess, are they? Do you think they contracted with someone else to install the gear-work and whatnot for these infernal devices? Residents from nearby caves? How much cooperation exists between monsters? Is there a whole economy of specialist trade between them? Such a level of order and organization among the so-called Chaos is almost comforting. But it also makes our endeavor all the more dangerous. Beyond clever traps, they may have pacts of reprisal."
Idonea notes the rough proportions of the stone piece that covers the portcullis, points it's characteristics out to Ewat, and the two of them keep an active eye out for more.

Maya heads to the stairs, leading the group behind the trap finders when they are ready to ascend.

Kormak continues as rear guard for the party and follows along.
Mort resumes his searching of traps. Trap Check Floor[1d100] = 36 Trap Check Left Wall[1d100] = 3 Trap Check Right Wall[1d100] = 54 Secret passages[1d6] = 6

Dungeon Master:
Mort does not find any traps & niether does Wexley: [1d100] = 88
Just before they come to a landing, both Mort & Wexley take a tumble forward & fall flat but no damage taken, the passage appears to continue to a door.

keeps on Finding secret door when actively searching 2 in 6: [1d6] = 2 (the wall to his right)
while automatically as usual Spotting concealed door without actively searching 1 in 6: [1d6] = 1 (in whichever direction this sense reaches)
Wolfram
moves along with group, stays alert, Tene-mace in hand, shield up (as Wexley is now carrying the torch)

Mort does not check every 10' only every 20' to save time if Wexley and Choe fill in the middle that is fine. continuing on every 20 - 30 feet he will check for traps to save time.

Dungeon Master:
No more doors or traps were found, beyond the trip wire on the lower stairs, so now you are at a door with no handle.

Wexley gives the door a shoot:
Find/remove traps: [1d100] = 21
Open lock: [1d100] = 62
Wexley does not find traps & can't open a lock if there is one.

Mort will try any locks if there are any and then if there are none will try to push the door if it opens that way other wise he will start looking for some way to open the door. Open Locks 40% Thief Skill Checks[1d100] = 53

Maya walks up, swiftly and strongly kicking the door open.
Maya Open Door (1-3 on D6): [1d6] = 2
Will that work?
