Glad to see Liam still has it where it counts, Jaxsen once again takes up a position running alongside the man, carefully listening and looking around them, trying hard to avoid any nasty surprises.

Hearing the groan that sounded like neither of their comrades, Dexter whispers to Daisy, "Well, that has a certain ring of hope to it." When he hears how close the sounds of combat are, he adds, "What do you think? Time to get a little further from the trail and start flanking them?"

Well, you've made three posts now so far, but none of them have included an action, so...... I'm starting to wonder.

The knight narrows his eyes, calculating the odds before he makes a move. For the moment, he'll back slowly toward the dying lizard and place a hand upon his wounds, sending a prayer for healing skyward.

If the dwarf forces the issue, he'll take a swing. Otherwise, he just wants cover and healing.

Daisy
Yes, sugar- we'd better move with care now. Ah don't want to get ambushed again. Daisy moves into the woodline. If she has to choose between concealment and speed, she'll choose concealment.

On the Loggers Trail: (Late Afternoon)
Liam and Jaxsen continue jogging towards Beachtown, finding little in the way of resistance so far. They run till they are about half way, then need to take a break to rest for a moment. Let me have a Hard Con check from Liam, and a Normal Con check from our monk, please.


Behind the Fighting:
Taking the cautious approach with the fighting noises ahead, the halflings creep along the edge of the tree line towards their friends. As they round an outcropping of rock, they see something strange up ahead on the trail. A lizard with a single dwarven rider slowly exits the jungle about 60 feet in front of them, making his way towards the same fighting noises. The rider doesn't seem to notice them behind him, though they don't see the Princess or the Paladin yet either.


The Battle Of Dwarf Trail:
Narramore and Princess Summerstars smell something fishy, and they are a long way from any water. Moving back to their dying lizard, the paladin heals some of his wounds, while the Princess yells back at the coy dwarf in his own language. The lone Stonegut has enough control to refrain from replying this time, but he really looks like he wants to. Instead, he circles his lizard in the center of the trail one full rotation, whistling loudly before he spurs his animal into a full charge at the pair.

As she looks over her lizard, the fair elf thinks she spots movement on the trail behind them, and when she stares off in that direction, she sees another mounted dwarf about 80 feet away, also beginning to charge at them from the rear.

Actions?

Jax accepts the waterskin from Liam with a nod, taking a swig and washing it around his mouth before swallowing. He takes a moment to look around and listen carefully, once again making sure they are alone. When Liam sets off down the trail, Jaxsen accompanies him once more.

Dexter Broadleaf

"That one thinks he's sneaky," says, Dex, pointing to the Dwarf falling in behind their companions. "I think he needs a lesson in what sneaky means." Sparing only a moment to look around and make sure there is not another Dwarf planning to outflank Dex and Daisy, the Thief begins a low run at the back of the lizard and Dwarf, staying as close to the foliage as possible to aid his own camouflage.

Of course, if Dex does see another Dwarf in hiding, he does not make the run and only points out the other Dwarf to Daisy.

Daisy
Daisy draws breath to challenge the newcomer, but stops when Dex advances to attack. She taps Sophie on the muzzle to signal 'Stay', then follows him, moving more slowly so she can stay silent.

The Princess

Strangely smug in her assessment of a trap, the Princess smiles. "There's another one coming up behind. Focus on this one, don't get run over."

She flexes her knees and readies her sword. "I won't tell you how to fight, but I'm playing dirty." The Princess scampers up on top of the dying lizard, forcing the dwarf to pick a side. She plans to jumps down the opposite one.

If the bastard tries to go over the grounded lizard, she jumps to the north and heads for the treeline.

What is Dex's angle of attack for the ambushing Dwarf? Directly behind? Coming from a rear flank? Side? Just trying to make sure I'm seeing this correctly. Thanks!

Sir William Narramore

Narramore growls at the cowardly tactic of running down men on foot and backs away before charging up the fallen lizard's body, pushing off and launching himself as the dwarf draws close, hacking down with all his might.

He is pretty much coming up from behind him, or will be by the time he gets there.

On the Loggers Trail: (Late Afternoon)
After another grueling hour of jogging in the heat of the day, the pair needs to rest again, even though they are getting quite close to their destination. While they finish up their daily supply of water, something catches their eye on the trail a good distance ahead of them. Can I get a Normal Wisdom check form each of you, please?


The Battle Of Dwarf Trail:
As the dwarf charges the pretty pair, Narramore uses the dead lizard carcass as a spring board, leaping through the air at the oncoming threat. If he is trying to prove his mettle to the fair elf next to him, he is doing a fall-down job of it. Slipping in some blood just as he leaps, his aim falters and he falls to the ground at the feet of the charging animal. With no need to attack using his weapon, the dwarf steers the lizard to trample over the top of the paladin instead. 5 dam

Once the Princess sees this, and knows she is safe from the dwarf in front of her, she spins around to greet the one coming up from the rear, who slows his mount once he realizes he is spotted, giving Dexter exactly what he needed to make his move on the unsuspecting aggressor.


Behind the Fighting:
Dexter takes off running after the not so sneaky dwarf, seeing an opportunity to make his presence known when the lizard stops short about 20 feet before he reaches the others. He sees Princess standing on top of what looks like a dead lizard, but cant make out where the paladin might be.

Daisy follows up from behind, sticking to the edge of the trail. She does spot the clumsy paladin, currently on the ground, being trampled by another mounted dwarf on the other side of the action.

Liam takes his final pull of water and looks at the empty waterskin with what would have been a sigh but it comes out as a huff as he continues to catch his breath. Good thing we are close...
